You know your old when these cars were everywhere, and now it's in a museum 😂
You and me both Christian. Thanks for watching.
46 years just flew by
Yeah, in '76 I bought the same car, but mint green, white, white... the new Pontiac '301'/302" V8 that got great MPG for 1970's... 16 city / 23 hiway... poverty caps, then turbine fin wheels added...
@@buzzwaldron6195 nice colors. Thanks for watching Buzz.
Spared no expense, and it's all 100% correct. Very well done as always, Mike! It's a brand new car! And the fact that it's autographed and with paperwork and tags, the value goes up. 43k that's nothing! I never get sick of this car..........
Thanks Fabiolas. Thanks for watching.
One of the nicest 1977 Grand Prix that I have ever seen. Beautiful!

I always liked the bucket seat console set up but this one is exceptional! Beautiful car and great video.

Wow the battery is So cool!! Love the brochure. I forgot about the litter bin. My car was never that nice. So cool that Jim Wangers signed it. Especially now that he has passed.

Beautiful car and love the color. Looks like it just came from the factory!
Thanks for watching Jake.
Awesome Grand Prix! The first car I bought was a 75 Grand Prix after high school graduation. Considering looking for another . 🤞
Yep they are awesome cars Steve. Values are starting to go up so jump in soon. Good luck and thanks for watching.
Impeccable restoration!!! Wow, in 35+ years of restorations this might be the finest restoration, at least on a GM mid 70's model. Amazing car! I've owned 3 77's One when brand new another when it was 2 years old and another when it was 27 years old. ALL were just beautiful cars to drive and enjoy.
Yep they are great driving cars for sure and a lot of effort went into this one. Thanks Dennis for watching.
This car is beautiful, in mint condition, I had a 73 very nice also❤
@@landylee6880 Yep love the 73s. Thanks for watching.
@@landylee6880 These big coupes Pontiac built were absolutely beautiful cars. '69 - '71 had a bit more growl than the later cars but they all drove so nice. A bit more glamorous than the Chevy version; the Monte Carlo !!!
Very nice. I preferred the generation before, the 1969-1972, but these were a great second. Would also prefer the bucket seats. Personal taste.
Really nice. You almost never see one of these anymore. This is a treasure!
For sure. Thanks for watching Jeff.
Omg that Color 🔥🔥🔥
Thanks for watching.
Stunning, stunning car, and beautifully equipped. I was quite sure it would have the 400. It needs to be permanently on display somewhere. The 301 is perfect for that.
Glad you like it. Thanks for watching.
That is a beautiful automobile!!
Detroit manufacturing in the good old days.
Yep. 👍Thanks for watching.
That is one of the most beautiful car I've ever seen
Thanks for watching Poky.
It's beautiful. Just like new, after all these years. I bought a new '76 Sunbird. I loved it. I took good care of it, and it ran well for 145Kmi. I would have kept it forever, except it rusted. Large holes, both doors, all four fenders, even the cowel.
Thanks Will. There was an "Around The World" trip by National Car Rental back in 76 I believe with a new 77 Sunbird and 77 GP with the new 301 V8 ( actually a 76 with 77 trim ). They wanted to prove Pontiacs 4 cylinder Iron Duke and the new 301 V8's reliability. They both ran great with no problems other than poor fuel in some countries that created other issues. Both cars and their motors ran great and proved well for Pontiac. Thanks for watching.
These were quite special then and even more special now! The design and styling stands the test of time with its sharp crisp lines and well thought sweeping curves and overall angularity! Just beautiful, and this example is beyond amazing…in fact I don’t remember the chrome and bright work gleaming as beautifully when these were brand new! Thanks for sharing this, made my Sunday!
Thanks Carl glad you liked it. Thanks for watching.
Thankyou for your reminder of how beautiful some cars from this era were. In small Canadian towns the Pontiac Dealership was often on main street and the most stylish/attractive models were parked in front of the dealership. You have evoked many memories of the stylish 1970's. This is much appreciated.
Glad you liked it Mary. The 70s are finally getting their time. I think it was the last decade of overly styled cars when size still mattered to the buyer. Truly the end of an era. Thanks for watching.
DAME herecinnUS. Except for some towns or cities had twonPoncho dealers. Even three in Ca some places. there were two in Berkeley and about a mile away down south side was another one in oakland on o Broadway where your movie hero Mr Clinton Eastwood wet to Oakland ztechv high school oakland Z tech
I bet GM really misses those days. Just think there was hardly as much foreign car competition at that time. When you got a car back then, you really got a “lot of car!” I remember having one of those blue top batteries in my 1982 Monte Carlo. I wish all batteries would have that “green eye” now.
Thanks for watching.
It's nice
👍Thanks for watching Ryan.
Love those Pontiac dashboards!
Me too and we're not alone. Everyone seems to like them. Thanks for watching.
That front end and dash board is what sold me on my 76. Plus my dad was a Pontiac man . He owned a 52 starchief a 59 starchief loved that car. He also owned his last car was a 70 Catalina
This car is excellent super fully loaded flawless I would offer the owner $110,000 dollars if I had it my only major beef is the motor is too small should have a 400 or 455 under the bonnet I prefer console shifter with swivel buckets but I would take it as is Jim Wangers signature is a real bonus GM should have kept Pontiac and rejuvenated the performance division that car has been nurtured like a baby that interior is flawless had to be a garage kept car the problem with white interiors they tend to yellow as they mature but after viewing this like 5 times I can’t see any blemishes or discoloration on that White business class interior Bravivisimo !!!
Thanks for watching George.
I would have preferred the big block V8 as well but it would have to have been a 400. The 455 was dropped for that year. I had a 301 in a 79 Bonneville. It wasn't very powerful but it was adequate, ran very smoothly, never gave me any problems and wasn't a gas hog.
@@kenglavens6455 ok got ya thanks I love Pontiacs

Well, it will look great in a museum.
It sure would Mike. Thanks for watching. 👍
You got that right.
The 400 was the way to go, but not a 301.
301 was a good engine, but it had no power.
@@patrickflohe7427 we gotta remember the times. Fuel efficient engines were what people wanted. The gas crisis was a big issue then. The 301 was actually the most popular engine in the GP and Bonnie's. Enough power and fuel efficient for everyday use. Today these cars are used differently and not often at all. Thanks for watching. 👍
@@Mikesclassicautoworld
I do.
I had a 301, and it was no better than my Olds 350, on gas.
the new Pontiac '301'/302" V8 that got great MPG for 1970's... 16 city / 23 hiway... 400s got about 8... wouldn't have been "TH400" tranny, more likely TH350 or TH200...
Incredible car. Such style, grace, sportiness
Thanks for watching Bradley.
Outstanding Car! The best I’ve seen anywhere! Your a lucky guy! 5 Stars!
Thank you sir. I appreciate it and thanks for watching.
This car has just about every option you could order in 1977. Bucket seats would have made this car perfect.
Yep. No buckets but power bench was an option. Thanks for watching Allison.
Very nice !! Only problem I have with it is the fuel mileage. Car is very heavy.
This one gets decent mileage with the 301. And its very reliable. Thanks for watching Bob.
They were as nice a two person car as you could get. Big car very nice ride, power was on par with other cars of the 70’s. So comfortable ! I put many miles on them.
You're right Fabien. They're great cars. Thanks for watching.
A friend of mine’s had 1 of these ‘77 Pontiac Grand Prix and I remember working on his car, it was the same exact colors! He Loved his car ! 1 of the best Pontiac !
I agree Eric. I don't see many left in this exact color combo. Thanks for watching.
Another perfect reason to love vintage cars and I do too! Nice equipped example and a beautiful color combo!
I love them all as well. Thanks for watching.
My dad bought a 1975 Pontiac Grand Prix j model
Thanks for watching John.
I had a 76 with t-tops. Loved that car.
Beautiful. Thanks for watching.
I dig that Grand Prix, right on✊
Thanks for watching Dave. 👍
most of the Grand Prix had bucket seats. It was my dream car in high school.
Thanks for watching.
I wouldn’t say most, but many.
Possibly the most beautiful GM large coupe ever built. The Monte Carlo was not quite as elegant.
Thanks for watching.
Very nice Grand Prix. I was a fan of the body style for 1977. 1976 was good also. There other other Grand Prix as well like 1981-1987 too. There is something unmistakable about the 1977. I have never seen one this loaded. This one is quite loaded. Thank you for sharing. My uncle had a white 1977 with snowflake wheels and bucket seats and the other options. You miss cars and styling like this.
I agree. I'm also a fan of the 76 and 77 as well as the 78-87. The snowflake and honeycomb wheels are some of the best wheels to come from Pontiac. That white 77 with options and snowflakes must have been a real looker. Thanks for watching.
@@Mikesclassicautoworld Thank you for sharing.
@@OLDS98 You're welcome. 👍
Had a black one of these back in the day would be considered a huge car by todays standards but was considered a midsize back then. These had some of the biggest and heaviest doors ever put on a car.
For sure.👍 Thanks for watching.
I graduated from college in 81. My first purchase was a 77 GP in the opposite color combo. White with blue landau roof. Blue interior but buckets and a console. Fantastic highway cruiser. Just needed the 400 instead of the 301. This car is beautiful.
Thanks for watching Karlton. 👍
Best looking 70s car hands down

That's one of the most beautiful grandprix's I've ever seen. 😊

the gas milage on these things weren't the greatest - but trees would get out of the way, when they saw these things coming !!
This one has the smaller more fuel efficient V8 to go with the reliability. Pretty decent for its day. Thanks for watching Mark. 👍
Those and the '79 - '85 Eldorado were some of the most beautiful cars ever built.

is this a FWD car..??..I remember a friend in LA..she was driving her grand ma"s PONTIAC that look very much like this car here..white & blue top coupe..and it was a FWD car...
Nope its RWD. Thanks for watching. 👍
I owned 3 of these, all triple white. A 1973 455/4 - a 1976 and 1977 400-4's. They were 3 of the best cars I ever owned and I never had a problem with any of them. Wish I had all 3 back in my garage.
👍They are great cars Rich. Thanks for watching.
I believe this is the GP on the June 2008 cover of Hemmings Classic Car magazine. It is a beautiful GP indeed, however to have ordered a 3rd gen GP with a bent seat misses the whole unique design element of the GP's. I'm lucky enough to still have my father's 73 porcelain blue LJ that he bought brand new, bucket seats & all.
Your right Scott. This is the one. By 77 these cars came with several seat options. You're lucky to have that 73. I believe the LJ option was introduced in 75 but either way it sounds like a nice car. Thanks for watching.
@@Mikesclassicautoworld Nope Mike, it's an LJ, they didn't use the exterior LJ emblem until the later cars, even have the original window sticke. It was more common to see the bench seat option on the 76's because for watever crazy reason they cut the prices to try to appeal to a wider audience. I'm actually planning on building a GP with a modern Raylar 8'1 & 4 speed auto, the only physical giveaway will be a leather interior.
@@512bb Got ya. Are you sure its a 73 or a 75?
@@Mikesclassicautoworld Ok Mike, I owe you a big apology, you are right my friend. All these years I thought it was an LJ but as you correctly said 75 was the first year. I'm a very experienced collector so don't know why I always thought it was. The interesting thing with our 73 is it is fully loaded like an SJ / LJ with the exception of the 455. Your video actually help me discover a few things I didn't know as my dad just told me 2 things, when he went to the dealer it was inside the showroom & he just loved the look & the 400 motor was the clincher because of the gas crisis at the time. It's funny how each year has different things that you prefer. For instance I like the wood door panel inserts with the Grand Prix emblem as opposed to the pull straps of the later cars, I like the 75 best of the. round headlight GP's & love the front end of the 77. I can't really remember running across a 73 - 75 with a bench seat even though it was offered. None the less your 77 is the prettiest I've seen so much so I have that Hemmings framed in the den
@@512bbAll is good Scott. You've got a really nice GP and being your fathers car purchased new I'm sure it's going to stay in the family. Or at least I hope so. 👍Once they leave the family they rarely come back. Thanks for watching.
301 with a turbo 400?? Wow!! Highly optioned for a Grand Prix that wasn't a SJ or an LJ. ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL. How many miles?
It has 143K believe it or not. Thanks for watching Shawn.
Y’all can have your Camry’s and your SUV’s, and all of your high-tech crap. I’ll take this any day over anything offered today.
I hear ya! 👍Thanks for watching.
As beautiful and incredibly stylish as this car is, it would be even more so with the t-tops and bucket seats that could be ordered on the Grand Prix. Love the blue exterior with white interior color combination!
Thanks for watching Tom.
Stunning car!
That beautiful of a car, and then I see & hear it’s a full bench seat and a 301.
Don’t know why people went that route.
Mom & Dad had a ‘77 that was white with red velour interior, T-Tops, etc….she was fully loaded.
It was my mom’s favorite car of all time.
She’s 92 now, and still remembers it fondly, and even remembers Dad special ordering it for her.
The gas shortage surely was the reason for the 301. It was their most popular V8 then. Sounds like your parents had a sweet car. White with red velour int. Nice. Loaded up like that and she still has the good memories. That's nice. They're great cars. Thanks for watching.
I had a 1976 I bought new. 350. Great car should have kept it. Bought it when I was 19 yrs old. 5600.00

This is a very pretty Pontiac Grand Prix. Without looking I'd say it's a 77. The Monte Carlo and Grand Prix were very nice cars.
You're right Tommy. Thanks for watching.
... and the 1976-'77 Buick Regal and Oldsmobile Cutlass were _MUCH_ more nice GM A-Body platform rides.
I have seen this car at the Philly auto show, it is a real beauty. Looks just as good in person, as it does on the video.
Thanks for watching.
PONTIAC'S FINEST!!!!!!
Yep. Thanks for watching.
I have to laugh at those bumper slots for the factory tire jack. On my 77, I used it to change a tire once and being the car was older, the bolts sheared off the shock mounts to the bumper. Best use a floor jack. My 77 had a Pontiac engine, that might be a Chevy engine, they were much better. I enjoyed it because repairs were inexpensive. For $6100 new, well worth it.
Thanks for watching.
The 301 was a Pontiac engine. Chevrolet had the 305.
Now that is beautiful GP ' J ' MODEL. ONE OF THE NICEST I'VE SEEN IN A VERY LONG TIME 😊
