How To Tie Dye

- What up!! So today I'm going to show you how to tie dye...
So I got this little ti dye kit... and I opened it like a monster!
But it came with bottles, the die, gloves, rubber bands, and this cover thing. First thing I did was lay the cover down.
So the white shirts I printed on them front and back.. and if you would like one, you can get one here:
First things just get it wet and ring it out so its damp.
To figure out what colors I wanted to use, I got a practice shirt and just mixed up the initial colors. I tested out the colors on the shirt. From there changed the colors until there were how I wanted them (You want them a little brighter, cause it will fade a bit)
For the blue.. I used this black dye that wasn't meant for tie dying.. so we will see what happens.
So for the first design I did a serial.. and just feathered it out till I got to how I wanted it. then I just put some rubber bands around it.
To get the spiral you are going to do little slices of colors and alternate the colors... then flip the shirt over and do the same color slices in the same places you did it on the front ( so it matches)
You then put it in a bag and let it sit. I let mine sit for 8 or 10 hours.
The black bled and made all the white spaces that turquoise color. But I liked it..
Next one
I dyed the whole shirt the peach color, Put it in the bag let it sit for eight hours, then rinsed it. Then I crumped up the shirt and splashed that black on there, put it in the bag, and let it sit for another 8 hours.
I loved how this one looked.. but because of that black.. it turned the pink purple.. still looked rad but.. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
next one.
I dyed the whole shirt blue, let it sit in the bag and rinsed it out.. I didn't like how dark it was so I just soaked the shirt in some bleach. once it got to the color I wanted I put it in hydrogen peroxide.
After washing the shirt. I then scrunched it up and added the rubber bands.. then dyed it with the blue green dye.
Romy also did one. she did a spiral thing where she made every other slice a rainbow and left slices in between white.. (she didn't like it really though haha)
If you wanted a white on white shirt.. you can get em here:

let it soak in soda ash or else it wont last when you machine wash it!! just a heads up
Yah mine faded lots... but I liked how it faded.. will it fade even more now?
Shmoxd it'll likely keep fading little by little until it reaches its "happy place" the dye may stay more vibrant longer the cooler the water you wash it with
Good to know... thanks:) 🙏🏻
Shmoxd yessir! Hope it helps
Susan F soda ash?
Idk why but the way you talk is so soothing omg
I love how he was so chill throughout the video like whenever something bad happened or it didn’t come out how he wanted he was just lie “Eh whatever”
Your commentary gives me life. It's so funny listening to your thought process.
The fact u use alt j music in the back of ur videos makes them even more perfect than they already are
🙌🏻🙌🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻haha thanks:):)
What’s the song tho

Ice bear wants you to stay alive.
I first read 'how to die' and was like yes a video for me but then i read the actually titel..
Oh ily... do you ever read the sub Reddit 2meirl4meirl haha?
Sadly i do and it ends with me crying.
lol you’re one of those people
How to tie die.
Step one, you get a strong tie and put it on.
Step two, you tie it to a bar high up
Step three, you stop reading my pathethic attempt at a joke, you take your tie off, you go outside and listen to 'Land Down Under' while you treat yourself to ice-cream and buy yourself a nice book, because you deserve it and the world is (partially) yours.

**SIMP ALERT
😎 cool. Ever mistake is a work of art. All the shirts look amazing by the way.
Shmoxd my bro! you need to try out the ice tie dyeing method.
you scrunch your shirt up and put it in a colander then put a shit ton of ice on top and sprankle dat powdered dye on top and as the ice melts it mixes with the dye which dyes your shirt with these crazy awesome rando patterns.
++++++ bump
Oh my😵😵😵 that's genius.. im going to have to try it out!!!
Did this ages ago to make my own tapestry. Looks soooo cool
the transition on 3:30 was so dope
Haha thanks! It was a total accident that I filmed that part.. I forgot to turn the camera off after I took that shirt out
:D Okayy, i love your videos so much btw. I found you a few days ago and i'm completely amazed by your stuff, you made it look so easy at super professional at the same time. Keep it up! Can't wait for your new videos!

even your mistakes are creative hahaha
I love so much how you always show your process. You show trial and error and your mistakes and I think that's the dopest mindset an artist can have. IM SUCH A FAN
I hear alt-j tf can your videos stop being so aesthetically pleasing and perfect smh
So I know that I'm a few years seeing this but I have to say that I really like how you shared your discovery. I need to overdye some safety colored shirts for my husband. He just started a new driver pick up and delivery job with a local non profit and is sometimes in warehouses that uses forklifts and other equipment so he needs to be visually seen without having to wear a safety vest and so far yours has been the best explanation. Thanks so much for sharing your experience. I'll be able to put your much appreciated information and knowledge to use.
😊💯❗
To make the color last and brighter, Use soda ash (solution you soak the shirts in for 20 mins). The color will last longer and not fade as much and will be bright! :D (but it's up to you if you want a pastel or lighter color... just don't use the soda ash... XD)
savannah 937 is there different things you can use instead of soda ash
Even your scrunched up t-shirt is aesthetically pleasing?? What can't you do boiii
Are you living the life? Having fun? Looks like you're having fun. That's good.
I'm not into tie dyeing, but custom colour a t-shirt is my jam.
The blue on blue looks really good too.
been wanting to make some tie dye recently this was very helpful!
This is the channel I come to to find true good content. Not even my own. (lol what is my life) 😂
Seriously tho, very fun intros and very fresh DIY video style (: xx
Your channel is great:):) thanks for the love
Shmoxd Thank you! (:
Your a major inspiration to my teenish mind.
Love the idea of printing on the shirts with white ink first!
i don't get it where is your million plus subscribers?
YOU MAKE ME FEEL SO FULL OF CREATIVITY AND I JUST FEEL BEYOND INSPIRED TO CREATE WHEN I SEE ANYTHING YOU DO WOW
THIS VIDEO HAS SUCH GREAT VIBES (also love Breezeblocks in the background)
You're seriously the KING of tie dye
The third model was the best honestly, can I get their contact info 😂😂😂
Bri G I know! The way they just stood there!! Talk about professional😂
Sorry guys... the third model signed to be my exclusive model.. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
THIS. THIS IS THE SONG THATS BEEN STUCK IN MY HEAD FOR A MONTH. thank you mr. shmoxd for including it i was starting to think i made it up
Nice shirts. Nice models. Nice dance moves. Sick video. ✨🤙🏼
came back to rewatch 🙌 your videos never get old and are great rewatching
Im in love with the blue tie 💥
🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻i think that ones the crowd favorite.. i like it lots too..
Shmoxd i'm totally agrre, you are so talent
This is so inspiring. So much cooler than regular tie dye that is played out.
The intro gets me every time
These turned out really cool! So glad I found your channel. I upcycle and tie dye vintage slip dresses.
That peach and black was so dope before it bled.
I love all the Alt-J remixes in your videos! I love love love Alt-J and it makes me very happy hearing someone so cool listening to them
Nice modelling dance moves 👍 great shirts!
Let's be honest.. modeling dance moves are probably my forte
violate !!!!!!!!
I love it how Alt-J just plays in the background. ❤️❤️❤️
Ayy, the dancing intro is back! 😂 The camp I've been working at does how dye every week and pretty hardcore. They use soda ash and buy the professional dyes on bulk. It's kinda intense. They train the counselors on how to do different for dye patterns: spiral, fireworks, bulls eye, hearts...
Hahahah yaaaas!:) i can't even imagine getting that dye in bulk.. so many shirts..
The guy hugging the pole is great he’s a natural. 😊
Omg I just watched Chezlins video and had to come here to give you some love. I love how your creativity is contagious 😊 you two are my favourite creators ✌
You're so rad! And Chezlin is so rad! The boths of you!!
I really liked the blue one. My family wants that color for our reunion this summer.👍
I think if you tried rinsing the shirt under the tap rather than in a bucket the black dye would be less likely to bleed but your shirts turned out super cool 👌
Yahhhh that defiantly made it bleed a ton haha smh.. I'll have to try again some time
i wasn't expecting the production value to be this high for a tie dye tutorial
I FUCKING LOVE YOUR MUSIC CHOICES MY GOD BRO THEY'RE GORGEOUS
🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻youre the best!!
I could watch you tie dye all day!
OOOFT ALT - J PLAYING IN THE BACKGROUND
Hahaha me casually rewatching this video and realising that it was made 5 years ago🙈🙈 crazy, time flies! You‘ve come such a long way since then
I love alt j ahh you always have their music and I love it
This is probably the coolest and most genuine diy channel I've ever seen 👍🏼
hey do you by any chance know how to make friendship bracelets? if so could you a video on that? because I've been wanting to make my own bracelets for a bit and your tutorials are always easy to follow and always find a way to make things look awesome.
Thankss:):) anddd I think I've made them once or twice before... It could be a fun video to make..
yes plz make one it would be cool
@@Shmoxd can I get that link for your tees
We did tie dye in Grade 5 or 6 for art class. Just the dye, water, rubber band and hanger. I'm 22 and I still have it. The color is fading but well it's been 12 or 13 years. It's fun class that i still remember how to do it.
But this vid give me new ideas.
The aLT J IN THE BACK!!! I'm QuaKinG
Thanks for the vid! I was totally just about to use some Rit Black Dye to Tie Dye a shirt that I Tie Dyed and wanted a little more on it. Good thing I saw this first! Exactly the information I was looking for.
Might be an obvious question but where do you get your white decals? Can you get special paper and make them yourself or do you have to send away for them?
I only thumbs up'ed for the guy holding the poll. True model's vision.
Do you know where the wild things go ?
Adriana Gonzalez I think they go along to take your honey....
they go along and take your honey
Break down now weep build up breakfast now let's eat my love, my love.. love.. LOVEEE
Maggie Carolin muscle to muscle and toe to toe the fear has gripped me but here I go my heart sinks as I jump up your hand grips hand as my eyes shut and ahh ahh ahh ah ah ahhh ahh ahh ahh ah ah
Vane X AHHH the "ahh" 's 💀💀 // She may contain the urge to runaway but hold her down with soggy clothes and BREEZEBLOCKS
I just like it before watching it because I already know it's gonna be good.
Hahaha 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🤙🏻🤙🏻
Noice vid (love a bit of alt j)
bang and the dirt is gone Love every bit
I have never commented on a video but i had to say i am in love with this channel and hopefully this make a huge turn to a bigger success 🖤
It's like watching a show with that intro
Everything about this video is extremely creative. I love your intro I love everything about it. Inspired me to continue to be me. Unique. Keep up the work!
I already knew how to do tie dye, but still came to watch cuz your content is dope as fuck. I like your creativity dude, hope your channel grows more so you can keep at this, best of wishes man. ✌🏽✌🏽
Love Breezeblocks playing in the back of your videos
Make us a playlist dude!
These turned out WAY better than I had expected 👏🏻
i'm a summer camp veteran... automatic tie dye pro. still loved the vid tho!
Haha nice! Yah I'm for sure learned slot from the mistakes I made
do all colors fade? are do some last ?
Garret is a whole mood when he hugged that pole
Nice background music
Now I feel like I need a peachy tie die tee just like the one you made. The peachy one was SO good! You should've made another one!
If you rinse it in the sink with the water running, it bleeds into the other colors less!
Your hand scissors are my new favorite thing.
How do you print on the shirt?
I’m trying to Doo this for a Christmas gift🙃
Your intro just earn you a subscriber not only that I watched all your other videos you are hilarious keep being you.
Yo dude, just found your channel today and subscribed, and would like to know what happens if i used bleach to "tie die or splatter effect" a black fabric, then i dyed the whole thing another colour(like green, etc)
How would the bleached areas look like??
Was wondering maybe if u could try that would be cool!
Oooo that would be raddd! The bleached colors would probably turn either a gray or yellow is color then the dye would turn it green.. I might have to play around with some bleach
Shmoxd thanks for the reply! And hell yeah that sounds awesome man, cant wait to see or hear from u about the results haha!
I used to do bleach painting on black shirts. It's kind of neat. You can water down the bleach in different levels of water and paint on the black shirt just like paint. Just make sure to use some good gloves and a respirator.
Google "bleach painting" and check out all the cool stuff people make.
Rotsuoy awesome!! Ive been interested in the concept but i never knew it was a thing! Thanks! Imma check it out!
FINALLY a good diy channel
Protip: Instead of buying dye you can dilute acrylic paint in a bottle of water and poke a hole in the lid.
😵😵😵that's genius.. i might just have to try that out some time
Uggghhh I freaking love you're videos. I get so excited when you upload. You're the best dude! Keep it up.
tHE INTRO LOOKS DIFFERENT is it just me or is there usual the ocean then the skull
Sophie Wysocki I thought it looked different also but I'm sure why it looked different
Rosita Montalvo i feel there's supposed to be an black outline ocean then it goes over the skull
Hmmmm it will forever be a mystery;)
Shmoxd nOOOO
Cool stuff man, been watching your stuff and it inspired me to get back into screen printing. For the white paint is it a normal textile screen printing ink or is it rubber ink? How come the dye does not stick to the white printed area?
Breezeblocks by Alt J remix by Kadugodi and Sebastian Carter
You could make the BEST merch ever.
5:26 me trying to ask my friends to model for me
That sign though 👌🏻👌🏻
Ur may favorite youtuber when it come to diy stuff..
I like ur content...
damn bro! you really are the goat. you've been posting all the necessary tutorials for any streetwear brand
Did he just stick his hand in bleach...🤔
Ooooo probably... :S
that blue shirt is just yum
crunchled is probably my new favorite word
Love the voice over it’s so real and great
I will forever love your use of alt-j
I seriously, absolutely live your intro!!!
Hahah thanks:):) i want to make more things like it... but in a nooovice and it takes me forever to animate stuff
Never been to your channel before but within the first five seconds of this video I knew that you're awesome and subscribed immediately :)
It's so cute when you say beautiful
this channel is so cool lol the DIYs actually turn out how they're supposed to be
These look awesome. Especially the purple one
