The left most mini circle is your normal "seconds hand" (always ticking, along with the minute and hour hand) The big "second hand" is actually like a stopwatch, it sits at the top of the face till activated, and the right most mini circle tracks how long that stopwatch has been running in minutes, 0-30, and the bottom most mini circle tracks how long that stopwatch has been running in hours, 0-12.
Ok knew all that but CAN you or Should you run the chronograph second hand for any length of time…like all day? It looks gorgeous sweeping so smoothly around the dial.
Now the subdial at the 9 ‘o clock position is for the ACTUAL time, not the chronograph, but can we switch it? Can we make the big second hand the primary timekeeping one and the subdial second hand for the chronograph? And if we can, can you plz post another vid showing it with different watches like the Daytona, Speedmaster and others?
@@CaptainSnappy not all chronos do have the tachymeter scale. i would have more chronos if the actual seconds were in the center. but nobody does this :-(
@@frankkami4286You can get that in quartz chronos. I have a budget quartz Seiko that has the running seconds on the main hand, 1/10s on one subdial, seconds on another, and minutes (up to 30) on the last subdial. But, as far as mechanical movements go, I haven’t seen any that do that. It doesn’t mean that they don’t exist. It just means that I, a random individual on the internet, haven’t seen or heard of anything like that.
That's because he didn't explain it very well...The 9:00 register functions like the sweep seconds hand on a non-chronograph. In other words, it IS tied to the main minute and hour hands, and DOES tell you the exact time. Not sure what the "misconception" is that he was talikng about. The big sweeping seconds hand is tied to the chrono and the 30-minute and 12-hour registers.
In the video the "normal" or "main" second hand is running. It is normally not running and stuck at the 12 o clock position. Instead, the sub dial at the 9 o clock position shows you what second it is. It is the second hand. The big second hand is for the chrononeter function, which is Ike an old school timer
I still don’t know what the subregister at 9 o’clock does. Is it seconds for the stop watch? If so, why didn’t it reset when he pushed the reset button?
the clock has 6 hands. 3 for the clock and 3 for the timer. The clock's seconds hand is actually the small one at the 9 o'clock position. The minute and hour hands are in their usual spot in the center. The timer's second hand is where the traditional seconds hand use to be. (The big skinny one in the center.) The minute hand in the 3 o'clock and the hours hand at the 6o'clock position.
Actually I have been watching Teddy's channels for like a year now and I still had no idea. I was always confused and never came across video where it would be explained, until now.
Before this video I didn’t know what those were for and after the video still don’t know what they are for

@@c3kilethank you that was easier to understand
Facts teddys explanation was not helpful in this vid.
I have no idea what you said
This must be the worst way to explain anything
The smallest sub-register at 9 is simply a small-seconds dial.
That watch looks so good against that red 😍
Very good explanations. Thx Teddy 💕
Right? Just got mine today, so I needed this reel.

The big second hand needs to be tied to the chronograph for the tachymetre scale to be functional

Er... you may want to listen to this voice over teddy. The part about the 9 o'clock subdial is totally wrong.
I still don't understand the function of the subdial at 9 o'clock

@@squaretail12 I’m glad I’m not the only one who thought he wasn’t clear. He had me second guessing my understanding. Thank you for confirming.

No, this is the running second hand for the standard watch.
Finally someone explained it
I still don’t get it you gonna have to explain it to me like I know nothing about watches
the 12 hour register should be changed to an 24 hour register otherwise what's the point of having 2 12 hour clocks in a single watch
Nice items
Does anyone keep their chrono second hand at 6 o’clock?
Yes.... Doesn't block the logo, etc that way... 😊😊😊
I've just set mine like this and I find it's easier to quickly read the time. Thanks for the tip 😊
Nice
It still doesnt make sense to me...speak layman pls

Whatever you do, don’t be a teacher.
They should put a 24hr clock at 6 o clock instead of 12
They should put a second crown inside the first one so you can still wind the watch if you have small fingers
I've never liked the dial on the Speedmaster. Tacky, way too busy. Omega makes a lot prettier watches than that.
Standard
It comes with a 50m WR. Which is a big no for me, sadly I dont want to own the watch.
Good thing Omega makes the Seamaster so those of us who want a robust luxury watch still have a fantastic option!
Present
I’m still waiting for someone to actually walk on the moon before i buy that stupid ass watch.
But… we have been to the moon before
Teddy! Why are you explaining stuff to people who don't even watch your channel. If they did you wouldn't have to explain this.
