    Partial update on Colleen Wood
Unresolved. Detectives were able to identify and locate the two women who had used Colleen's credit cards. They told the detectives that the same man had taken them to different ATMs and given them Colleen's cards and PIN numbers. He paid them ten to twenty percent of the money and kept the rest for himself. The women identified the man as John Paul. Colleen's son Michael believes that he accessed the credit card information from her computer.
Detectives first received tips that John Paul was in Montego Bay, Jamaica; however, he vanished before they could question him. In 2004, after the Unsolved Mysteries segment re-aired, a viewer recognized him as someone living in Fiji; he had since re-named the boat the Diamond Girl. However, because Fiji does not have an extradition treaty with the United States, authorities could do nothing. Since then, John Paul has been spotted in ports throughout Asia and Europe.
An acquaintance of John's was on his boat in while in Fiji in 2004 and was suspicious of him and his connections to Colleen. She managed to smuggle a laptop from the boat and give it to one of the detectives. It was later confirmed that the computer belonged to Colleen. Information on the computer helped the detectives determine how John Paul made some of the transactions with Colleen's account.
The last report that detectives have about John Paul's whereabouts was from 2009, when he and the boat were in Thailand. He intended to open a dive shop off the coast of Thailand. In 2011, John Paul reportedly sold the Diamond Girl. He is still considered a person of interest in the case, but has never returned to the United States. Sadly, Colleen has never been located, although authorities are certain the she is deceased.

There was a story they did once about a woman who rented a house from some random guy. He became obsessed with her and would come into her house without warning. One scene, she was standing in her bathroom and looked into her mirror and he was standing behind her. I audibly gasped. That is one of my worst fears! I was just starting to think about moving away to attend college in another town. My grandma was watching with me and said, "That's why I want you to live in a safe apartment with other students. Someplace where you aren't alone." That story has stuck with me all these years.

Captured. After four years on the run, Gordon Weaver was arrested in a remote area near Florence, Oregon under the name of David Carson. A woman saw a mugshot of Weaver on the AMW website and called the police. In 2005, Weaver admitted to killing Jean, but claimed that it was an accident and that she was already dead when he set the fire. The medical examiner, however, testified that she died of smoke inhalation. Weaver was found guilty of second-degree murder and was sentenced to twenty-five years in prison.
In October 2006, Weaver's parents were arrested and charged in helping him to elude the authorities. In 2007, Weaver was ordered a new trial and in February of 2010 was once again convicted of her murder. This time, however, he was sentenced to just 18 3/4 years in prison. He was released on parole in November of 2016.

It's so scary to think of how many murderers and rapists there are out there that have "served their time." This is one of the biggest reasons people murder and rape. They get shown by the so called "justice system" that they will just get a slap on the hand. Even criminals that have been deemed to be highly likely to offend again get let go. It's sad when murderers and rapists get less time than someone who's in for possession.

Alfred Robinson was identified as his accomplice but was not given any prison time in exchange for his testimony in Starr's trial.

Results: Captured. In May 2004, after four years on the run, Gordon was arrested in a remote area near Florence, Oregon under the name of David Carson. A man recognized Weaver from the AMW website after being told by a friend that Weaver had been on the show. Weaver had been a friend of the man's family. In 2005, he admitted to killing Jean, but claimed that it was an accident and that she was already dead when he set the fire. The medical examiner, however, testified that she died of smoke inhalation. He was found guilty of second-degree murder and was sentenced to twenty-five years in prison.
In October 2006, Gordon's parents were arrested and charged in helping him to elude the authorities. In 2007, he appealed and was granted a new trial because of deficiencies in his first trial. In February 2010, he was once again convicted of her murder. This time, however, he was sentenced to just 18 3/4 years in prison. He was released on parole in November 2016. Thankfully all these years later he is clean and not crazy anymore. We aren’t together but he sees my teenage kids and is building a relationship with them. It’s still hard to see him bc after he got on drugs he started beating me. :( I hate seeing it end badly like it did for this girl but it makes me realize how lucky I am that I am breathing and was able to raise my kids. [22:15] How on earth can they find that much blood covering different parts of the vehicle's interior and not be able to determine who it belongs to? Clearly, that statement is disingenuous at best. We've had the technology to run incredibly accurate DNA tests for several years now (which includes the time-frame of this specific case) and with that amount of blood, there's no reason as to why they wouldn't have been able to perform one. Either someone's trying to save money, or someone's trying to cover something up. There's simply no other reason they wouldn't be able to identify a person with that much of their blood.
That being said, it looks like they eventually caught him. However, another aspect I don't understand is how he could be walking free already. The man looked to be far past 40 in his mugshot, yet somehow he was charged with murder, "served his time," and has since been released? How much time did they actually give this guy for murdering his innocent wife in cold blood, and then trying to run away and stage his death after his parents bailed him out? 10 years? Another prime example of why our justice system is considered to be such a f*cking joke.

You live in the United States. Different states have different technicalities and different laws. Learn how the law works in your country before blaming it. The law is just fine. It's people that are not always. You're also talking about a Blue State of Oregon too. If you are a Democrat you contribute to the broken law. Democrats don't care about people. Just votes. Compare crime, poverty and cost of living statistics with known Democrat states and look at their particular crime statistics labled by crime like places like Illinois, Michigan, New York, California, Colorado, Oregon and Washington compared that with known Republican states like Montana, Oklahoma, Texas, Arizona and Tennessee. A pattern will arise. I think both parties are crap but, the results speak for themselves.

uh, cause Gordon would need to be in the database for the unidentified blood to match him. A clever detective would have gone to nearby blood banks to ask if a man matching this description had been seen buying/obtaining blood. Just be happy these days the tracking from random gas station or other cameras would help tell the story and/or solve things faster.
Yeah, agreed with your second point. Strange to walk from prison for 'good behavior' or w/e after murder -- didn't think that applied for murder.

31:56 - Great to see the legendary Cyril Wecht making his return on UM. Very sad case, I don't know what happened to Natasha but I kinda lead towards the drug overdose theory. But very tough to say.

She didn't know he was an ex con, did she? I think when some of us fall in love we tend to see the good things and ignore the bad. You're right about selling her stuff, but she also should have had an itinerary and given it to her family and friends so they knew where she was supposed to be. If plans changed, she could let them know. I'm more suspicious... probably from watching these shows.

Harvard MBA, Race car pro, Wall Street wizard and Mutual Fund co owner huh? Who’d buy that story? Was he a diplomat too? Did he have a Purple Heart? Sounds just about as likely as the rest of that BS.

"The unfortunate part is we don't have the answers." - Good cop right there. Accepting there are unknowns and stating it factually and honestly without trying to look for evidence against one or more suspects. Like what you normally find watching Unsolved Mysteries.

Gordon waivers question did she tell others tends to lead to that blow to the Head being very much premeditated it was probably not rash decision from an argument. . . Also he should not have been given permission to leave town...
