Hi guys!! I work for Delta and would like to thank you very much for your feedback! We are always trying to give our customers the best possible experience. I am so glad that you happy with your flights. I will pass this video along to in-flight customer service. You have some really good suggestions on how to improve our meal service. I love your videos.Thank you again for flying Delta!
I went from Holland to America with with Delta. I asked for vegan meal but got vegetarian meal with regular ice cream. It said vegan, but it was not, unfortunately.
Jeannie I hope one day all airlines will also offer Medical Medium foods, millions around the world now following this protocol of eating. :-)
Yeah!
Oooohhhh, Brian! Polenta is the bomb. Ignore the package directions: combine 1 cup polenta with 3.5 cups water (and a bit of salt if you use it) in a casserole. Bake it uncovered at 350F for 50 minutes. Stir it, then bake it 10 more minutes. Remove it from the oven, cover it, and let it sit for 10 minutes or so. Serve. This makes three nice servings. Totally hands-off!
You can store it in the fridge for several days. To reheat it, place a portion in a dish and add a couple tablespoons or of water. Microwave for two minutes, stir it up to smooth it out, then microwave for an additional minute. Good as fresh!
Also, you can slice cold polenta and grill it. Try it with the griddler!
Dorothy Young : sliced and grilled... oh yeah! 👍
Thanks Dorothy! Gonna give it a go!
oh hunny, thats just fancy grits! And it's awesome!
Usually it takes just 10 min. on the stove. It depends on the kind of polenta.
Thank you so much for this. I get emails from the New York time and they just gave out the recipe for mushroom bourguignon. Polenta what is the first suggested item to eat it with. It is a full one vegetarian dish maybe vegan? It does have 6 tablespoons of oil and red wine but that’s the only two questionable items I see in the recipe.
Tend to order the Hindu meal. Pure Veg: Dairy, No Egg. Depending on the route, I get the same thing for Dinner as I do for Breakfast: dal, rice, veg.
Good tip!
Nothing better than dal, rice, veg.
Great tip!! Never knew that was an option.
I flew Air India once going to the UK. I was in food heaven (plus the Indian comedy soap opera was fun to watch)
Thanks for the awesome tip!
Does anyone else like the way Brian says "really, really good"?!! Lol 😂😄😁😊
The best thing about flying international is that the cabin crew are older and thus more professional than a fair number of crew on the short flights one takes in the States. Also, I used to fly Delta to and from Japan to Atlanta and found the food pretty good in the main cabin, but man oh man, the food in business class was always top notch. Glad you guys had a positive experience on your flights.
You guys are shrinking in front of our eyes! You look so great & cute. Travel agrees with you & you navigate it perfectly.
Thanks for another super video, will share with my kids as always.
Can't wait to see the video about your trip to London! I've heard they have really great vegan restaurants and options there.
Glad to hear that Delta had an option for you.. I’ve heard that Emirates is ranked the highest for vegan meal options,, I’ve flown Virgin Atlantic to London and thought they did a great job with vegan meal and snack options. Very tasty. Can’t wait to hear more about your trip.
I can see how your channel would grow so much as people set New Years resolutions and start researching on eating better. That is how I found you. Thanks for all that you do!
I was looking at the tiny portions, and thinking...I’d starve if my entire backpack wasn’t full of food! 😂. Glad you’re growing! I recommend you to all my vegan Facebook pages!
I work in the airline industry. There are standardized special meal options and their VGML (vegan meal) is indeed described as non dairy vegetarian (strict vegetarian) for some reason with delta. VLML would have been vegetarian lacto ovo meal. Every airline may develop their own recipes etc but the meal codes are standard so from now if all else fails just ask customer service for VGML at least 24 hrs in advance for any long haul flight.
Wow. That Mediterranean lentil dish & the eggplant masala looked amazing! I actually love tomatoes and cucumbers but that salad was seriously chintzy, no lettuce or greens at all and so tiny. I did not think we could bring fruit or any food at all on the plane. Good to know! So excited for you guys, what a great trip! I have always dreamed of going to Europe. One day. Glad you two figured out how it all works. We appreciate you!
So far, because I've only flown in country, I have brought all my own food. Things like rice cakes, almond butter and dates, work pretty well. Apples are great because they are contained, and little remains. Bananas would be great but too much peel for me. Plus they get bruised easily. If you're on a 6 or 7 hr flight, you need some sustenance.
Hearing your story brings back so many funny memories from when I traveled to England about 10 years ago. I was traveling alone on a huge plane with hundreds of people, and our flight had been delayed, so needless to say, people weren't in the best of moods. I think I had one of the few (if not only) special dietary vegan meals on the flight, and it smelled delicious. I was served an hour in advance of everyone else and thought I was gonna get jumped lol. Either that, or they thought I was a celebrity sitting in coach. I kinda wanted to crawl under my seat because everyone was so hungry and staring at me like rabid animals. I felt so bad I waited an hour to eat until other people were getting served. My food was still super delicious even though it was cold. 😁
Thank you guys for your wonderful videos!!
When we flew first class to Sydney a few years ago, I was stunned to see cauliflower steak as an entree option! I was also able to snack on hummus and veggies, olives, almonds, and other fruit. I was well fed :) This was American Airlines.
I put like a cup of old fashioned oats, no fluid in a large coffee cup. If on a plane I ask for hot water to be poured in. If in terminal, I find a coffee place and ask for 12 oz of steamed almond milk. I looked at my upcoming lower 48 flight, no options ☹️. Guess I’ll carry oats, fruit and mcdougall soup cup.
Christine Anderson What a great idea!
@Christine Anderson OMG, this is a brilliant idea! I commented that I didn't know why the airline wouldn't serve oats but it was explained that they don't serve hot meals when nearing arrival. Bringing your own oats and asking for hot water is a perfect solution to that!
Have to agree, totally awesome travel idea for oats, thanks for sharing.
I also carry oats on international flights and get either steamed soy in the airport-often they just give it to me for free!-or hot water on the plane. I also bring roasted chickpeas to add to plain vegan meals from my flight. Indian vegetarian is usually vegan and has much more flavor, but you risk getting a meal with dairy so err on the side of full vegan but bland and bring your own meal add-ins: protein toppings like tofu and chickpeas, extra chopped fresh veggies like peppers and such, or maybe some roasted potatoes.
I Absolutely love honeycrisp apples
One of my favorite meals is polenta, sauteed mushrooms (however you choose, water or oil, or nothing) add fresh spinach at the end of cooking mushrooms so it can wilt. I add vegan parmesan cheese to the polenta once it is cooked. Pine nuts for crunch Salt & pepper or whatever spice you have a hankering for.I do usually add some coconut milk with water to cook the polenta. I try all different options. At times I cook oatmeal and do the same thing, I make it savory. You will find several recipes for this polenta, mushrooms & spinach delight in line.
Yay let the London England 🇬🇧 video’s begin!
So informative interesting and wonderful!
That did look good! We just traveled to Europe on British Airways and their vegan breakfast was rolled oats with fruit, nuts and maple syrup. Surprisingly delicious!
It's been quite awhile since I've flown on Delta. Glad to hear it is a good choice. When traveling, I always carry an apple and Lara Bars. If you haven't tried them, many are just a couple of types of fruit and nuts. Some have coconut oil but just check the ingredients label. They are yummy desserts!
You both radiate kindness. 🥰 so enjoy your videos.
Thank you very much! 😀
Thankss so much for
Making this video!!! It really means a lot. I’m vegan and I have a flight coming up in a few weeks & I didn’t wanna go on the plan either starving or having to deal with food I didn’t like. Really appreciate it!
I have a friend and her husband who want to go plant based so I invited them over for a plant based meal & shared your videos & some recipes. They loved the food & her husband was shocked.
I'm actually quite impressed by the main dishes - they looked delicious despite being airline food
Glad to hear your home safe and sound! Glad to hear you had a good time! Thanks for the info on air fight meals! Jessica don’t work to hard!
India Airline is amazing for meals on the international flight. It was a great intro to Northern India .
Ooooooo how much fun?!? I’m proud you guys even filmed on the plane at all on the way back! Thanks for capturing the moments. The food looked great. Meat on an airplane was always sketchy to begin with. I feel it’s better for everyone this way. :) saw the Paris New Years post on Facebook! Can’t wait to see more of the trip. Especially London Vegan food!!!!!
I am one of your new viewers. I am not new to wfpb eating, but enjoying your fresh take on things. I am glad I watched this as I have not traveled since I went completely plant based. Now I know that with a bit of preparation it can be done!
I love your videos, also seeing Peef brightens my day. Lol 🤠👍
I'm not plant-based and probably will never go full vegan; however, I'm interested in incorporating more plant-based foods in my diet. Not sure how I came across your channel, but I'm glad I did. What made me subscribe wasn't so much the idea of being plant-based, but your personalities. You guys are fun to watch and listen to, so keep on being your authentic self. It works!
I love the two of you so much thank you for sharing your channel, most helpful in so many ways. 😘❤️
Hi guys! Hope you had a great time in the UK. Red Mill (grain company ) has polenta also known as yellow grits. It is scrumptious. I believe that the instructions are on the bag. SO healthy and rich tasting as well.
Trader Joe’s has organic polenta. I’ve never had it so I’m really looking forward to Brian’s creation! Happy new year!
I always got really nice vegan meals on airplanes. All you have to do is request it when you order your ticket. The other passengers always wanted my food.
Love your videos! Started the plant based eating thing in Dec. (Didn’t want to start in Jan.) You guys give the most realistic videos on this topic. You aren’t shiny perfect vegans! And that’s why I keep watching! Thank you!
Fyi, you can make polenta in a rice cooker, which is way easier than cooking it on the stovetop. The stovetop method generally requires stirring frequently. I just put 3 parts water to 1 part polenta in the rice cooker, give it one good stir before cooking, then another good stir at the end. Easy peasy!
Glad you had a nice trip!
Thanks! I’m going on a cruise this year. I’ve been thinking about onboard options and hadn’t thought about the flights yet.
So funny, I flew int'l on Christmas day too! I definitely ordered the vegan meal in advance. Mine was a pita + hummus snack, then an amazing dal with salad and fruit. Can't wait to hear more about your trip!
What awesome content and info!!! Great video!!!
If you come to England again you’ll have to pop in and meet us! I can only apologise for our weather😄
I'm glad you had a great trip. I was just thinking that your new subscribers may be the new years resolution crowd. You airline food looked delicious, but the portions were tiny! I laughed that those 2 grapes were delicious! Huge LOL on the Megan and Harry joke! You two are looking so good! I'm happy to see you back safe and sound.
This was an interesting video because although I fly a lot, they are normally very short flights with no meals :) We Brits love our Indian food so it makes sense that you were given an Indian inspired Vegan meal on the way back :). It is really useful to understand the system of placing special requests, and at the same time you are creating demand for Vegan food, which helps the rest of us! Of course we will roll with you and I am looking forward to the Brian-only videos!
You both look so happy and really good here! Keep on keeping on!
Yay! I'm going to fly to Germany some time in the next year from the Midwest and hope to find these kind of options when I do. Thanks!
Fly Lufthansa they are really good for special food options.
I just got back from a month in Germany, and it is an extremely vegan-friendly country. Finding food is simple because their grocery stores are so good, but with the Happy Cow app, you can easily find vegan restaurant options. Enjoy!
I love your sweater, Jessica!
I am traveling Delta in a few days from Montana to Orlando and there are no vegan meals offered I always request it before hand and they say sorry no can do. You can choose a veg. Snack but cheese is included and the hummus was yuck the last time, so I bring my food. Glad they at least had the option on the longer flight., although five and a half hours is quite long. Hope you all had a great holiday.
This was a really good video. Im not vegan but would almost want to order vegetarian next time I fly overseas. Looked so good!
Also I love the way your personalities mesh. Its fun to watch!
I have celiac and have to be gluten free and I get very sick with a tiny bit of gluten. I always carry food as I never know, once I was only served a banana and another time my flight was delayed 8 hours and none of the airport snack places had food for me. I went 8 hours on a cheese stick and an apple I had with me. I always carry cups of oats with dried fruit and instant grits. I can usually find hot water to put on it.
We usually end up flying British Airways, they usually have a decent vegan meals, but sometimes they kind of get confused and you end up with some dairy milk for your coffee or dairy butter for your bread roll (it’s easy enough not to use those though). For our long haul flights, I usually bring food for the meal we end up eating at the airport (checking in 3 hours before a flight usually means we’re there for a meal lol) and some snacks for the plane, but I try to make sure to bring manageable amounts of fresh fruit & veg, since you can’t take them into the UK with you and you need to eat it before you land or throw it away before going through customs.
I've always been curious about these meals when flying thank you for filming 💜
I miss traveling...can’t wait to see your London videos. That said be sure to care for yourselves and each other first! Congratulations on all the new subscribers!
Glad you gave a fun trip. Hope Brian can recreate and share the recipes😁
I took an international flight from Los Angeles to Sydney and did the request of special diet online prior to trips and definitely recommend it. My meals were not quite as tasty as your guys' but at least I got my food before everyone else and they didn't run out of the "popular dishes" which happens frequently to regular passenger's food options.
English person here! I can't wait to see your UK videos. I am so happy you had a great time here. We flew to America with Norwegian airlines a couple of times and they had good vegan options. We also took lots of snacks to eat on board. 😁
I rode the Amtrak from MN to WA and ordered the vegan option ahead of time too- it was an awesome trip. Love taking the Amtrak!
apple crisps are awesome! I like to slice them like potato chips and it makes a great snack at movie time. Little compliant peanut butter on it is amazing too!
Welcome home, weary travelers. So glad you went travelling especially UK . Happy to hear the veggie options, but man those aren't the portions I like to eat. Better than nothing. I've done the Eggplant dish, I got it off of Pinterest. Eggplant, lentils, veggie broth, tomatoes, and covered with mashed potatoes. Delicious dish, it was at hit at the whole food plant based potluck.
You both are so nice to share all of this with us. Really appreciate the tips and input. Hugs all around.
I took an air canada 3 hour flight this week and you had to pay for all the food but I was delighted that they had a vegan edamame and wild rice salad in a raspberry viniagrete. And it was actually good!! Glad you guys had some good experiences. ☺
I take a cucumber & tomato sandwich for lunch to work. I butter the bread but keep the tomato & cucumber in a different container until I'm ready ro eat it so the bread doesn't get soggy.
Yes, yes, yes!! Love you both!! Glad I found you!!
I take KLM/Delta from Amsterdam to the States. Being vegan, I have tried time and time again to enjoy the vegetarian meals that the airline(s) offers (even in business class), but just simply can't bear it any longer so I've resorted to opting for the pasta dishes for regular passengers instead. Yes, I eat the bread and the brownie or whatever comes with it, but I thank any animal product that might accompany the meal (learned that trick from the Dalai Lama). Many a time I wished that I had a vegan/vegetarian restaurant that catered to airlines, but then I'd add faux meat/cheeses to the menu. One day they'll catch on or some great vegan chef will make a mint being the first to cater to them. Glad you're back. 💜
I left for Lebanon (on Dec 25 too) with Turkish airlines (Air Canada to Boston from Toronto, than Turkish Airlines from Boston to Istanbul, than to Beirut) and they had a vegan option. The food was really good. A nice portion size of salad, fruit bowl, hummus, bread and also a bowl of rice, steamed spinach and ratatouille type casserole. On the way back , similar food but instead of the fruit I got a small glazed donut 🤷🏼♀️. I got the food quickly too and they didn’t forget.
Love your review of the food on your trip. It makes me a little less anxious to know there might be something, and your advise to order well ahead of time, is golden. Jessica. I like the curls. Did you get a little trim that encourages your natural curl? Funny thing that mine will wave/curl a little when cut right, too. Hard to find someone to do it the way you want. Very cute.
Great video! Glad to see you guys have made it back home. The food looked DELISH!
I'm surprised they even had a vegan option! Way to go Delta! That polenta dish looked quite delicious too. I'm glad you guys had a good trip, can't wait to see the rest of your videos from it
Can't wait to see more about your trip.
We’re going to Scotland February 2021, and this was so informative! I also love the comments with suggestions! Thank you for this video! I, myself, and other “Krockettes” here have posted your website and such on social media while you guys were enjoying vacation! 😊
Qantus you can order your meal ahead of time too, and you get feed before everyone else!!! so good lol
I can see the headline now, "Krocks solidify M'exit". 😂🤗🇺🇸
Nice guys!! Good to know. I have friends going to London in September 2020. I will let them know. You both looks so happy and healthy!! Cheers!
Delta is a great airline....says me....the mother of a Delta pilot! So glad you enjoyed your trip.
If your Polenta turns out to be as tasty as your Chili, I will be waiting for recipe video.Great video guys..your excitement and happiness shines brightly!!
Lovely to see you both back on here 😊 Looking forward to hearing about your trip!
Can't wait to see the recipe you guys come up with. That meal looked great!
Val Marie here! While the Royals may have come here to Canada, the Royal Plant based family visited England! Lol! Welcome Home! I need to go to England soon, I have a new half sister there!
Congrats on the fun trip! But eat that apple before landing, lol! When you go to Ireland, you go through customs before getting on the plane home, and that beagle will detect your apples and oranges! :)
I once ordered low sodium option (I think it was with US Air), and when everyone else got a cold sandwich wrapped in cellophane, I got a hot chicken breast, rice, and veggie!
Yes! It's the same, even if you go to Canada. You have to declare all produce. When we had our orientation for Nexus, the border patrol went on and on about not bringing fruit--specifically citrus--across the border. I don't remember much of what they said, but I'm petrified of accidentally bringing fruit!
@@lessamanda1055 lol, I was driving back from Montreal once, and said I had nothing to declare (even though he could see that I'd used the last of my Canadian money to buy milk and toilet paper). Two miles down the road I remembered that I'd made myself a sandwich with some Spanish ham! I got that down rather quickly, just in case! :P
Another great video from the Krocks💕
just a tip, Turkish airlines has a Vegan option you can choose when you book your tickets and it is really good food I always like to flight with them because Im sure they have vegan food and not vegetarian because in mashed things like potatoes or polenta they use butter
Great topic! I chose the same (veg, non-dairy) on the way to France and it was pretty good.
If you have Netflix you could have seen your dinner before on the documentary about feeding large amounts of people. I think i'ts called Big Food or something. But the company who prepares airline food shows how they prepare the Vegan fare, but Gate Gourmet the folks who feed Delta's customer's are fantastic. You can see their website too.
Perfect timing! I was just getting ready to book my Delta flight to London.
Looking forward to u creating those dishes ! Great video. Thanks
I love you guys I think y’all are great!!! I’m glad you had a safe trip and a fun one. The food looked really good on the plane.
Can’t wait to see what you guys ate in London
Super helpful! I’m flying London to NY soon with Delta and I’m vegan and really was wondering whether they’ll actually cater for vegans but so glad they do!
Glad we could help out. 😀
Welcome home, guys! I’ve been ordering vegetarian when I fly for 25 years.....because I get my food first! 😂
It is a nice tip if you don't want to wait. 😀
I've had similar experiences flying to and from Europe on Delta. . The "vegetarian nondairy" meals have always been quite good.
I had a similar experience flying Air Canada to Switzerland. Food was surprisingly good and my meal also came early....super bonus!!!
Great video, thanks a lot. I was very concerned about the food on my upcoming flight from JFK to Paris. I’m going to add for restrictions for sure. FYI you guys are awesome 😎
As always, great content. Can’t wait to see the footage of the trip.
Looking forward to your lentil artichoke polenta dish recipe. Mmmmm
you guys are great ! congrats on ur growing number of followers, well deserved !!
I just went through this whole thing with Delta flying from Atlanta to Tokyo. The food was very good, but very hit and miss as far as organization. The crew members seemed to be confused at snack time, but they always went and "found" something for me (I think it was special stuff from 1st class lol). Also, on my flight back home, our seats got moved around last minute so then the crew members "couldn't find my special meal" but they eventually did after I mentioned what happened at check in.
Instant Pot for the polenta! Just a fancy name for what my family called Cornmeal Mush!
It's so funny - every time I start to watch one of your videos I say to myself "I don't have enough time right now to watch a 30 minute or in this case 21 minute video" but then the next thing I know is one of you is saying, "well is that all we have to say?" and the video is over. NIce work here.
We just happen to have a trip to Europe planned on Delta this spring and we will definitely order our meals online ahead of time! Brian, did you see the comment by Dorothy Young below? I'm definitely going to try her suggestion for polenta.
Can’t wait for your version of polenta!! Glad you had a great trip to London
Great tips! Love your channel!
I feel they could serve a non dairy milk too almond or soy in their unsweetened versions You can always add sugar!
