I’ll tell you what JT I don’t even see how a train stays on that track because every time you shoot a video of the track in the ties it looks like all the ties are rotten and up there where they were changing those ties it looked like they was changing every 10th tie to me, but anyway that railroad needs to do some serious work on that track. If I was that engineer I’d be scared even run down that thing but as always, my friend another awesome video and you stay safe out there and watch your back and we’ll see you on the next one.

So pretty & very old style railroad with the old signals & telegraph poles with the glass insulators. The derailment is next to one of my favourite crossings too Tranquility Pike, what a name! Every railway has derailment issues, it will never end until railways are gone. Just like highways and car accidents. When I was at IC we derailed every 2 or 3 days, when I was at the RailNet about daily....it's not just track, we are importing Chinese steel. Anything built by national railcar from 2001 and above we inspected very hard.

The track structure and environment have a great effect on the "life of the tie" often more than loading. Wet/dry cycles, heat and cold, infestation, and track integrity ( maintenance or lack thereof) are as much or more responsible for expected life of tie service.

Pretty darn good JT!! I enjoy your narrative on the derailments and history of places. You make it come alive and mean something. Explaining the rolled rail helped me understand what I was seeing there. That will all have to be replaced, right?? When you clicked on to 4K that picture was really sharp. BUTT, I could FEEL the memory being eaten up at that time. I have bigger and bigger chips for my cameras due to greater requirements. I hold back the resolution to save space. When I first saw your horse, there was only one end visible outside the tree. I thought there was a politician there. Great video JT. Good video. Have some railway telegraph insulators of different origins, materials and times. I got them from rotten, fallen poles like those.😁👍

Looks like a track issue. Issues are all too common on commercial rails which is why the MoW crews are busy all the time. A small railroad like the CCET probably doesn't have the budget to have crews maintain the track to 100%. That is a challenging situation and I wish CCET the best. They are hard working folks :)

"Good Lord"...B36-7 5857 (an ex-L&N unit??) has re-defined the beauty of this (already-cool) shortline. That horn sequence starting @1:50 was fabulous...for "my money", leave this classic GE in its "survivor" faded L&N blue...a REAL heritage unit!! @8:00 (and beyond), that guttural sound of pure-chugging FDL power (with the fading horn) says it all...💓👍👍

@@JawTooth One thing I forgot...when you mentioned (getting some food at) Frisch's, I just-about "collapsed"!!! When I lived in Athens as an OU student, we went to the local Frisch's all the time!! Thanks for the memory, JT...that was cool👌👌

That used to be one thriving subdivision when NS was using it because I’ve got videos of it when NS was running on the Pevie line and they had a lot of trains that went through there
