In 2006, DNA from semen found on Bonnie's body was matched to Kenneth Dion through the CODIS national DNA database. He was in prison in New Hampshire for a series of armed robberies when the match was made. At the time of her murder, he lived in the area, was on probation for robbery, and had been released from an Alaska prison just a few months earlier. In 2007, Dion was charged with raping and murdering Bonnie. It is believed that the crime was a random act of violence. At trial, he claimed that he had consensual sex with her, and that she accidentally fell to her death while alone at the creek. However, when first questioned, he claimed that he did not know her; her family and friends did not know him either. He also could not account for his whereabouts on the day that she vanished (his wife said that he was not home the entire week). Furthermore, the medical examiner determined that her injuries were caused by a blunt object or weapon, not from a fall. At the time, he carried martial arts weapons in his car, which could have inflicted the injuries. Also, a leaf with her blood on it was found above the cliff area, suggesting that she was already injured before "falling" from the cliff. Finally, her family noted that she was in a strict, committed relationship with her boyfriend at the time, and would not have had sex with someone else, especially a complete stranger. Dion was found guilty of her murder on June 15, 2011. He was sentenced to 124 years in prison on October 31, 2011.

I do not justify what happened to the elderly gentleman, but some times an elderly person you are caring for can start becoming senile and become aggressive abusive and combative to their care givers, so when that happens you need to report it, not keep it to yourself until the stress get to you and you then do something you later regret....

Because they train dogs to smell for certain smells, such as bombs, drugs, cadavers, and human scent. The dogs are trained to alert and either sit, lie down, or paw, etc when they smell what they have been trained to smell.

The Watkins case was gut wrenching. Tho it was nice to read that he was identified and eventually buried in Arlington National Cemetery. I hope he had a burial with full military honors. (He was a WW2 Vet). Rip❤️❤️
2:42 Just amaze, every time I see these tragedies and it's all the same, how this woman went alone like that. It's just dangerous but it happens everyday and it takes one moment to go all wrong. I car would have prevented this.
Also Police and the investigations and investigators, are lazy
20:40 20 years for killing...wow Kentucky!!!
I do not justify what happened to the elderly gentleman, but some times an elderly person you are caring for can start becoming senile and become aggressive abusive and combative to their care givers, so when that happens you need to report it, not keep it to yourself until the stress get to you and you then do something you later regret....
Like Joe Biden?
You write shit
This women is an amazing mom its like they say, " you just don't mess with a momma bear. " most cops nowadays can't be trusted. Just like with most people in general nowadays they cannot be trusted either. Our Lord said it clearly in his parable. Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. Matthew 7:15-20
Has there ever been a case of random strewn bones, thought to be one human frame, but only to be proved to come from different persons? That would be difficult.
I love these stories. Unsolved mysteries was always the best.
Criminal revenge is so rare. It’s likely her daughter was wooed by a young man to go hiking and he either made a pass at her or his intentions were nefarious from the beginning.
My mother's dog has always been able to tell just before I go into a grand-mal seizure. She starts barking when I'm on my way down.
HOW DID SHE ONLY GET 33 YEARS???!!!!
Exactly 33 years for killing an elderly person who was in her care should have received the death penalty
K.S.G _91 how did 2 people on an earlier episode get only 6 years for double homicide? Its the justice system, its broken. Someone goes out & kills this woman for what she did, that person would probably get the death penalty.
I've seen worse. There was a man that beat his wife to death and he only got 6 because 'crime of passion'.
EXACTLY. I dont do drugs, but I think its BS that over a certain amount of pot, can get you a life sentence, but manslaughter you are out in 6.
Was it really worth it to do undercover drug buys for the police? I don’t think so.
well that ended up being a moot point.
27:00 made sure she plugged her company's name 😂🤣😆
Yup
Shame the Bonnie Craig case turned out to be the Karen Campbell case
Damn they really showed an actual picture of someone deceased?
What kind of name is Daddysman? Did they make a typo?
Office Jackson looked like he was about to pull his gun and yell at the body in the bags to "FREEEEEEEEEZE!"
Lol yeah, he was a little rattled.I would’ve been too.Especially at night.
Karen went undercover as a ninja 😂
I'd swear at 30:01 that there's....evidence....that the dog is male.
LOL I just noticed that..
Miya is a boy afterall😂😂😂
And I thought schnauzer weren’t qualified as a service animal.
Mystery within mystery; se 12, ep 2. Why does a drunken idiot (assuming his story is true) get 20 yrs, for manslaughter, & other, stone cold killers only get a few years for murder 1?
Incredible, you simply could not make it up !
27:01 Dogs don't even stay pregnant for 8 months.
Office Jackson thinks 'what if there is a body here" and lo & behold!
I can't name how many episodes of this show include at least one segment that shows clear police negligence in the cases, it's irritating how long these go without solving because someone didn't want to do their job!
Why did Bonnie’s mother NOT take her kid with her on vacation? That’s horrible
Sundiata Keita who is a whore? The dead daughter?
Bonnie was an adult and going to college. There's nothing wrong with her mother going on a trip by herself. It doesn't even say that they lived together. You're horrible for implying that it was her mother's fault.
She was a young adult. For f's sake!!
@@darkkiss7247 fuck off
She gets 10,000 for "her bad back" but she just casually walks down the street? It took me 3.5 years to get on SSI and they finally made an off the bench decision for "overwhelming medical evidence"
Great story
I would say a dog could smell disease on a human like cancer but how would they tell you
Many ways look and Google and see
Body language or give some kind of ALERT
Amongst other things
Because they train dogs to smell for certain smells, such as bombs, drugs, cadavers, and human scent. The dogs are trained to alert and either sit, lie down, or paw, etc when they smell what they have been trained to smell.
Did you even watch the segment? The whole bit about Mia the dog, who wasn't even trained like official disease-detecting dogs, shows exactly how they would 'tell'.
I love the updates but I would love to know why Bonnie Craig was murdered, was the guy part is the drug dealers that the mum got convicted?
carleycarleyb it was a random act and she was raped
How'd the theme song go from downright terrifying to a dollar store B-movie knockoff of itself? 🥴
I agree. They should have never messed with the intro music.
When she said she went out and bought crack five or six times for the police department, she left out the five or six hundred times she bought crack for herself
What makes you assume or believe that she bought & abused crack cocaine?
WTF is wrong with you???
Slow learner
@36:36 Major jump scare!
Detecting a person's low blood sugar, by a dog, is also a smell thing.
Yes dogs are amazing.
Do anybody else notice most of these Mysteries happened in September?
I've seen a lot of these episodes, and as I started this one I thought the same thing. September seems to brought up quite a bit in the series.
We should have programs, like that these days.
There are dogs trained to do this here in 2019.
Now days they just label the elder deaths as died from "COVID" and no one questions it.
Sad.
So elderly people stuffed into steam trunks by their female caretakers are indeed listed as CoVID '19 deaths. Ok, Cherry.
gas was 97 cents in bowling green
Lady has Diabetes. Bakes a massive batch of sugar cookies. How about focusing on her diet.
it's strange watching the segment about the Dog's knowing now that Dog's are trained to detect diabetic attacks before they happen as well as other health conditions.
Yeah.. She could have been hiking at 5am in the dark.
Damn Bonnies moms theories were all over the place and just completely untrue thank god no names were released
Bonnie was killed because her mom was working for the cops as a snitch in my opinion.
On what evidence do you base your well-considered opinion?
25:56 look at the dumps on that truck gotdamm
Haha! You like 'em wide
“Paper delivery type person”. That cop is a boob!!!!
That's exactly what I just typed! Iv'e never delivered papers but I'm feeling a little envious that they have a look!
@@barbarataylor7328 Um, he wasnt commenting on her looks, he said "paper delivery type person" as in her job - explaining why she also was in that area so early in the morning, as she was making her deliveries.
👍
It was incredible of Bonnie's mom to push for the investigation. Keeping up pressure and such. However, I also think that while she pushed an investigation, she also was a hindrance. This may be controversial but her various false leads and "sources" were nothing and wasted time. I also don't think it was ok to accuse that student simply because he was angry and missed school that day. It was also a violation of his privacy by the professor. If she were suspicious the notebook should have went to police, not Bonnie's mother
How do different colored tennis balls smell different? Different dyes?
I would assume so. Makes sense, doesn't it?
Mine are sweaty
That's how 🤣
Larry, Moe and Curley would make better detectives then police detectives.
Thank God Robert Stack was in good health for his age here, as he didn’t get thrown away like a useless piece of trash. It’s so sad what is happening these days.
Robert Stack was battling cancer in the 12th season.
Lmaoo they rehash that dog/animal segment at least once every few seasons, but nonetheless they're crazy stories lol.
They are among my favorites. Dogs are amazing animals.
That guy must have had a terrible lawyer. Twenty years???? He must be poor. People have gotten a lot lot lot less for doing a whole lot more. Riich people always walk. The poor always get slammed.
The best companiionship is a dog 😍🐾🐾
7:13 the actor looks like an older version of Anthony Michael Hall
I love the dog story ❤
God bless that boobie hound. 😢
Just so you know Harper's ferry is in West Virginia not Virginia!
Poor Diane Washer… the creek Washed her.
The real-life X-Files or is it?.
So Bonnie's on her way to catch the bus for school, found in a creek 10 miles away with evidence of sexual activity, but they thought it may have been consensual sex? Maybe an accidental fall while hiking?
What a sad case. Glad to see it was solved and guy is in prison.
8:07 giggity
Silence is not overrated.
If that's a comment about some of these comments here, I agree.
Wow nice show
How dehumanizing and horrible is to learn that people in modern-day society view elder persons as a bothersome burden to get rid of!!
Dogs are wonderful
Why was the mom out narking on drug dealers? Just don’t understand if it’s not her job why would she involve herself in that world unless she was in trouble for drugs.
