Sorry to hear about the loss of the customer. Seeing that more and more with the smaller grain facillities switching to trucks. The seasonal grain car shortage doesn't help. 12 years ago I started wearing hats full time after getting several patches of skin cancer and I haven't had any since. Enjoyed the video much, thanks JT!
I agree with you and, I have also read that when a outfit like Genessee & Wyoming take over, they will emeditately raise the rates to where the small custom can not afford the raise in movements of their products. So the competition wins. Just another greedy outfit!!!!!
Thanks for watching! I have a spot on my head that came back and I have to do something about it. I never wore hats in my life except for when I played softball but now I will
We lost a great customer on the Peavine Line about 15 years or so ago. Kiblers lumber company used to ship lumber in by flat car and boxcar. The frog on the switch broke and the track needed work but nobody wanted to spend the needed money so they went to trucks. I remember NS setting cars off there and there was almost always at least one boxcar on that siding. They took the switch out though
@@williamwargo3066 We had WATCO take over from CN here in Rhinelander and we're getting better service, don't know about the price. WATCO seems to genuinely want to grow rail service here.
My Dad worked for C&O, started in Fulton Shops in Richmond, spent the rest of his career in Huntington, retired in 1986. He was one of the organizers of the American Freedom Train, the Reagan Train, the Chessie Steam Special, and the New River Trains. As a child, in the early 60’s, I got to ride C&O train #2 the George Washington, powered by beautiful E8’s from Huntington to Richmond a number of times. Your videos of CSX operations in Thurmond and Prince, WV reminded me of that. So I found all his boxes of papers, etc, and took them to the Chessie Museum in Clifton Forge and donated them last month.
Good one JT. I love the locals. Sorry the grain elevator is no longer a customer. Your hat is a good idea on sunny days. My husband had to have skin grafted onto his face after skin cancer surgery. It worked out in the end, but was a long time healing. Stay safe and take care. ❤

Great short line action as always Jawtooth! So cool to see the old telegraph poles with insulators left and the old signal's, such a blast from the past! The CE railroad is like a portal back in time!👍
Good to see 2414 having a nice day out! It's been a long time member of CCET loco fleet. Probably the best buy they made in their early days and a very useful little machine! It would look really great if it was painted in the black and red livery they use now. Also good to see I & O using their newly acquired former BNSF locos on a 70 odd car freight haul. I hope that the present desire to combat pollution and climate change will bring about more rail traffic as it is so much more efficient than road haulage over the longer distances and would benefit the country by making better use of the existing rail facilities. Thanks for taking the time to give us a look at the smaller railroads.
Norfolk & Western #611 took the line heading towards Chillicothe and then took the Peavine towards Cincinnati passing through Williamsburg many years ago. 1994 would be 611's last trip on the Peavine and the very last steam train to operate on that line.
I rode the line to and from Chillicothe on the Chessie Steam Special. That was a different locomotive though. I also rode the 611 on the Peavine from Cincinnati to Portsmouth Ohio and back twice. I remember that last year of the 611 running in 1994 because that was when I bought by farm. I rode 611 to Muncie Indiana and back and also a couple of times to Danville, Ky and back. I'm really glad they are using 611 again
I like your new hat, very appropriate for the strong sun JT, better ptotection. Love to see a telegraph pole still with the glass insulators that was cool! Great trains, great locations, great filming JT. ❤😊👍
Was the Cincinnati and eastern running on the same track as the I and O was because Cincinnati and Eastern run real slow but I and O they rolled through there, but anyway, another great video JT, and as always you stay safe out there and watch your back and another thing you reckon why they quit loading grain cars at that silo
No. CCET runs east/southeast from Cincinnati to Peebles, about 60 miles. IORY has about 500 miles of track in several disconnected segments, but their main run is northeast from Cincinnati to Columbus, and a run north just into Michigan. Their name doesn't really make sense -- the great majority of their track is in Ohio, and they have about as much in Michigan as in Indiana.
At least you still have some grain mills left. Here in Oregon most of the flour/ grain mills I used to pickup samples for as a courier are long gone. Almost all the mills that used rail such as Continental, Centennial, United Grain are now no longer operating & demolished / vacant/ abandoned along with many timber mills here in Oregon too. I used to pickup the grain samples in Portland for delivery to the USDA for testing of protein content. Rail is the best most efficient way to haul bulk cargo like grains / flour. Huh. So I heard the name "Cozaddale" and wondered if it was related to the town of Cozad, just off I-80 in Nebraska. And it is! Wikipedia: "Cozad was founded in 1873 by John J. Cozad, murderer, gambler, Ohio native, and father of painter Robert Henri. [...] Cozad also founded Cozaddale, Ohio, a small, unincorporated village 25 miles northeast of Cincinnati." How's _that_ for a random fact that three people on the planet will care about?
I believe that was the last customer west of Circleville on the old Penn Central (PRR) line. The PC and B&O Midland ran parallel to each other from Washington Court House to Wilmington. They crossed at Sabina which is the switch seen in your video. The PRR used trackage rights on the B&O from the early 1960's until abandoned in 1976.

@@train1962 I filmed the new switch that is right by the road but I forgot to mention the clips. That little yard is now usable although the sidings are very short
Like those short lined!!! Noticed an old C&NW grain hopper on the C&E train. Too bad about the grain elevator discontinuing rail service. Looks like they switched to trucks. Hope it wasn't because of poor rail service that they stopped.😮 Always live action! 👍😎🇺🇲
That's the standard paint scheme of all Genesee and Wyoming companies -- now including Freightliner in the UK. You'll notice there's an I&O badge in the middle of the long hood -- that part varies between the different G&W railroads.
I used to live in Sabina when I was a little kid for a few years. Like 4-6 years old. I would watch trains from my house window all the time just a couple roads over from where you shot the video. I remember seeing CSX a lot of times.
First, this is definitely one of your better videos. Second, I agree that it's sad to see railroads lose business. Here in New York (city), efforts have been made to bring cargo railroading back, but it still accounts for a tiny percentage of moving freight in and out of the area.
Hey jaw tooth cool trains. Glad to see the C&E RR is still doing great. Sad to hear railroads sometimes lose customers. I'd rather have rail service if I owned a business by tracks. Cool hat. Just gotta wear bug spray keep mosquitoes away. Have a great railroad day. 🚂🙋♀️
Awe the switcher gp combo ❤️ 😍 I was planning on a switcher s-11 with a f-3 matching Boston and main brown scheem. On a nyc sourond. On a 2'x6' layout. Including a STREET RUNNING TRAIN 😊 Actually a sidding spur up the middle of a residential street on way to the factory
That grain elevator in Sabina sits along the ex abandoned Pennsylvania Railroad. Notice how the telegraph poles are especially high there. Thats where the PRR crossed the B&O. that bike trail is on the PRR right of way
Yes, grain trade is huge thing if you grain in bin and transportation start mess around grain clients will use trucks or other railroad yup this happen here western canada sad close shop but now time cost money yes.thanks video again😊
I&O has the same parent company as the 2 railroads here in Norwich, CT. The P&W and the NEC are also Genessee & Wyoming companies, I'd recognize those pumpkin Geeps anywhere!
Certainly an interesting locomotive consists and quite the variety of freight cars on CCET. One of those really nice elongated ""S" curves and then the train just goes around the corner and Into the Woods. Too bad about that grain elevator quitting rail service perhaps within a year people will notice the poor condition of the roads being pounded by all the trucks instead. Nice full size Freight on IORY with 3 units no less and you got the usual 40 mis matched gondola hello like you usually do in Cincinnati. Always interesting to see how the Regionals are doing
Those small rural elevators receive grain by truck from the local farms and ship it out by rail. So their truck traffic will basically double. OK, that's a lot of extra trucks, but they had a lot of trucks coming in already.
. 5:30 Any time a *"Train Channel"* show where rails are freshly blocked off and no longer in use. Can break your heart 💔 if you care to give it some thought. 😟 ( Even looking at abandoned railroad tracks that have not been used in decades, and now is covered in foliage, can get you thinking about how things once was at this *"Place"* 😢 )
I like seeing tracks come back to life but that is rare to see. There are a few railroad lines that are abandoned that I used to watch trains on. I want to film them before they are gone. One is the TTI line out of Paris, Ky. I want to film that line. Part of it is used for car storage

Like those short lined!!! Noticed an old C&NW grain hopper on the C&E train. Too bad about the grain elevator discontinuing rail service. Looks like they switched to trucks. Hope it wasn't because of poor rail service that they stopped.😮
Always live action! 👍😎🇺🇲
Nice Video
2:10 Hey look, 2414 is back in action, Woooooo!
That was awesome seeing 2414 on the main line with a heavy train. Usually it is used for unloading rock trains or working Huhtamaki
Nice hat!
Thanks!
I like your new hat
And Vicksburg, Michigan, they have a grain elevator for the railroad and it's Canadian national
Awesome and thanks for watching!
Brian you never disappoint great video 😊
I appreciate that!
Good morning Jaw Tooth.
Good morning William and how are you?
Really liking IORY 4079 paint job...great color scheme.
Makes the other IORY C40-8W's look dull and drab.
Not bad for a 30 year old!
That's the standard paint scheme of all Genesee and Wyoming companies -- now including Freightliner in the UK. You'll notice there's an I&O badge in the middle of the long hood -- that part varies between the different G&W railroads.
An impressivily long train on the Indiana & Ohio railroad.
Thanks for watching my videos!
Happy Railroading Jaw Tooth thank you!
Same to you! Thanks for watching my videos!
I used to live in Sabina when I was a little kid for a few years. Like 4-6 years old. I would watch trains from my house window all the time just a couple roads over from where you shot the video. I remember seeing CSX a lot of times.
Thanks for watching my video!
You look like a Australian Swammie JT,,,"on the hunt" fer trains,,,keep up the good work Sir,,,$ thank you ❤😂
First, this is definitely one of your better videos. Second, I agree that it's sad to see railroads lose business. Here in New York (city), efforts have been made to bring cargo railroading back, but it still accounts for a tiny percentage of moving freight in and out of the area.
Thank you very much! I will film more of this line. There are a few spots I want to visit
These towns remind me of my dad's home town. Chana Illinois pop 300. The largest structures in town are the grain elevators 😊
Nice video! I sure do miss the old days when the IORY had ex-SP Tunnel Motors.
Same here! I have videos of them in use. My best one is an SP tunnel motor in the snow in Washington Courthouse Ohio
Awe the switcher gp combo ❤️ 😍 I was planning on a switcher s-11 with a f-3 matching Boston and main brown scheem. On a nyc sourond. On a 2'x6' layout. Including a STREET RUNNING TRAIN 😊
Actually a sidding spur up the middle of a residential street on way to the factory
That grain elevator in Sabina sits along the ex abandoned Pennsylvania Railroad. Notice how the telegraph poles are especially high there. Thats where the PRR crossed the B&O. that bike trail is on the PRR right of way
Awesome live action
Theres a fairly new factory near me that had a siding installed. They use it a total of 2 times and now its sitting grown up with small trees.
Yes, grain trade is huge thing if you grain in bin and transportation start mess around grain clients will use trucks or other railroad yup this happen here western canada sad close shop but now time cost money yes.thanks video again😊
that engineer loves that horn dont he hes like one of the music city star engineers he pulls that horn a lot
A good mixed freight on the I and O! It's not a bad length for a small rail line.
I&O has the same parent company as the 2 railroads here in Norwich, CT. The P&W and the NEC are also Genessee & Wyoming companies, I'd recognize those pumpkin Geeps anywhere!
Awesome!
Thanks!
JT the signals are covered on the CCET do they still work?
No, they turned them off years ago
Looks awesome! I just saw a dash 9 not too long ago!
( Even looking at abandoned railroad tracks that have not been used in decades, and now is covered in foliage, can get you thinking about how things once was at this *"Place"* 😢 )
I want to see the *"Rail Road System grow"* .
I don't wanna see The RR system shrink ❕️
I like seeing tracks come back to life but that is rare to see. There are a few railroad lines that are abandoned that I used to watch trains on. I want to film them before they are gone. One is the TTI line out of Paris, Ky. I want to film that line. Part of it is used for car storage
@@JawTooth Looking forward to that video. 👍
Do you ever go up to the diamond at Findlay? Seen it on the map. Not sure which RRs go thru there.
Great video JT. Shame they pulled out those rails at that grain silo. Like IORY loco
Yes it was a shame that they lost that long time customer. I don't know what happened
