Dad had one of these monster wall clocks, won it at the yearly HRO sponsored Ham Fest. He auctioned it off at a charity picnic and rehung his Barry Goldwater 1964, presidentoal campaign poster. 😊 Miss you Dad, N7JWF/AE7AD 73s from Flagstaff, KD7CKT
Hi Jim just ordered one. Set up looks smooth. Should arrive early next week. Us-uk delivery £38. Bundle with shipping £86. I’ll update next week on how I got on. You stay safe and well. Regards Steve G7LJL
Just Bought The Ham Clock Bundle with The Keyboard & I Cant Wait To Start playing around with it ! It Really Is A Great Device At a Great Price ! I am a Pc Nerd/Enthusiast & could easily run in a VM but the time & effort it would take to Install & set it up & get ever thing Working It Was Just Easier & Faster to Just Buy The Inovato Quadro with every thing already installed & ready to use out of the box ! I Think Every Ham Should Have one !
Great job, Jim. Thank you so so much for what you do. We need more thoughtful and intelligent elmers like yourself out there. Peace be with you and best wishes with your health concerns. 73 de Scott, W1AL
I have one and was looking for something to do with it and this is it. I just went to the website and bookmarked it so I can install the program. Thanks Jim, you're looking good.
The little charmer is humming like a little mazda...I even dropped a 40mm x 10mm usb fan in the stand for cooling. We shall see how that works. Staying under 45c so far.@@ham-radio
Just ordered one after watching your video. Some of the abbreviations may need explanations but you did well explaining For those who are mobile frequently use the repeater book app , it will display your current grid square (EM76ww) for today QRZ only shows correct if you haven’t moved and have a new address , they don’t automatically update the grid square based on your new address
This is based on the T95 android TV box. You just need to be sure the processor in the box is the H616. He has an image to convert it to a "hambox" on his website. One caveat is that they do run hot and could use a bigger heatsink and a fan on the processor.
@@fencepost5178 I've got one with the board sitting outside the case with a bigger heatsink. It still crashes occasionally and all it is running is ADSB programs. I've 3D printed a new case with a fan holder but now I have to find where the 5v 40mm fans are stored. They're in a container somewhere in the shack.
Got mine today! Really cool except I didn’t set it to fit my tv screen properly and can’t figure out how to get back to the desktop with that little keyboard thing that comes in the bundle lol. Oh well at least it works.
Let them know it was because of this video. I don;t get any money from them. I just wanted to help them a little since they were so nice and the product was well worth the money. 73, Jim W6LG
I have 4 of these computer doing different things around the shack. I even have one in my POTA box so I can do FT8 at the park. The nice thing is the Inovato Forum is welcoming and helpful
Glad you spotted that on my QRZ page when you asked me about what was running on that monitor! I agree, every ham shack should have one Hi, hi. One other tip, when you get a second, change the password on the PC, clumsy one, typical vowel replacement (secret) pasword, make it something simple. Take care. 73, Dan AB5VJ
Like others, I ordered everything you recommended before the video even finished... figured there is probably going to be a run on these when your video is viewed, so I decided I'd better not procrastinate. I simply can't believe the prices, and better yet the OS is Linux. You're looking and sounding good Jim, I hope that means the scale is now tilting very much in your favor. 73, Conrad KN6VMK
Good! I suspect that they will have a bunch of orders. Blood tests are trending downhill. I will have more results on Sunday. I am hoping for some improvement WBC is getting into that scary range. Thanks for caring. 73, Jim W6LG
Thanks Jim, for yet *another* great piece of advice! I had mine ordered before I'd even finished your video. Having had my ticket for just under five years; I began lusting after a GeoChron even before I'd sat for my Tech exam. I too however, had despaired over the price. What a wonderful solution! Thanks again!! 73 de KC3NAB.
Bought one. Looking forward to setting it up! Thank you for the review and walkthrough. As always you do a great job and provide a wonderful service to the community. Looking good, hope you’re doing well.
Thanks. Actually I am on that slippery slope with WBC going downhill quickly. I will do a video after tomorrow results. I am hoping for an improvement. 73, Jim
Did the same thing making a hamclock from a $15 Pi Zero 2 W from Microcenter. (They receive limited quantities and limit per customer numbers, but it’s getting better!) Anyone doing that will need an adapter from the smaller HDMI connector to regular size. I already had that adapter from previous Pi Zero work, the USB power source and monitor. Only downside of hamclock is the graphics are rendered on the author’s server. No Internet, or author’s server goes away, it dies. Still no complaints for $15!! Not sure why so many ham developers don’t publish their build tree and release binary images like it’s a Windows box! Haha. Sheesh. Impressively rude, considering the years of effort behind the Linux distros they’re all basing their images on… who provide them source code. Hope you’re feeling better.
Great Video, Jim. Thanks for mentioning this video to the group when we talked on 20M the other day. This will make a great addition to my station! It will make a great Christmas gift to myself. Hope to see you on 20M again real soon! 73 Al KC9YS (yellow submarine)

Jim, from the thumbnail I recognised Hamclock (which I run on a Raspberry Pi), I expected this to be a far more expensive product. Without delving into the specifics this significantly undercuts most Pi solutions on price. Seems nice. My question in general is why this or a geochron needs to be a stand alone computer versus a software app?
Because nobody made one yet.
