I think you really deeply don't understand what a subway involves. Dublin is too spread out, too low density, it is not economically viable to do this, it is literally a huge amount of money, that will have very limited impact on the experiences of commuters in the city, and the money will not be made back in any reasonable amount of time.
For a city like Dublin, a luas line coming from the airport, with some portions under and over ground, makes the most sense.
Then, as you pointed out, many more luas lines throughout the city are needed.

3:00 'A railway is not a solution for a low density sprawling city'. You don't wait until a city is dense before you build rail infrastructure. You build the rail and then densify the city, specifically surrounding railway stations (i.e. Transit Orientated Development). He has a very outdated outlook on urban planning. We need to be proactive, not reactive.

You would need 500 million tourists paying 5 euro per visit for twenty years to pay for something like that ..and that's just to keep the interest respectable.... Look back at all major projects the state has built. These environmentalists have caused more problems than solved. We need the metro. This is needed, so badly. I come from the inner city. I’ve seen it be transformed from what it was. Now it’s time to transform it again to fit the needs of its much larger population. We have a sprawling city that needs to be connected to allow people to move around, fast. That’s how you improve the economics and social mobility of an urban area. Otherwise we lose touch with parts of our own city. Think of it this way. If a metro comes in, and with that over the decades it’s built on along with the tram system.. a business can then open in parts of the city that are cheaper to rent a commercial property. People can get there faster, and more small businesses can open up. This helps communities build themselves up. It really impacts peoples lives in ways that can’t happen if our city grows without being connected.
