Wouldn't you believe it, this is a perfect show in a bad way! We had 6 Games without a winner and a Double Overbid
Almost perfect, someone did win $1,000 at the big wheel
@@silentbob3208 I remember Bob once saying 61 shows had ended w/ no pricing games won, but I was wondering if that was followed by a double overbid on the Showcase, and this one was. I guess the Big Wheel win stopped this from being a show where only the IufBs were the only things won by the contestants.
i HAVE to agree
When it happened in 2006, we called it "El Skunko"
I'm sure, after this episode, Bob wanted to walk right up that aisle, out of the studio and to the nearest bar.
They would have brought him whatever Bottle he wanted right to his Dressing Room!!!!!
Well, don't feel bad - Season 13 had more winless shows in part because of the big Press Your Luck win back in June 1984, so they really needed to influence losses on pricing games and showcases to get theirs and CBS's game show budget back up to par.
A quick shout out to the CREW who managed to get the stereo and background on the other side of the turntable in FIFTEEN seconds, with the little space provided (the Give or Keep game gave them practice, but that stereo was HEAVY!). You could see the turntable wobble behind Holly. The turntable was ready to go with Dian to present with only a slight delay. That was tough!
I always enjoyed watching that turntable sway like that when they play Give or Keep. But, that thing was REALLY swaying. Impressive.
At first I thought that 1:45 might have been a production error (why show the turntable in motion like that) but upon a second look I figured it was to try and show both prizes on the turntable. Upon initial viewing I figured that the camera would remain on a stationary item (such as the speedboat).
a $25 Heartbreaking Overbid.
On a showcase worth that much, ouch..
@@silentbob3208So,
If Wendy could've bid $14,950 instead, maybe We got a DSW in El Sunko Show with difference of $25.
*Same like 2018 ones, but with $128 difference, link:* ruclips.net/video/lYoXUwm7bpE/видео.html
4:47 Bob: Can you believe this show? We didn't had a single game won, then we wind it up with a double overbid. This is been catastrophic day on the Price is Right!
In this world, we call that an El Skunko.
They sure did st ink on this particular episode.
My dad had a surprise box for me for Xmas in 85 under the guise it was a portable dishwasher for my stepmom…he had me “help her” open it up and it was a set of them exact fisher stereo speakers … I was lovin it…new tv, new speakers for Xmas….only thing better would have been the brand new 1985 Camaro IROC-Z😊
I fell in love with Camaros when I was a kid with those mid 80s engines and bodies they had. Always dreamed to take a ride in one and never did UNTIL I bought my own Midnight Metallic Blue 2019 Camaro 4 years ago and now have completed the journey. Anyways wouldve loved an 85 Iroc at anytime even now
Johnny sounded a bit somber when signing off. Yes, he died several months later, but when he heard the news about the double overbid, he couldn't hide his sadness.
4:56 Bob: Wendy, Thank you for being here with us. Kristina, thank you for being with it. And thank you, too. We'll do much, much better next time. Goodbye Everybody!
In other words... El Skunko.
The only highlight was a $1,000 bonus win on the wheel.
@@silentbob3208Chump change, even back in 1985. What could you possibly buy for a thousand bucks back then?
@@tyrese3745 Good 👍🏻 question, Christopher.
Be quiet James no one is talking to you.
@@silentbob3208 Mind your own business 📈, sweetie 🍭 pie 🥧!
5:28 This is Johnny Olson speaking for the Price is Right. A Mark Goodson Television 📺 Production!
I never thought I would see the day where there was actually an episode of TPIR where nobody won, and it ended with a double overbid! This is just how I pictured it would play out with the host commenting on how nobody won and single game, and then ending with saying that they'll have better luck in the next episode.
It was simply bad luck, that’s all.
4:13 Bob: And we will be right back.
3:56 Johnny: And this showcase brought to you by our Price is right Scouts can be yours if the Price is Right.
El Skunko before the term was ever even coined
Look on the bright side: They saved a bit of money that day.
After watching this episode I was thinking the same thing👍🏻..
Another day where the Beauties are wearing what I call the "Stay-Puft Marshmallow Outfits". lol
So bad they wouldn't even put the TPiR Barker Era watermark in the lower right corner.
Dang, she was only over by $25, giving it to her. Lol
LOL 😆!

@@silentbob3208 Butt out, Tootsie!
Her bid was within one tenth of one percent 0.0016 of the correct price. Shouldn't accuracy be more important than not going over? Why not change the game to whoever comes closest to the actual retail price regardless of going over.
Doesn’t work that way. Standards and Practices. It wouldn’t be fair at all.
@@tyrese3745 How would it not be fair if the rule was whoever guesses closest to the actual price wins? Seems like it would be more fair. It would be the purest form of guessing.
I thought the first "El Skunko" on the "The Price is Right" happened on February 23, 2006.
I was dying at Johnny speaking Norwegian 😂😂
🎶 Isn't It Good , Norwegian Wood ! 🎸 🎶
Johnny O. was supremely talented.
EL SKUNKO!
What happens if the contests both tie in difference
It feels like the right thing would be to give them both their showcase.
I believe that each contestant wins his/her own showcase & if there's a tie and the difference is $250 or less (both off by $125, for example), then both contestants win both showcases.
Something similar happened in 2004
Also 2010 with another painful Showcase overbid.
Aired Tuesday, May 14th, 1985. Ladies and gentlemen, an El Skunko.
👍🏻
Six Pricing Games played; six losses in a row. And to top it all off, a double overbid.
Luck simply was *not* in the cards that Tuesday. Thank you, “Dob”, Phil and “Fingers” for making all this possible. Appreciate it very much.
Only one $1,000 bonus, the only highlight.
@@tyrese3745 👍🏻
Speaking of thumbs, James still sticks his down in his mouth. Sometimes after scratching himself from behind...
Hardly shocking with the spoiler in the header.
That first showcase I was like at least 30 grand lol.
There was never a perfect show and Double Overbid
Interesting, in over 50 years of shows, never?
Until you fast forward to Valentine's Day 2010.
@@jtr990 Yup, looks like that's the case. 2/12/10, 6 for 6 and a double over in the Showcase.
That was unusual for Bob Barker to have none of the six pricing games won and a Double Overbid showcase. It only happened a few times during his reign. The winless shows with no pricing games won and Double Overbid showcases are quite common with Drew Carey. I remember watching this episode when I was a little girl of twelve, but I did not remember it being a winless show with no pricing games won.
3:30 Sven 😅😂🤣🤣
Kristina is a beauty!
That Double Overbid Has Gone Too Far! I've Had Enough Of It!
Ok thanks. I would have given it to Christina
a rare double overbid, by two women!
I would have bid $1 to avoid the possibility of a double overbid.
February 23, 2006 was when ee would get it again.
I bet the ratings took a nosedive!!
A...cellaphone system?
2:47 Placing fingernail in teeth. What a ditz!
This wasn't the first time this happened during the Barker era when nobody won any of the pricing games and a double overbid in the Showcase, it happened again in the 2000's just a couple of years before Barker retired in 2007. I don't think that happen during the Drew Carey era yet.
But there was a contestant in the showcase showdown who over by $1.
There was once a contestant on The Price Is Right (the Carry era) who got the price of his showcase on the nose (no pun intended), and was suspected of cheating.
$1, I can't even imagine...but rules are rules
@@KevinMiller-xn5vuI remember that show.
@@KevinMiller-xn5vu That's spelled current _Price Is Right 👉🏻_ host Drew ➰ Carey (née Drew ➰ Allison Carey, both _The Drew ➰ Carey Show 📺_ and the original _Whose Line Is It Anyway?_),_ not Carry, but close enough. LOL 😆!
The most that anyone can go over in the Showcase Showdown is 95 cents. The Showcase Showdown involves spinning the wheel and sees who goes on to the Showcases.
The tv is hilarious...
Only contestant row prizes was won
And a $1,000 bonus at the wheel
4:37 Over by $25. Worst show of a winless games and double over.
Was this among the 71 winless shows Bob Barker revealed in Feb 2006?
4:15 Bob: Kristina, your bid is $16,520. And the actual retail price of your showcase is.....$14,620! You gone over. (Buzzer)
4:26 Bob: Now, Wendy. No matter how close you are. If you don't go over, you win your showcase. Your bid is $15,000. The actual retail price of your showcase is.......$14,975.
(Buzzer) (Losing Horn)
She went over by $25!
Now how often does a showcase at the end of the show end with a double overbid? If this was Press Your Luck I'd blame the Whammy. 😄😄😄😄😄😄
As Bob said , it was " Catastrophic "
