There was also a comprehensive tram system all over the city then too, and we tore that up and replaced them with buses because "they were cheaper".

Look back at all major projects the state has built. These environmentalists have caused more problems than solved. We need the metro. This is needed, so badly. I come from the inner city. I’ve seen it be transformed from what it was. Now it’s time to transform it again to fit the needs of its much larger population. We have a sprawling city that needs to be connected to allow people to move around, fast. That’s how you improve the economics and social mobility of an urban area. Otherwise we lose touch with parts of our own city. Think of it this way. If a metro comes in, and with that over the decades it’s built on along with the tram system.. a business can then open in parts of the city that are cheaper to rent a commercial property. People can get there faster, and more small businesses can open up. This helps communities build themselves up. It really impacts peoples lives in ways that can’t happen if our city grows without being connected.
