    You need to use a peroxide/H20 mix to get that bleach to stop working or your shirt can get holes in it.

    Thanks for the video, it's really informative and helpful!
    Quick question, do you think pre-soaking the shirt in soda wash before bleaching it could be helpful as opposed to sprinkling it on after rinsing out the bleach? Or would it be basically the same result?

    • @Levi-Salmon
      @Levi-Salmon  8 месяцев назад

      I added it after rinsing because I did not want the bleach to negate the effects of the soda ash. Worth a shot but my guess would be the results are not as saturated. I tried washing the shirt after bleach then soaking in soda ash and dyeing but re-spiraling the shirt meant the dye didn't saturate the bleached parts as well.

    I've been playing around with reverse tie-dying and having mixed feelings with the outcomes. So I sought out videos on RUclips to refine my techniques and tips from other tie-dye enthusiasts. Your video is by far the most helpful I've watched so far! • @Dispositionist

    you can do a full soak in the soda ash, you just need to neutralize with peroxide between steps, this will also save you the time of rinising the bleach out. I also do a stronger ratio of soda ash to water, because the shirts already wet from the neutralizing solution, which would dilute the soda solution.

      Hey Kayla! Bathing suits will probably be a synthetic and not 100% cotton so it's important to use a dye for synthetics like DyeMore from Rit. The only difference you will see is that the royal blue is still able to absorb dye so it's more difficult to predict what the final color will be. Definitely go for it, might be really cool.

    What problems did you have when soaking the shirt in soda ash?

    • @Levi-Salmon
      @Levi-Salmon  3 года назад

      When I pulled it out of the soda ash solution the bleached parts of the shirt were darker than when I put it in there. Seems like some of the black from the shirt got in the liquid and made everything darker. The final result was a much duller dye.

      Only leave the bleach on for 10-15 minutes and make sure you rinse it thoroughly

    What temperature did you use for the final wash? It’s my first time doing a reverse dye and I don’t want to mess it up lol

    Would these tips work the same on thicker materials like hoodies?

      Overall, yes. Although hoodies act up sometimes in unpredictable ways so you may have to experiment with different brands
