People won’t appreciate how much hard work has gone into all that metal fabrication and the finishing process , really looks factory . The heave gauge box section was definitely the way to go and from a welder/fabricator you’ve done a lovely job 👏👏👏
Thanks Neal I did spend a while doing it, the hard part was cutting all the pieces sqaure with just a grinder, I managed to make the box square but it took longer. Really appreciate that mate 🙏👍
You cant beat a bit of custom fabrication. You would never have been able to buy something already made which would have been anywhere near as strong. Perfection at its finest 👌🏾
Loving the effort going into this build Nathan, I fitted Range Rover Evoque seats in mine and didn’t allow for the driver side offset, luckily I welded 5mm plate onto the swivel base that bolted directly to the seat base, I just worked out where the driver seat needed to be and welded new plates to the other swivel base. I then fitted the first swivel to the passenger base, don’t really notice that it’s different as there’s no central reference point in front on the dash and the gap is only 10mm out on the b pillar. Great effort building a bomb proof base for the kids but don’t forget to reinforce the floor underneath with extra steel to spread the weight, VW use mounting brackets underneath, the part number is 7H0802763A so that you get the idea of the shape of it. When you take the floor out you may find that the position that you need to drill is somewhere near the locations marked on the floor for the factory seat brackets
Hey bud I bet yours are nice 👍 I will take a look at the floor when I strip it out after Xmas I did use some thick plates under my nuts for extra strength but will defo look at it again. Thanks for the part number I’ll look now 👍👍
Bloody hell ……… Rola Cola!! Those were the days😆😆. Top notch as always dude, vans looking better and better by each vid. Nice to see/hear “skip banger” making a return appearance too 😂😂
That seatbelt upright and arm rest section looks sweet as! I would say carpet over it all but you've really pulled it off and it looks sweet painted satin black! Top job Nath!
Yep , like me you love Touran seating, like a sofa in a car.. That’s a fantastic result, well worth the effort that you put into it. Well done and bravo.
Nathan you got to be so proud of that bud . Them seats a a absolute smashers . When I come up and seen you last week I could see you had your work cut out . Thanks for making me feel so welcome to bud . Tailgate is underway now . Hope to pop up and see you again bud . Trob is I want some touran front seats now for my van . They are lush . My Mrs will band me from watching your channel soon 😂😂😂 keep looking forward bud , I’m out 🤙🏽
Hey Chris thank you mate I am really happy with them and kids like them so a job worth doing, oh mate anytime I had a nice time chatting with you, I sometimes get abit worried about meeting viewers as there’s some crazy folk out there but straight away I knew you was a sound guy 🙏. Glad the tailgate is underway 👍 and being reused. Haha oh man don’t tell the mrs you saw and idea in my videos 🙈. Your always welcome to pop in mate, even a bluewater caddy meet as that should shave an hour each way off your distance. Have a great weekend mate, ps I bought some of that insulation from B&Q 👍 I give you a shoutout in the next video.
Mint mate , love it, far better than factory👌👌👌 . By the way buy a tow eye ext peice as the std tow eye wont fit due to front sportline front face lift. .....ask me how i know lol 🙈🙈🙈
Hey Brian thank you mate 🙏 oh man really 🙈 I actually put the tow hook in the van yesterday and i actually thought I wonder if it will fit, well I know now thank you 😂👍👍
Absalute perfection mate! Very inpressed with the rear seat base design! I’ve fitted a rock n roll bed to a t5 and it’s not made of much atall!! 😂 the structure of ur design is extra safe 💪 the attention to detail on the t5 as a whole is second to none!!! Well done mate very impressed. 😎👍
Nice job that Nathan, what I've done with box section before is drill big enough hole to weld a piece of x sized tube through the box pending bolt size used, and you can bolt through the middle of that, without crushing your box section and it's strong 💪 👌👍
Hey Chris that is a very good idea 👍👍 I’ve seen so many box sections crushed buy having a bolt through them but that’s easy to do and will never crush thanks mate I still have room to do that 👍👍
@YTDTETV thanks Nathan 😊 we've used it on race cars we've built for years, I can warrant it's tried and tested 😀 👌 and will certainly with stand any knock, if the unfortunate occurs....
Oh wow Nathan you just go beyond expectations with your videos and the effort you put into that seat frame was epic you should patent that frame design and get them made you could make a good wedge but that all down to time which probably don't have , keep the videos coming .
Hey bud thank you 🙏 I did think that about the frame, it could be cut with a machine cutter in no time and welding would only take an hour. Appreciate that bud 👍👍
Looking good, Nath! Quick win for the floor, I've used the rubber interlocking matting from halfords, 2 packs for 20 quid was enough to do my custom. I've made mine a day van similar to yours, but I still use it for work. The mats are easy to replace and make it a bit nicer for the kids in the back.
saying it again, thanks for sharing, I'm way behind on my T5 build but every video is an inspiration for me to keep going, please share the front arm rest mods when you do them as the Touran seats are great.
Hey bud thank you glad the videos are useful 👍👍 I will definitely make a video on armrests and it will be soon my left arm definitely needs one while driving 👍
Looks factory mate, your videos are very honest, you don’t make it look easy you just show us how to do it properly, I’m glad the seats from Billy Caddy Enhancements did the job 👍
Great job you did there Nathan and thank you for the video. The Touran seats look great - definitely a wise move on your part to use them 👍. Have a great weekend mate.
Hey bud thank you 👍 I’ve fitted a few aftermarket seats and also genuine seats over the years I copied a few ideas but just beefed everything up for safety, someone has commented and said they ain’t safe 🙈🤷.
I love watching your videos mate - your talent to be able to just whip up a frame with seatbelt & armrest-y bit like this is just amazing, you should be really proud of yourself and your skills; I’ve no doubt your family are super super proud of you and of all you’ve achieved. I love the wee tips about using parts from other VAG motors too like the polo window mechanism: those wee tricks are worth their weight in gold!
Thank you I do appreciate the support and kind words, I see something I want to make and spend abit of time just thinking about it so I don’t wish I had done it a different way half way through, the mrs and the kids enjoy the caddy and the t5 so that makes me happy. Thanks again Lizzy 🙏
Hey bill thank you 👍 the kids enjoy the seats so extra effort was definitely worth it, I’ve looked in my rear view mirror and seen the kids using the arm wrest etc 🙏👍
I used strong neodym magnets, to find good places to drill. Place them on the underbody. Then you can see where you come out at the top. Made a lot of retrofit on Sprinters, most of the time i work alone.
Top job mate, I love your creativity and ability to adapt to suit your own style, loving the video and love watching your channel. It’s making me crave for a caddy or transporter more and more every video I watch, just can’t find any content like this for my MK2 Ford Connect van
Hey bud thank you 🙏🙏, my caddy is still my favourite and glad I bought one, the T5 is also good it’s just the caddys bigger brother. Your right there’s definitely not much for the Ford stuff 👍
Just wanted to say thank you for the drivers seat you gave me and keep the videos coming they are brilliant and addictive and very helpful what a bloke 👍
Hey bud no problem at all I wasn’t using it and happy for someone else to have it 👍 glad you enjoy the videos and really appreciate the comment thank you 🙏 👍
@@YTDTETV yeah definitely like the videos they are so helpful even the fuel gauge one as I also have the issue but mine seems to work ok if I keep it above half a tank then as soon as it goes under it starts going crazy but only when I'm stationary it sort of flickers and goes up and down any ideas what that could be 😂.
Your sick mate. Everything you do is sweet mate, watch caddy videos started doing bits to mine, watch all these now want a t5 😂 and start tinkering with 1 haha
Hey Nath, I was fancying doing the Caddy life bench seats in our Caddy. Wanted an easy clip in and out affair. I also liked that fact it keeps the full floor space. After watching your seat install in the Caddy I think the Touran seats are the way to go. You don’t actually lose that much floor space and seems like less hassle to do a DIY install. Also man logic, it’s an excuse for me to buy a MIG welder again 😂 Tidy install in the Transporter though. Look mint as always mate.
Hey bud thank you 🙏 I’ve used the touran seats in a couple of builds now and I really like them so versatile and comfy to. I enjoy making stuff and this one worked out as planned. Appreciate the comment mate 🙏👍👍
The kids will kick off as there’s no charging port in the back. The seats are looking awesome, I was thinking you would have put two front seats in the back. But yet again another great video
Hey Conrad you a so right and I did plan to mention that in the videos but it’s sometimes hard to remember everything on the fly while the camera is rolling, yes a charging point right in the back of the arm rest is on the list 👍👍
why do i have visions of your mrs being the designated driver with 1 of the kids in the front while you kick back in the rear with the other kid 😂😂😂 also,i seemed to find your humour on point in this video.well done with the custom build 👍
Hey miss g, haha I hadn’t thought of that but now you mention it that’s a great idea 😂👍, thank you for the feedback I do my best with being funny the mrs just says I’m funny looking. Thank you 🙏👍
Rola Cola, OMG that takes me back :D, it was disgusting, more like cough medicine :P. Mate, your skills are becoming more and more obvious, The seat base is a work of art, I have a diesel heater on my van. I also dropped the tank to fit the fuel line and drilled the extra hole. I have a Lavaner Pro 4kw, coupled with an Afterburner controller (Ray Jones in Australia makes them as a hobby) I will deffo bear the Touran front seats in mind should we ever decided to go the two seat option. Our double folds flat, but you can also get a bracket from Vankraft (or make one yourself) that gives the double seat a little bit of extra tilt back, not adjustable though. All in all, good work.
Hey bud haha the cola of choice back in the day 😂👍, diesel heater will be very soon 👍 I like the sound of the afterburner controller and more info on that? My mate had T5 seats that folded flat actually maybe a similar setup. Thanks for the comment mate 👍
that seat base turned out great some nice work there Nathan you should get an old headrest cover for your armrest so it matches the new seats . the van is looking fab 👌
Nice one Nathan , I've got a Chevy G30 ex ambulance , bought it in Holland , took it to my country holiday home in Romania , I took the front and back seats out of a Saab 9000/Fiat Croma and built a cubby behind the back seats for my spare wheel / jack / tools etc
You might want to move the seats back a tad and build a wee step/foot rest for when the front seats are swivelled so there’s a foot resting elevated floor which can also be used for storage or routing a diesel heater vent hose?
Cracking job mate it looks almost OEM. Transit and shitroen rear seat conversions in vws always look crap. I used 12mm tile backer boards wrapped in super stretch lining to insulate my t5. worked a treat. Ya van looks a million dollars well done
Wakadoo mate epic video, amazing craftsmanship there dude most definitely, it's looking stunning mate too right well bloody done top work top bloke nd thank u again for today mate really appreciate it mate legend
Hey Alan thank you sir 👍 so whenever I’m really busy or involved I take those little shots while doing then add in the explanations, really appreciate the feedback 🙏👍
That was a lot of effort! Did you look at the new Transit Tourneo rear seats and floor rails? Each seat has its own 3-point belt built in and legs that hook straight into floor rails. Not VAG but fairly easy rear seat conversion
Hey Jim star thank you mate 🙏 the boss was away on holiday and Owen did not make it in at all so I had the workshop to myself 😃, I hope your new job is going ok, I was listening to DNB late during the week and was going to send you a link but it was abit late and didn’t want to disturb you 👍👍
All coming together, now, looking sweet roll in the next upload I noticed you had a topdone in your hand. JS3000 where did you get it from i’m thinking of getting one 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Hey Sean thank you mate 🙏 yes I have been sent a handfull of bits to try from TOPDON themselves and they are all so good 👍 I also have the 600 series code reader which is brilliant. I didn’t have to pay for mine 😃 but the cheapest place I’ve seen them is on eBay 👍👍
People won’t appreciate how much hard work has gone into all that metal fabrication and the finishing process , really looks factory . The heave gauge box section was definitely the way to go and from a welder/fabricator you’ve done a lovely job 👏👏👏

Hey simon thank you mate really appreciate that 👍 I don’t have the budget like the bigger channels so I just do my best 👍
Brilliant video as always nathan you am a very gifted person am loving the transporter build now.keep them coming 👍
Thank you mick appreciate that mate 👍
Love this! I'd be tempted to use some of the material off the spare middle seat for the armrest ;)
Keep the vid's coming fella...oh yea!
Loved this episode! You're a very talented man and your kids are extremely lucky.
Well done to you sir! 👍🏻
Hey bud glad you enjoyed it and really appreciate the kind words 🙏 thank you 👍
Oh man the care building those back seats is great. Dad can take his family to see the lights, enjoy your trip pal.
Hey bud thank you 🙏 I looked on the rear view mirror and saw the kids using the armwrest and in that one moment the days of work paid off ❤️👍👍
Loving the vids mate! not to serious or perfect which is a breath of fresh air IMO 👍🏻 the pointing at wheel spin guy was absolute gold 😂

Hey Dan thank you mate really appreciate that, I like the satin black but your right carpet would look good to 👍👍
Absolutely Fab bit of Fabin going down there DT, Pukka Job is that, well thought through and just as well executed
Hey Karter thank you mate, it took a while but I enjoyed it and the kids like it so the effort has payed off 🙏👍👍

That’s a fantastic result, well worth the effort that you put into it. Well done and bravo.
Thank you mate really appreciate that and yes I love the touran seats so we’ll designed and cheap to buy 🙏👍
impressive craftsmanship sir! Simple but effective, Taking the extra time is worth it when it gives that oem appearance!

Hey bud that is a good idea actually and yes I have a few ideas for the diesel heater when it arrives thank you 👍
Cracking job mate it looks almost OEM. Transit and shitroen rear seat conversions in vws always look crap. I used 12mm tile backer boards wrapped in super stretch lining to insulate my t5. worked a treat. Ya van looks a million dollars well done
Hey bud thank you 👍👍 haha I call the shittroens to 😂, that’s a good idea I shall be carpeting soon.
London calling NO stress 🎅
Hey Ron yes next Saturday the kids are looking forward to it and I’m looking forward to the drive 👍
Wakadoo mate epic video, amazing craftsmanship there dude most definitely, it's looking stunning mate too right well bloody done top work top bloke nd thank u again for today mate really appreciate it mate legend
Hey Dean thank you mate and no problem hopefully the mrs car is happier 🙏👍
🎅🧑🎄😎👌.......You need to put some side impact on the rear beam .....just saying, Great work👌
Hey Scott thank you for the input sir I shall take a look when I do the boarding 👍👍
You say the rear seats l😊ok relatively factory? What are you on about buddy………..it looks better than factory! Totally brilliant love it
Hey Anthony really appreciate that mate thank you 🙏👍
Very nice job. Like the way you cut in the “how to” bits of video in the middle of the explanations
Hey B-RY I did have a look but wasn’t the cheapest, they do work well thow 👍
Can remember if they slide back and forward though. Probably not, maybe you can place them in a few different spots along the floor rails though
Very nice laa, 💪💪 hope everyone is well and I'm looking forward to the next instalment in the epic build 👍

Great work but why didn't you make a brace under van for the seat frame .
Hey bud thank you 👍 I did think about that for sure, maybe it’s something I can add.
Your doing well 👌👍🏻
Thank you 🙏👍
