Two years after he and his Autobot friends saved the Earth from the Decepticons, Sam Witwicky (Shia LaBeouf) faces a new battle: college. Meanwhile, Optimus Prime and the Autobots are working with a secret military organization and trying to make a home for themselves on Earth. When an ancient Decepticon known as The Fallen rises up to wreak vengeance, Sam and his girlfriend, Mikaela, must figure out the history of the Transformers on Earth and find a way to defeat The Fallen once and for all.
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen is a 2009 American science fiction action film based on Hasbro's Transformers toy line. The film is the second installment in the Transformers film series and the sequel to Transformers (2007). The film is directed by Michael Bay and written by Ehren Kruger, Roberto Orci, and Alex Kurtzman. Taking place two years after the previous film, the story revolves around Optimus Prime (voiced by Peter Cullen), Sam Witwicky (Shia LaBeouf) and the Autobots allying once again in the war against the Decepticons, led by Megatron (voiced by Hugo Weaving). Sam begins seeing strange Cybertronian symbols in his right eye, and is being hunted by the Decepticons under the orders of Megatron's master the Decepticon named the Fallen (voiced by Tony Todd), who seeks to get revenge on Earth by finding and activating a machine that would destroy the Sun and all life in the process.
With deadlines jeopardized by possible strikes by the Directors Guild of America and the Screen Actors Guild, Bay managed to finish the production on time with the help of previsualization and a scriptment. Shooting took place between May and September 2008, with locations in Egypt, Jordan, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and California, as well as air bases in New Mexico and Arizona. It is the last film in the series to star Megan Fox.
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen premiered on June 8, 2009, in Tokyo and was released on June 24 in the United States. The film received generally negative reviews from critics. It won three Golden Raspberry Awards at the 30th Golden Raspberry Awards ceremony and became the highest-grossing film to win the Worst Picture award. Nonetheless, the film surpassed its predecessor's box office gross worldwide with $836.5 million, making it the fourth-highest-grossing film of 2009. It was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Sound Mixing, at the 82nd Academy Awards. With over 11 million home media sales in 2009, it was also the top-selling film of the year in the United States. It was followed by Transformers: Dark of the Moon in 2011.

I always assumed he didn’t know she was a con and was just beating her up cause she’s trying to hit on Sam. Since she is able to mimic human skin in her transformation I kinda thought she can hide her scent or ig signature that she’s a con

The forest scene one of the best moments in cgi and choreographing history. Jetfire is such an endearing character, and the fight against the Devestator and the Fallen is so good.

Tony Todd (The Original Candyman) plays the Fallen. His voice acting on certain characters like Darkseid in the animated Justice League movies is amazing

a lot of people hate this movie but it's my favorite out of the bayverse ones. it was also the first one i ever saw! the fight scenes and music are amazing, and honestly the story wasnt TOO terrible here, it still had a little bit of integrity even if there was a lot of humor lol. i still turn this on often just for some fun vibes and nostalgia
The Decepticons aren't the default, in this contuinity they are cybertronians that were corrupted by the Fallen, who was very weak at the time of the movie because he had been trapped in an interdimentional prision, so, to get out he wasted a lot of energy, as for why Jetfire and the Fallen could teleport, they were some of the first cybertronians to exist, with Fallen being part of the primes, the first beings created by the cube, and Jetfire being one of the "second generation" of cybertronians, the seekers, who directly served the primes, with Jetfire being the Fallen's right hand, until he discover his plans to betray all the others primes, since he was serving Fallen in his search of suns for the Starharvester until that point, so, Optimus using Jetfire as an upgrade was the clossest Jetfire got to a revenge on the Fallen for the betrayal on him.

33:27 I loved Jetfires explanation about switching to Autobots. 34:17 he was in a bad car accident and damaged his hand so instead of waiting for it to heal they wrote it into the script. 46:14 well the wrecking balls had to go somewhere. 49:12 wish they would’ve done more with Jolt cause in the comics he’s a prankster. Even though I thought Skids and Mudflaps were funny I think they could’ve gotten the same comedy from Jolt.
I remember going to the theater to see this in 2009. I was so devastated when Optimus Prime was killed by Megatron. But I love the revenge shot in the scene where Optimus goes two-on-one against Megatron and The Fallen. Nothing was more karmic than seeing Optimus make Megatron shoot himself in the face with his own cannon.
the twins (Skids and Mudflap, Skids is the green one and Mudflap is the red one) they aren't racist stereotypes, that's just straight up misinformation, they're actually wannabe gangsters and there was never an explanation for them not being able to read, other than they can't and they don't. this is my favourite movie of all time and I love the franchise because of this movie, I'm sad that this universe no longer exists but i'm able to accept that the Bayverse is over (unlike most people) I recommend watching Theorymus, he's really good at explaining everything about the Bayverse

Looking back, I forgot how good the special effects, music, and fight scenes were in this movie. But DAMN, the human characters really drag this movie down (even deeper than where Megatron's corpse was left 😅)

one thing about these movies is that they are ridiculous fun and have great optimus prime speeches with a great soundtrack
Fun fact: that opening Shanghai sequence was actually filmed in Bethlehem Pennsylvania which is about 3hrs from where I live. My one aunt actually lives there and took me to see that set when I was a kid.

This one is underrated in my opinion. I was a kid who grew up watching the animated show and reading the comics. For me, watching the lore unfold was great. The fight scenes in this one are also the best in the series in my opinion.
This TF movie was one of the lowest for me though it has some great moments as well. The forest fight scene was one of the best in the movie and the death of Optimus was one of the most iconic moments of not just the movies but also the entire Transformers series as well. As about the twins, Skids and Mudflap, they were in the original cartoon in 1986 but they were way different, I mean in their personality. As for the big combiner transformer, yep, they are indeed a thing in the TF franchise. But only a few Transformers can combine not all. In more recent lore, they acheived the power of combination through this device called The Enigma of Combination which gives them the ability to combine into larger transformers. The one in the movie is called Devastator, though in the cartoon he was less monstrous-like and more robot-like like the other transformers (which I much prefer). As for the Matrix of Leadership, in this movie it is explained that it is earned. That is in most cases in the more recent transformers lore where Orion Pax (before he become Optimus Prime) earned the Matrix by proving himself that he was worthy to wield the power of the Matrix and the knowledge of past Primes that came before.
Oh, I've almost forgetten to add. The Fallen is the first Decepticon. Before he become The Fallen he was known as Megatronus and basically what led him to become the first Decepticon is his differing idealogies with his fellow Primes

I’ve always loved revenge of the fallen despite how ridiculous and stupid it is logically but what I learned in film school is the reason why this film had a bunch of flaws and weird lines is because they did not have an official script on set. This was filmed during the summer of 2008 during the writers strike which affected many 2009 movies like this one.

Alice is a special breed of Transformer, a Pretender, they're come from a Japan-only sequel to the original 80s cartoon, called Transformers: Super-God Masterforce, they also appeared in the comics, when Hasbro let their I.P. to Marvel Comics in 80s.
And Starscream mentions to Megatron after they killed Optimus Prime that he can't detect the Autobots and that they must be shielding their signal. Not farfetched to assume the Decepticons can do that too.
This movie was almost rated R cause y'know why because when The Fallen takes the matrix and kills a few humans one of the soldiers got decapitated and you can see blood coming out.

I was just happy to have a Pretender show up. They were in the comics and toys, but not really in the actual show. Bay actually showed some restraint here, as Decepticon Pretenders tended to be space werewolves and creaturelike things. Great reaction to a not so terrible Transformers flick. Next up is better.

This is literally my favourite film ever and my favourite of all the Transformers films, very controversial opinion, also, Creating Devastator actually made a computer explode because it was so complex with sooooo many parts, so they had to use quite a few computers to create it, definitely one of the most if not the most compliacted CGI pieces in history

In this movie's defense, the script wasn't all that strong or as strong as the first one due to the Writer's Strike in 2008 where at the time they only had outlines and made up a lot of stuff (including lines) on the spot.
Imagine how much more goated this movie would be with a better script. It was good enough for what we got though.
Alot of the autobots that get little screen time are ones from the original show that are just there as an Easter egg/reference like the Arcee Twins(the 3 bikes) are really famous characters

I hate to admit it, but I love this movie. It may be my overall favorite 'Transformers' movie because of the fight scenes. I agree that the human element drags this down so much though. I hate how much they focus on humans. We all just want to watch a bunch of alien robots fight. And they went way too overboard with the humor in this. The "twins" and the little decepticon, and Leo, Simmons, and the parents. It was just too much. Everyone wanted to be the comic relief and it was over the top in a movie about alien robots. But I still dig this movie for the action. When Optimus drops down in the beginning...perfect. And the forest battle is freaking amazing. And even the fight at the end (even though it is beyond easy). Oh well, I still love it.
Unpopular opinion apparently, I loved this one. Fight in the forest then Jetfire then Jetfire + Optimus made some insane fight scenes. With Transformers I want to see robots fight and the good guys sacrifice themselves to win in the end against all odds, this did it.
