I had the sudden itch to emulate a game after watching a PS1 let's play and my god was this such an easy and simple to follow tutorial with essential tips.
Great tutorial! Personally I have a PS1 and some Sony Trinitrons to pair with it, but this is nice to have as an alternative and a good way to archive the PS1 in general.
I had the same issue with covers downloading but not displaying on my M1 Mac Mini. I had to change the save location for the covers in settings, re-downloaded, and the covers showed up correctly.
It’s the Apple video wallpaper from Sonoma for the Oregon coast. It’s super close to where I grew up. A few of my videos have scenes only shot miles from that area. If you’ve seen my PowerMac G4 on a cliff next to the ocean b-roll, it’s about a 30 minute drive from where Apple shot their footage.
xBR Texture Filtering gives me choppy audio and overall lag. I have a 2014 rMBP 2.8/2GB Nvidia. JINC2 (Slow) doesn't have the glitchy audio, but I really don't know the differences with these settings. Any suggestion on which to use in my case with my limited machine specs?
My MacBook 2017 12” is similar, I ended up using one of the faster texture smoothing options and only scaling to 720p to get full frame rates. I just had to play with it until I was maintaining speed. For older machines it’s trial and error.

I hate Apple but I gotta hand it to them, they sure know how to make a nice looking desktop OS

Nice, Trinitrons are starting to be hard to come by
I’ve got a variety of CRTs, awesome to use especially with equipment meant for them.
Excellent work Greg, as always.

Interesting I’ll have to try that
Amazing tutorial, thanks Gregg, completely unrelated but what’s that gorgeous wallpaper you’re using on your desktop? Looks so nice

If it ever happens, can you make a tutorial on Xenia or any 360 emulators that can run on Mac?
Nice
I see this needed Mac OS 9 and Virtual Game Station lol
PS1 and PS2 emulators can't see my Superdrive, they don't even ask permission to access removable drives, strange
With the PS2, I just made my own ISOs using disk utility. I never tried to play the game discs directly
Where do i find the ps1 games? Can i buy them online?
Can you do that on Macbook Air M1?
