At 8:53, blender uses radians, which means a full turn is 360deg = 2π ≈ 6.28. This means that to snap to the nearest sixth of a rotation you need 6.28/6 ≈ 1.047, you stumbled upon 2π/3 which is about 2.094
Hi max and thanks for the cool tutorial. I am still somewhat a blender beginner and I think it would be cool if you display the keys while you're doing stuff in blender. It would really help beginners to see what the tutor is doing and how they're doing it. I know some people do it with step-by-step tutorials but it would also help with tutorials like this. Thank you!
bro fucking same i have litreally no idea what hes doing in these 5 seconds at 3:36, im completly lost. This is the 4th tutorial that i need to skip cuz i have absolutly no idea what the tutor is doing
I can hear the excitement in your voice, that’s what being a true artist is about being open minded and keeping things simple. I know my way around blender but it was hard for me to even get a foundation sometimes. Cool video 🔥
This idea really allows for a lot of alien environments that wouldn't make much sense in the real world but would look great in an art piece or a video game.
i love your tutorials, quick, simple, easy to follow, and well spoken. would you consider activating the key-input display that shows what button(s) are being pressed? i'm still new and don't know all the shortcuts quite yet - like for creating cuts in the meshes. great video again
@@Jordbein after watching this video I went and just learned shortcuts and tried applying them to a very basic scene. coming back, it's a lot easier to follow after having more experience. I'd say his stuff is great as it compresses what someone else could explain in 30 minutes down to 10 minutes. wish he would show or explain the key-presses though
Wow, I really loved this video. Your way of speaking and teaching is totally perfect for my style of learning. I loved this. New subscriber earned for sure
Hey. Thanks for the tutorial. It was a blast to follow through! One thing though, how do I convert the random columns I've made into a permanent mesh? I want to be able to export the model I've made, but it only exports the four base columns that I use for my random generator.
@@srijana6016 yeah it's the Musgrave into the bsdf that goes into volume and then something else w the mix shader that goes into surface. It's an asset so there's definitely more to it. He's probably gonna sell it or make a video about it sooner or later.
Thanks for the great tutorial! Have you gone through your startup file anywhere? I'd be interested to see what default camera/world settings you're using.
Hello, I am beginner and I have question at 6:39 every building Rassemblement in one place I created another collection for buildings also and I don't have problem in Geometry Nodes to what can I do?
I am days new to Blender and was having the same issue as well! Turns out that as you modify an original object, the Scale values eventually are altered and can lead to awkward behavior. Max showed a quick glimpse of the Apply window but I wasn't quite sure what he did with it, why he pulled it up, or even how... Till now. To fix this, first, I suggest you take note of your object's Scale values in the right sidebar Transform window when the "Item" tab is active (Shortcut "N" to toggle visibility). This way you can see the before/after values. To reset an object's Scale values, while in Object Mode, select object > CTRL/CMD + A > choose "Scale" in the Apply window. And voilà!!!! You have reset your Scale values and now the Inset tool in Edit mode should work as intended. I'm not quite sure if this neat trick has its tradeoffs but so far, it's working for me. I like when issues like this happen because then you get to learn valuable tips to fix them. Keep Blendering Sankalp!!! 😁
Anyone know how to get that small rendered view window that Max has on the right side of his screen? I can't find any tutorials online to get it. Thanks!
It might be a plugin but what I did was: Click on the camera > click viewport display dropdown > make sure 'passepartout' is checked and turn the value to 1. You can then right click the top menu, hit 'show header'. IDK how to remove the axis on the top right for only the window though. Its not exactly the same but does help a little bit
Hi guys, at 6:40 my collection info is not working and a exclamation mark at collection info. on the error "collection contains object current" . edit: guys i fix it. but i will not delete this comment. solve is, however when i created a plane is automaticly in at "stuff" collection, when i change the collection of plane the problem is solved.
Hey Max. At 11:40 you add the image image to a basic wall. Do you know it this works in UE5 as well? I'm currently using only UE5 and it would be nice to use stock images for basic lighting of my scenes. Im procrastinating on learning blender lol
8:50 that value you are adjusting in the snap node is referring to radians most likely. Since 2 radians is 360 degrees and the hexs looked perfectly orthogonal with that.
Would you mind explaining what separate children, reset children and pick instance does and why its required to tick them on? I respect what Ducky does, but I appreciate how you explain things. Cheers!
when im at the geometry nodes portion of the video, and I try connecting my collection as the instance in the 'instance to points' node, it adds more of my structures to the collection area, not to the spot where the plane is. Any idea why? The plan isn't in that collection, so i'm a little confused. And all scales/transforms are applied.
Love your videos. The only thing that I would love to see are the shortcuts you are using :D or the keys that you are using. Can you activate them please :)

@@maxhayart and I think you can type “2 pi/6” in the sliders as well
@@deviantvision4995 You can even get simpler! 'tau' is defined as a full circle in radians, so you could go 'tau/6' tooo.
Could you not also just convert the unit into radians and go from there?
Yes to all
