In the 1920's the British real estate industry decided that selling homes on 'dead end' streets wasn't very marketable. So they came up instead with a French term _cul de sac,_ which means bottom of bag *and* arse of sack (which is why the *French* don't use this phrase, esp. on signs as this is _impolie,_ rude). Cue 1937, and Tolkien's Hobbit publishes. In it is the protagonist "Baggins", a troglodyte (at least when he's at home) whose grandish domicile is called "Bag End" which lies atop a road, under -a- The Hill, that eventually ends dead. The poorer hobbits lived off this road on "Bagshot Row". Baggins' awful relation was also surnamed "Sackville-Baggins". I think the philologist in Tolkien was having some wordplay fun here (as is commonly their wont). He wasn't impressed with French (nor no doubt with the *French),* and he may have been poking some fun at how the English use French words to make things seem grander than they really are. Good old Tollers.
1:32 "People will be able to go into one of the two hobbit holes." They should paint one brown and one pink so we know which one we are allowed to go through.
They spent £200mn $283mn, building sets, and even a whole viking themed rohan settlement, yet somehow, dodgy Rings of Power with unknown actors, shitty looking armour, and ugly looking rings, and probably the worst CGI and writing I have ever seen, $950mn USD? No one can argue that Amazon is trying to avoid income tax, by passing it off as an expense.

Visiting Hobbiton is on my bucket list: I'm glad I haven't been able to go yet, because now I'll be able to go into a Hobbit hole when I do!
Oh wow! I wish I worked there. Visiting it once would not be enough.
I had the chance to go about 5 years ago and loved it. Now with this extra bonus it must be fantastic to see.
This is amazing! I really hope I can go one day. Thank you to everyone who put passion into making this happen 😊
Shayne was wearing the ring..!!! (around his neck, like Frodo). See you in March, Hobbiton! :-)
My fondest wish is to live out my days in a Hobbit hole 😊❤🇨🇦✅
WOW! I did a visit/tour about a decade ago and it was awesome.

Now I have an excuse to go back lol.
