+Anwesha Bhattacharya, For some reason I cannot answer your posts directly. There is much more to a chart than combustion. Academics are influenced by 4th and 9th, accolades by the 11th. Mercury in the 10th in it's own sign is very powerful itself. We'd have to assess many different variables to see why this is the case, but certainly combustion plays a role in many things, but it is only one factor of many.
what is the effect of a planet retrograde and combust at the same time?

would love an updated video on this subject with your experience with clients and these combustions. i got jupiter, mars, moon combust in the 11th house virgo (leo 10th house sidereal lahiri).
Also my mars is 0.5° combust, have you noticed any effects of degree cazimis? This planet is my ascendant lord. Much love.
Ryan, I couldn't find you talk about retrograde planets in their own sign or exalted. How would it effect retrograde planets such as Jupiter or Saturn? I also didn't find it in your book.(volume 1). I have read somewhere that retrograde cancels debilitation, is that true in your experience?

Mercury has to be closer to the Sun to be combust. That's very far away for a planet like Mercury.

In another video you spoke of Jupiter conjunct the Sun being a favorable aspect... is this simply a contradiction in a person's reality, a both/and situation or am I missing something? I am transitioning from Western to Vedic so I am inclined to think I am missing something...

Hi Ryan, what happens when a planet is both retrograde and combust? This is of course most pronounced in the case of Venus? Are the effects same as just retrograde or just combustion?

Chapter 7, shloka 28,29.
अथाऽन्यदपि वक्ष्येऽहं मैत्रेय त्वं विधारय। खेताः पूर्णफलं दद्युः सूर्यात् सप्तमके स्थिताः॥ २८॥ फलाभावं विजानीयात् समे सूर्यनभश्चरे। मध्येऽनुपातात् सर्वत्र ह्युदयास्तविंशोपकाः॥ २९॥
It doesn't say about any particular degree of any planet. It does not say different degree for different planets.
I request you to provide the source from where you found different degrees of combustion for different planets.

What about Cazimi planets? Do you say planets are Cazimi when they are 1 degree conjunct or less or do you use the more strict requirement of 17 minutes conjunct or less?

hi Ryan, I have capicorn asc and I have combust jupiter in 11 house of scorpio. The degree between the sun and Jupiter is very close, less than 1 degree different so, my case seem to be severe isn't it?

Mars in my chart rules 2nd and 9th, placed in 11th house in Capricorn combust by Sun there. Its within 4 degrees of Sun, so severely combust, but in Capricorn, Mars is exalted.... does this ease off the combustion somewhat? thanks :)
how does declination of a planet relate to combustion? Is a planet that is parallel better or worse off when it is tightly conjunct (combust) the sun? Better or worse when contraparallel and combust?
HI there what about a exact combust, i.e natal sun at 23:29 virgo, with Uranus 23:26 virgo? Would that be considered a positive influence of Uranus?
Interesting video. My 1st lord is combust, but it is in its own sign. I have Ascendant 13 Cancer, Moon 15 Cancer, Sun 21 Cancer. Does that seem bad to you?

Is combustion possible from one rasi to another. For example. Sun in 28 degrees Scorpio and Jupiter in 2 degrees Sagittarius?

I have read in a few books that exalted planets become debilitated or act as such when the planet is retrograde. Is there any truth to that? Thank you.
A debilitated planet has low uucha bala. Yet, if it's retrograde it can have a high chesta bala. We take the average of these two balas to see a planets power. So a high chesta bala can cancel low uucha bala in the sense that instead of having 0 out 60 virupas of power it can have 30, which is average for a planet.

In my natal chart, I have Venus (not retrograde) in conjunction with the Sun in Sagittarius at 8 degrees between them (Venus 20, Sun 28 degrees), however, the houses that rule Venus are those that have helped me more materially and spiritually in life, my mother and my friends. House 4 and 11, with whom I have excellent relations. I have Venus in Libra and in house 9 in Navamsa maybe this helps? or maybe Venus is not the same at 8 degrees from the Sun as at less than 5 degrees?. The depositor of the conjunction Sol Venus is Jupiter in Cancer retrograde in the Ascendant.
Hi Ryan, I'm still a bit confused as to the extent of the effect of a combustion. For example, I have an exalted Saturn but is combust and a debilitated Moon that is also combust. Does the combustion make much difference to the effects of Saturn? Does this mean that the Moon will provide worse effects compared to if it was just debilitated?
***** How can your Moon be DB and Saturn Exalted? They would have to be in two different signs, not the same one. Combustion can make it harder to manifest the house qualities of the planet that is combust. Maybe there are some Lajjitaadi avashtas helping out though?
Ryan Kurczak Sorry I missed out some info there it's a DB Moon in Scorpio (9th house) and Exalted Saturn in Libra (8th) and both are combust. I need to master those Lajjitaadi Avashtas as I still dont know them by heart!
Hi Ryan, if planets are very closer to the Sun but in different sign, do they get combusted e.g Sun at 29 deg. Of one sign and mercury and Venus at 1-2 deg. Next sign. Please response, thx
I would still consider that. Although, as mentioned, combustion would not be an overriding factor, just one of many factors I'd use to look at the overall confluence.
Hi Ryan, question about combustion - if moon is less than 12 degrees from Sun that is let say 8 degrees, it is not combust?
The effects can still be felt with that.
I have Jupiter retrograde in my birth chart and it seems like when Jupiter goes retro, it's a good time for me. I almost look forward to it. I'm only beginning to study vedic to understand why.

The remedy depends on the planet and the situation of the chart. Charts can indicate which remedy works best. I personally do have gemstones and rudraksha, because I respond to them well. I typically only advise gemstones unless someone is hounding me to tell them, or their chart naturally indicates it will be of benefit for them. Past videos have covered this about remedies. See those.

I am Virgo ascendant , my lagna lord mercury is positioned in 10 th house in gemini along with sun and jupiter. My mercury is combust but i had a wonderful mercury mahadasha.Excelled academically , won accolades in school in academics , elocution and music. that was actually the best time of my life till now. I am confused as how combust mercury rendered such good results. My saturn is posited in 4th house is retrogradeand is aspecting the 10 th house.

I no that I only have 1 dignity in my western birth chart: Saturn in Capricorn in 9H. In vedic I no that its either in house b4 9H or after in 10H. The rest of my planets r in detrimental & falls
There’s a positive aspect of combustion that wasn’t mentioned, right? The Sun represents authority, and if it’s close to, let’s say Venus, it will make you an authority on aesthetics, right? My sun is combusting my Venus, mercury and moon, and I’m pretty bossy and snobby about my DJ playlist (Venus), people’s interior decorating skills (Venus), what constitutes good quality comedy or a well-written document (mercury), people's intelligence levels (mercury), and what role emotion should play in a situation (Moon). Being a snob or being bossy can come with its own cost in terms of relationships, but depending on how you come across, you could just be respected or trusted more on those topics. If you can temper your delivery of your strong opinions, people will actually listen to you and respect you.

Mohit Arora Being in its own home is very helpful. Combustion is important, but its only one part of the whole we need to assess. But yes, in its own sign house.

You mention a range of degrees within which, say, Jupiter is combust. say beginning at 8 deg (from the Sun) then Jupiter is Combust. How about in the case that Jupiter and Sun are literally on top of each other? say, both of them are at 28 deg in Scorpio (12th house)

We live in a geocentric universe not heliocentric. All the astrologers need to study the flat earth model and the deception that is heliocentrism. Retrograde means the celestial body has stopped while the rest of the celestial bodies continue. This gives the appearance of backward moving motion. The earth is not spinning/tilted/traveling etc. Earth is fixed/stationary while the celestial bodies circle above. What you call gravity is merely the effects of density and buoyancy with considerations to other forces acting, such as the resistant force etc.. The heliocentric model is a collection of theories that was pushed on us since elementary school as fact.
