It went on and on. This rig might put some local command centers to shame. :) Stephen doesn't half-ass it anyway. Nice job of just letting him run the tour. Well done.
I would be very interested in a tutorial on how Stephen set up the 50in monitor to display the 4 27in monitors. Software and Hardware Equipment purchase list as well. Thanks for all your efforts! Dave N2KTO
I had the pleasure of getting a tour from Stephen of Studio B at Hamfest. He is one of the most knowledgeable hams I have ever met. Thank you Jason for posting the interview.
Now that is cool.. What a great use of that space !! Awesome to see his passion for the hobby ! He did a great not only showing us the setup, but explaining everything too
Dang! I saw this thing parked up there and if I had any notion of what it was I would have taken a tour of it. This guy has done it 100% right. What a great setup.
I'm thinking Mr. Smith does very little fishing. There's a lot to learn here. I just picked up some great info and I've been a ham over 25 years. GREAT setup, lots of love put into that thing! 73 y'all. W1ADE
Nice setup of a mobile broadcast and ham station in a trailer! I have always been thinking of trying APRS, but never venturerd into it. 73 de Jon, VU2JO
aMAZin! This is how I would have mine setup!! Love it! Did you see how he has the HDMI splitter and 4 screens setup on one? Maybe a tv function? Thanks Jason!
They keep transmitted audio from sounding like he's trapped in a can, especially useful for microphones without noise cancelling and tight environments. That's me take. TONS of youtube content creators could use sound panels to improve their productions. Jason is not one.
Stephen ought to find a hobby he enjoys, he clearly is bored with technology (obviously only kidding). Really a very nice set-up and great video. Thanks for showing this.
So, under what call sign and authorization is he using the AM and FM broadcast equipment? I didn't see a parrot or eye patch, so surely it is not a pirate station.
I did hear him say "low power" and I do think that's the key to his broadcasting-that it's below an output threshold where commercial licensing is required. But I'm purely speculating. Wait this is the internet... Unlicensed operation on the AM and FM radio broadcast bands is permitted for some extremely low powered devices covered under Part 15 of the FCC's rules. On FM frequencies, these devices are limited to an effective service range of approximately 200 feet (61 meters). See 47 CFR (Code of Federal Regulations) Section 15.239, and the July 24, 1991 Public Notice (still in effect). On the AM broadcast band, these devices are limited to an effective service range of approximately 200 feet (61 meters). See 47 CFR Sections 15.207, 15.209, 15.219, and 15.221. These devices must accept any interference caused by any other operation, which may further limit the effective service range.
@@wadepatton2433 I see when he gets into the antenna portion around 11:30 in the video: he has an external 'range extender' antenna for the AM part 15 transmitter. He states he gets 1/2 to 3/4 miles with that. Essentially, my interpretations is with the built in antenna on the 'talking house' transmitter, it is a legal part 15 setup. Once you add the external antenna, it is no longer operating within the rules of part 15. He does not mention any antenna for the FM side, so perhaps he is running just the built in part 15 antenna. His website does not go into any detail on the broadcast side of his trailer.

This is a true hamradio guy! The amount of thought that has gone into this setup is impressive. Love it!
A ham radio treasure. A disappearing breed. Great video.
Many thanks!
That is definitely a magnificent mobile HAMSHACK. Many, if not all, club trailers pale in comparison. Thanks for sharing KM4ACK & WA8LMF. 73 W!RKB

Stephen is the man! He has been so helpful to me. His website is solid gold if you are into APRS.
Great setup, very impressive. He explained it well, too. Love it!
It's been years since I heard the term "AM stereo." Amazing it still exists.
I met Stephen when he worked at So Cal gas of California when I was with EF Johnson in the 90's
I REALLY like this video Jason. Please do more like this. Put this into my favorites to watch again and take notes! Robert KD4YDC
You could fill a notebook if you sat down with him!
Quite the setup, very impressive. First I've heard it referred to as "appers".
It's way more common than I first thought.
Just plain AWESOME!!!!!!
That is more information than I can process.
Set the play back speed lower, repeat, pause (a lot) and take notes. 🤣
It's quite well-done and worth learning a few things. 73

Such a cool and amazing setup.
This was a very interesting and a very good set-up. Great video! I second the 'video of the day' nomination.
Impressive 👍🏻
What a cool setup! Thanks for sharing!
WOW! Very impressive, he has it going on. I would never be able to think of all that let alone figure it out and make it work.
What does he use the AM and FM (broadcast, I'm assuming) transmitters for?
Stephen is amazing! Wow. I've been a ham for under 6 months. He's blowing my mind! Need to find an Elmer like him.

Stephen is quite the guy. Very smart
Great video!
Stephen's hard work is more akin to a radio professional, the only thing missing is a kettle for a brew, God bless.
That is a nice set up
Dude is my new hero
Nice setup of a mobile broadcast and ham station in a trailer! I have always been thinking of trying APRS, but never venturerd into it. 73 de Jon, VU2JO

Now that is cool!

I'd love to have a setup like that!
You and I both!

pretty sweet. I wish I had that kind of money to do what I love to do.
This guy is next level!
Might I suggest a roof mounted Barret model 82a to defend his position? Fantastic setup!
😂
Kick butt camper rig!
Great video, thanks!
Thanks Jason. KO4HPC 73
I'd like to learn more about the sound absorption panels: How well to they work and what specific problem did they solve in this context.
They keep transmitted audio from sounding like he's trapped in a can, especially useful for microphones without noise cancelling and tight environments. That's me take.
TONS of youtube content creators could use sound panels to improve their productions. Jason is not one.
Out Standing!!!
Watching for the third time--now wondering what his fixed-station shack looks like, and what we might learn there.
Dang… I was just thinking of an A-liner !
Now you know how to position the radios if you get one :-)
Okay. My brain is fried. What's he going to do next week? WOW.
WOW
Awesome setup! How long does it take to setup?
I wanna be like Steven when (if) I grow up
Met this guy at a local swap meet. Incredibly knowledgable but boy can he talk!
Steve is Mr. UIview.
Stephen ought to find a hobby he enjoys, he clearly is bored with technology (obviously only kidding). Really a very nice set-up and great video. Thanks for showing this.
Wow, what a setup! K5TGS
What was Steven website?

I wish I had asked for some clarification on this. I'll have to do a bit of research.

All that and he still cannot access LOTW!! :)
Cool set up, but he keeps trying to make APRS a word instead of the abbreviation that it is.
Feelings of inferiority abound 🙁
I know, right. Lol
This is REDONKULOUS!
AM Pirate radio station! & Nobody cares! 😢
Wow Great set up. KQ4SBN, WSAW221.
I'm jealous! Wish I was there! 🫤
