The Yamaha by a lug nut over the Ludwig. I have the Black Beauty and a Yamaha Steve Gadd Signature. Both are great sounding drums but imo the snares on the Yamaha sound like the old school Supraphonics. .
It's the Ludwig for me, but only just! I've got a brass Ludwig (14*5 brass phonic) and a recording custom brass (13*6.5) and they're both amazing. Sound quite similar actually, but there's something indefinable about the Ludwig snare sound that always gives me goosebumps, so it's that one for me. The DW is a little dry and cold for my taste, but what do I know? Still sounds good and I'll bet it's lovely to play. SLP is a great sounding snare and I'll bet it's the best value for money 🤑
For me, it's 1. Yamaha RC, 2. Ludwig, 3. Tama & 4. DW. I recently bought 14x5,5 Yamaha Brass Recording Custom and it has controlled overtones like in this 14x6,5.
That Yamaha sounds really nice, but for me the Ludwig Striped Brass is the best. Just seems to stand out more with it's sound, both in low and high tunings
Tama SLP does it for me! I think it comes stock with 42 strand wires, but that’s beside the point. This drumble is going to difficult, all of the snares sound great!!!
I've gotta go with the Tama here - it's got a great bark, a pure sound from the snare wires, and almost even more importantly, it sounds like it'd be easier to record/mix.
I was surprised to find the Yamaha as my favorite, followed by the Ludwig, then DW, then Tama. There’s a bright presence to the yammie that I really liked, plus I like a bit more snare activity, it seems a very responsive drum.
I too thought the DW had the best "tone". But at the higher tuning I thought it was a bit "thin" sounding. So I defalted to the Yamaha. But it was close!
Another fine (and fun) video from DCP! My top choice is the Ludwig Striped Supra. (Initially went with the DW, but after multiple listens, had to go with the Ludwig.)
All are great and I would be happy to own any one of them. The DW is best suited for my style and the Yamaha is second. You guys are awesome, when it comes to drums and cymbals I’ve always made my decision after watching y’all’s videos. To the Mouth of the North, Thank You for what you and your guys do for everyone. Austin Tx. says Howdy 👋
Tama. It seems to do a little bit of everything. I watched this video a bunch of times - the DW stood out at first as perfect for heavy genres. The overtones are great, and can be muffled if need be. But the other drums have a better rim shot. The Ludwig has the fattest backbeat and was my second pick. It sounds very smooth. It would be an amazing workhorse at any tuning, but I really don't tune low, and I liked the Tama's high tuning more. As an audio engineer, I love the RC. As a drummer, it's not my first choice. The Tama bridges all of the gaps. It has "boing" and it has a fat backbeat. It would probably record well too.
I know Ludwig is a safe popular choice, but my heart has to go to the Tama SLP Black Brass. I have an older Tama Metalworks 6.5x14 Special Edition with the black die cast hoops and black hardware and it's a sexy beast for short money.
They all sound great, really, BUT the Ludwig had something special. The ring was most pleasant, and the attack sounded both squishy and sensitive and aggressive and “snarey” all at the same time! I want to hit it!👍🏻
Right out of the chute, four great drums ... love you all doing this ... If you have it, would love to see the new Ludwig 6.5 x 14 Raw Bronze and the newly re-released Ludwig 8 x 14 Hammered Supraphonic Bronze. They will give the competition against them a good run for their money. Love you folks videos... Now to get the headphones to listen and vote.
They are of course all nice but for me, the Yamaha had nicer overtones and the fattest and best balanced sound. Although how the drum “feels” has a part to play.
I like the Ludwig the best. DW is my 2nd favorite, but the attack was more muted, and the ring had more sustain. Both had a nice sound, but the Ludwig takes my vote. Plus, the Ludwig was the best looking.
This is a wonderful idea for a series! My honest vote would be The Ludwig Supraphonic Raw Striped Brass Snare Drum 14x6.5. All the others are great but I love the crack of it and the big body sound with slight dryness. I hope I can win it! Keep it up!
All are great but if I need to choose, for me personaly: 1) Yamaha for it's perfect timbre and versality, good in both low and high tunings- some ring that you can muffle if you'd like but not too much, nice texture and depth, rich sound 2) Ludwig - great at low tuning, lacking some character and depth in higher tuning 3) DW - Nice sound, but little "canny" - not too much texture in the sound 4) Tama - Nice, but too muffled to my ear, for some very speciffic needs
All great snares, but the Ludwig has my vote, on both tunings, the overtones were controlled, and that crack was almost palpable. Thanks guys, look forward to Round 2 of the Drumble.
This new series finally convinced me to hit Subscribe. 😆 I am biased towards the Tama SLP. Can’t beat that beefy low-end sound and the crack in higher tuning! My second choice is the Supraphonic, it’s like an upgrade to the classic Supraphonic sound.
The winner is the Ludwig. Although i’m not happy about the higher prices of Ludys now and changing the heads and throw offs. It’s just a great sound. The Tama takes a surprise 2nd. Great sound and price. The DW takes a close third. I really liked the crack. And the yamaha is a great all a rounder. can’t go wrong. I’ll be adding the new Ludwig striped brass to my collection damn it. 😀 Great video!
First world problems complainting about the price of a drum you are going to add to a "collection." Why do collectors have all the toys and moan the most?
You may have noticed that I spelled “square off” incorrectly. The Exceptional American is a terrible speller, and I was still in character during the editing process.
Sometimes it's hip to be square Adam
It’s kool I new it was kayfabe. Wee fergive yu
@@jermss_preesh
he'll ya borther!
Well, you said you were a drummer. Right?
The Ludwig here. They’re all great drums of course, but I think the Ludwig has the most complex sound, yet consistent across tunings and microphones.
Agree.... with the DW second... the DW almost has too much of the goods the Ludwig has.
Loved the TAMA SLP! Definitely my vote considering I’m a Ludwig snob
eww!
The Tama SLP sounded the best to me, but honorable mention to Ludwig for sounding great and being the best-looking!
Suggest to hide which snare is which, people could judge by the sound as first criteria and not get influenced by the brand name...also will be more interesting to participate (:
This is a great idea, and may do it in later rounds...
Ludwig. It's going to be hard to unseat a Ludwig snare drum in sound & popularity.
The Yamaha by a lug nut over the Ludwig. I have the Black Beauty and a Yamaha Steve Gadd Signature. Both are great sounding drums but imo the snares on the Yamaha sound like the old school Supraphonics. .
The Yamaha for sure, works in every tuning😮💨😮💨😮💨
My choice too. Ludwig too "boxey" at low tuning. DW too "thin" at high tuning.
Gimme that Yamaha 🔥
The Yamaha is the winner for me, but the Ludwig is so close!
Ludwig striped brass has my vote. My 2nd choice would be the Tama SLP.
I like the DW. Nice focused sound. Good for studio work.
I vote for the Tama SLP! I love how that sounds!
Yamaha RC by a nose over the Ludwig, then DW and SLP. I's so tough and all sound great, but the SLP speaks less than the other 3.
For me, it's 1. Yamaha RC, 2. Ludwig, 3. Tama & 4. DW. I recently bought 14x5,5 Yamaha Brass Recording Custom and it has controlled overtones like in this 14x6,5.
You beautiful dingdongs exemplify what life is all about: having passions and being silly.
I love it so much.
TAMA Black Brass for me. They are all nice, hard to choose.
That Yamaha sounds really nice, but for me the Ludwig Striped Brass is the best. Just seems to stand out more with it's sound, both in low and high tunings
Tama SLP
Just great drums.
Close Second for me the Ludwig Supra, but all sounded great.
By the way that Sonor Bass goes Boom sounding huge💪🏾
Yamaha for me. The Ludwig looks great.
I like the Tama. It seems to have the most even frequency spread.
TAMA SLP Black Brass 👌🏼🖤
This is dope! My Vote is the tama slp black brass. Beautiful sounding drum.
Tama SLP Series Black Brass Snare Drum 14x6.5
Tama SLP does it for me! I think it comes stock with 42 strand wires, but that’s beside the point. This drumble is going to difficult, all of the snares sound great!!!
I gotta go with the Yamaha. They're all hecken nice but the Yamaha has a nice complex crack with some depth that is appealing to my ear.
Id be happy with any of those. Thanks, guys!
I love the Tama black brass
I like Yamaha the most, it has always a nice sound and bite!
But all other snare drums are awesome as well! Thank you DCP 🎉
Yamaha Brass RC - but I must say that new Ludwig Stripped Bass (oh, Brass) looks fabulous.
I've gotta go with the Tama here - it's got a great bark, a pure sound from the snare wires, and almost even more importantly, it sounds like it'd be easier to record/mix.
The Tama one for sure!
I was surprised to find the Yamaha as my favorite, followed by the Ludwig, then DW, then Tama. There’s a bright presence to the yammie that I really liked, plus I like a bit more snare activity, it seems a very responsive drum.
The Tama SLP sounds the best to my ears.
Tama guy here but the aftertone on the DW wins it for me. Thanks DCP!
I too thought the DW had the best "tone". But at the higher tuning I thought it was a bit "thin" sounding. So I defalted to the Yamaha. But it was close!
The Tama for me as well but I am not pro at this at all. It just sounded so good to me
I like the Yamaha the best. A little more open, probably because of the triple flange hoops against the die cast on the Ludwig.
Tama SLP Black Brass sounds the best to my ears.
The TAMA SLP Black Brass.
Yamaha Recording Custom!!
Tama for the win! Love the richness!
Quatro marcas fantásticas com suas Caixas sensacionais ! Vídeo bem esclarecedor !!!!
Yamaha!
Yamaha has my vote. Very tough call though, they were all good
Shout out to you for being an audio engineer. 🤘🏽
Ludwig 100%. It has a lot more body than the others, especially in the higher tuning
My Vote the SLP Black brass Snare. Sounds awesome and very loud 🖤
Second time listening and still Yamaha. Best Tonk!!!!
Yamaha Recording Custom is my pick guys.
I'm 60yrs played a lot of snares and own 32.
Great concept. Rock On.
Yamaha is the winner for me. They all sounds good but the flange hoops on the Yamaha sounds amazing 🤩.
My vote goes to Tama SLP.
I like the DW snare.
The definition of top shelf retail! DCP = 💯
I want to hit it!👍🏻
Tama has my vote Ludwig 2nd
The DW Polished Brass has my vote for the win! It’s more warm, sharp, and dynamic then the all the other snare drums.
Tama SLP
Right out of the chute, four great drums ... love you all doing this ... If you have it, would love to see the new Ludwig 6.5 x 14 Raw Bronze and the newly re-released Ludwig 8 x 14 Hammered Supraphonic Bronze. Yamaha Recording Custom Brass
They are of course all nice but for me, the Yamaha had nicer overtones and the fattest and best balanced sound. Although how the drum “feels” has a part to play.
Agree. The Yamaha sat right in between the ludwig and DW for me. Ludwig too "boxey" at lower tuning, DW too "thin" at higher tuning.
I like the Ludwig the best. DW is my 2nd favorite, but the attack was more muted, and the ring had more sustain. Both had a nice sound, but the Ludwig takes my vote. Plus, the Ludwig was the best looking.
Thought id like the luddy but that yamaha is perfect
Ludwig. No doubt. Although the SLP was nice.
DW wins it for me,, 👍🌟😎🌟👍
Tama SLP is giving Bell Brass realness!
Lower tuning: ludwig, higher tuning: slp
How am I supposed to count this vote
:)) ludwig
This is a wonderful idea for a series! My honest vote would be The Ludwig Supraphonic Raw Striped Brass Snare Drum 14x6.5. All the others are great but I love the crack of it and the big body sound with slight dryness. I hope I can win it! Keep it up!
I love Tama, but the low tuning of the Ludwig!
The Yamaha has my vote in the first round over the Tama by slimmest of margins
Yamaha definitely
🤔 Man, very hard to choose, they all sound killer. My vote goes for the Yamaha one, sounds thick, powerful and bright.
I love the DW. But honestly they're All excellent snares!
I vote for the Tama, though by scrolling, I know I'm not in the majority...all good though
I’d go with the Yamaha RC. It had the sound I’d prefer. It was close for all four.
Tama SLP for me. Loved it when you dig in on the rim shot.
I love this idea! The Ludwig Supraphonic striped for me.
The clear winner is Adam’s romper 😂 ….. the Ludwig snare coming in a distant second place!!!!
And be sure to ask the CEO how much he loves Ludwig's speed King pedals😅😊😅😅😅
My vote: DW Polished Brass, both in lower and higher tunings
I'm a DW guy through and through........ the Ludwig is actually insane..... Ludwig for this round for sure
The Tama is my favorite. The other 3 sound too similar to me.
DW really surprised me 😯 up to the classics!!
Yamaha Recording awesoma as always
All are great but if I need to choose, for me personaly:
1) Yamaha for it's perfect timbre and versality, good in both low and high tunings- some ring that you can muffle if you'd like but not too much, nice texture and depth, rich sound
2) Ludwig - great at low tuning, lacking some character and depth in higher tuning
3) DW - Nice sound, but little "canny" - not too much texture in the sound
4) Tama - Nice, but too muffled to my ear, for some very speciffic needs
They all sound great but for my ear and money I give the edge to Yamaha
All great snares, but the Ludwig has my vote, on both tunings, the overtones were controlled, and that crack was almost palpable. Thanks guys, look forward to Round 2 of the Drumble.
This new series finally convinced me to hit Subscribe. 😆
I am biased towards the Tama SLP. Can’t beat that beefy low-end sound and the crack in higher tuning!
My second choice is the Supraphonic, it’s like an upgrade to the classic Supraphonic sound.
1. Yamaha
2. DW
3. TAMA
4. Ludwig
Hmm weird as I think Yamaha and Ludwig sound almost the same.
my vote goes for Tama SLP Black Brass!
The best one to me is the yamaha brass snare drum
I just bought one off Craigslist basically brand new for 280 from a dude
Tama are the best.🤟
Yamaha for me.
You guys are true DRUMMERTAINMENT!
I bought the Yamaha RC last year. Sounds so good. I play drums just to hear that snare.
i prefer the tone colors on the Ludwig snare
The Ludwig raw stripes !!! Btw Jim Duggan rules !!!!!
