May not only that your voice sounds exactly like Peter Griffin from family Guy … but anyway … everyone wanted to put their hands on one of these models and you are the one who got them… double annoying:)) just kidding man enjoy them ;)
As a LEO, the glass breaker on the new combat troodon is a bit of a let down. I have to break auto glass a few times a year, usually to extricate someone from a vehicle. I have a ceramic glass breaker attached to my handgun weapon light, but often the person in the vehicle is not hostile, usually an OD, or traffic accident. I can not and will not point a firearm at them to break the auto glass. I like all the other features, but will stick to my original troodon. (In reality this is a moot point, I have probably 3 or 4 other methods of breaking glass. Love me some microtech!)
I just jumped into the rabbit hole of Microtech. It all started with an msi in October and stitch in November and yesterday I ordered a UTX 85 Tanto. Omg that herra is gorgeous
It's an addictive hobby...once you own high end knives, the cheap ones just feel and look like crap and now you're spending 500 and up on a blade...but there's a pride of ownership that you cant explain, its just a feeling, and you treat yourself because you deserve it!! Then comes the sting of "out of stock" and the the sleepless nights and cold sweats begin!!
I also just got my first few Microtech knives, first one was a Dirac Delta then the polymer handle MSI and I just got a Socom Bravo and I love all of them, hopefully soon I'll be able to add some more to the collection
@@chiefelephanttuskbong8081 I’ve been scrolling through different UTX 85 models trying to decide on a spartan blade or d/e 🤣. Till I can talk myself into 550 for a glycon
I like to compare it to fine wine or bourbon..you can get cheaper and they will still give you a buzz..but the higher quality bottles just feel right and taste better! Enjoy life and the finer things while you can!
I Really enjoy how much you Love Knives! All types of Knives too, small ones, inexpensive, expensive, ornate, new, old, many styles and uses.. You make me happy that I am not alone enjoying utilitarian everyday use knives and the Beauty Queens whom will only ever see little to no use other than to please my eyes hands and ears.... Wow..love microtech’s commitment to staying relevant. These are fsntastic upgrades. That LUDT is definately gonna be a pants shredder..still gonna get 1 👍
I LOVE my new LUDT! I have looked at them for years and never pulled the trigger. So glad I waited for this gen 3! Will be looking for an apoc finish to come out.
Glass breakers don't work as well on car windows from cars after 2018 or what ever because they are laminated to prevent it sprawling on people during roll over.
Random comment on glass breakers. They have their place. Especially with LEO and EMS. Little bro is Highway Patrol. He's commented that the 3 things he does most with a knife on duty are Break windows, Cut side curtain airbags, and Seatbelts after crashes. And he loses a knife every 6 months or so and swears by the kershaw blur, when I offered to get him a Microtech as a gift, he declined because 1. He's not a knife guy, he's a "tool" guy. and 2. he wouldn't want to lose it. I really like that recessed cap. But i'm not LEO and behind the lines in Komifornistan so I can't justify a $400 fidget toy that I can't take anywhere. edit: ok no proprietary screws, m390, no cone of death on the end, i might have to readjust my need for a home fidget toy...
Love the grooves in the slide area where the button is, it will capture debris and keep it from becoming too gritty too fast, it also has less friction due to less contact surface, I love the new trigger design of these new OTF’s!!
While you are adoring your new microtechs, Can you put an edge on a knife? what are the otf knives good for other than stabbing something. The LUDT is the best knife you purchased.. I own two Microtechs. A SOCOM elite and another model that would be useful in the woods. I am glad you like your microtechs they are well worth the price.
Got a Hera II mini. I knew it was small (same as my mini Griptilian) but an OTF that small just feels way too small vs. a small folder. I think it's the intimidation factor we are used to is missing from it. Still keeping it but it was a Spinal Tap stonehenge moment for me.
MC probably likes them all equally. As for me? I think the Glykon is sickest OTF you can buy. Got to handle one at a knife show last month and it was amazing. The tolerances were much higher than my regular Ultratechs and also much smoother to deploy. The tri-switch is also such a cool yet utilitarian design. I almost bought one while at the show, but I went and picked up two Pro-Techs for the price of one Glykon. A Mordax and Magic 1. I got the show exclusive Mordax and it is now my favorite button lock folder in my collection. Probably won't carry it because it's just too good to ruin. The Magic will probably be a collection piece as well. I'm not hard on my knives but it would be excruciating to scratch the anodizing or chip the blade. In the Pelican case they go! Lol
@P.W.R. I really want a Mordax, I got the padre in the pocket rn and been switching between it, the QC9 and the RamLok stitch, but I think either the Mordax or a new otf will be my next purchase.
I have been having problems with my Hera 2's deployment. When I retract the blade it bounces out of the locked position and disengages itself. It doesn't seem like mine is the only one doing it as well, most likely a problem with the design. It only happens if you hold it in a certain position, but is still unacceptable and is probably going back.
I got a Makora a month ago that was doing the same thing. I put some OTF oil in there and after about 8-10 firings it has never failed again. For reference I have 12 other Microtechs that have never failed to fire.
Wonder if they borrowed the lighter button/action design from Heretic (Marfione kid's company)? My Manticore X is so much smoother and easier to open than my CT. Cleric II has even better button action and superior button placement (IMO) too. I do like the CT re-design quite a bit but probably not enough to buy it when I already own that sexy AF Manticore X. The proprietary screws are really pointless now when every $50 Chinese clone comes with the tools. I really like the move to 4" blades too.
I already knew you could get more length by measuring from the base. I got the Gen 3 Combat Troodon, and it's a big upgrade. It has taken over as my favorite. I only carry my other Microtechs when i feel sorry for them and let them out to play. Other than that, it's the Gen 3 Troodon always.
8:20 The standard 142-10 CT is $536 USD and the new 1142-10 CT is $450 USD. So its a great savings on the new Gen III. 🤠👍 Can't wait for new styles and blades on the new knives as well as the new Scarab II!
EDCandLace: Out of the stitch and msi I had and sold the following day because of both having HRCs in the 58s and sharpening about 50 of them in the last 3 months... they are SOFT, it's soft enough that it is noticeably gummy on the stones. Plus the action on both of them is mushy as hell. I received both of mine in the same day, had them poked later that day and sold the next morning lol. If you buy a knife to use and expect serviceable edge retention then you will not be happy.
I just bought the new LUDT last week and love it even though I'm not a fan of the grip tape. I saw one person on RUclips install a pair of timascus inlays on his Socom Elite and it looked pretty damn good so I'm hoping I can find some aftermarket inlays for the LUDT. I'd even be happy with something like black micarta. Anyone know of any options?
What the heck is holding the Hera 2 together? The only screw I could see is the lanyard hole screw. Is there like an internal hook or something on the front end?
So my question is this. New microtech smoother than a guardian tactical? Because I wanted to get one. But if microtech action is now better, I'll wait.
Any body now why I cannot buy ANY style of microtech knives in Washington state? I tried buying the MSI on BladeHQ and I couldn't complete the purchase
My go to vendor is sold out but it’s ok I can wait. That gen 3 Troodon is my next purchase. Been wanting that for a long time and it’s even better now…and cheaper!

I heard that the new LUDT has bearing, is that true? It’s a bit confusing if it is because of the whole under water part of the name

Is the texture on the LUDT more rubbery feeling or is it textured aluminum? I’ve never felt that texture on any of the microtechs yet.

Both otfs cut/slice just fine. The LUDT is just better. Yes, I can and do sharpen my knives periodically. I use a KME
Wish they'd do the LUDT and UDT in the ram lock (or some iteration of it)
That would be frigging awesome
Love everything about the new body of the otf. Hoping and praying they continue this on every other model. Then I would buy new microtechs

Hopefully they fixed their heat treats on m390 cause the 58.7 ltk tested an msi at is unacceptable on a knife that costs hundreds of dollars

The difference in price point, is the m390mk. %100. Even softer than their normal m390, which is already too soft. This has been verified.
