Buying A New Camper! - We Never Thought This Change Would Come (Or Happen This Fast)

- While this might come as a shock to some of our loyal truck camper viewers, we're so excited for these next steps and new style of camping! We promise to use the extended stays campgrounds to explore more areas, plan cooler trips, and maybe throw some information into our videos about the surrounding towns.
Did you expect this change? We'd love to have a conversation about it in the comments section!

I love this new development! Congratulations for having the courage to make a change when the time was right! 🙌
Thank you, it sure did feel right!
Congratulations! My wife and I have been married for 33 years, we’ve done everything from a tent to our newest trailer a 30 foot fifth wheel. I know you will love the extra room. Winnebago is one of the oldest brands around and still make quality campers.
May God bless you both as you start a new chapter!
We had a 21 foot Jayco trailer, then a Northern Lite 10-2 truck camper, then a 35 foot Heartland toyhauler. Now we are back to a Arctic Fox truck camper but with a slide. So nice with the slide. We just got back from a 4400 mile trip with the camper and it was great. They all have their place. Good luck and have fun in your future adventures!
My only suggestion would be a North/South bed over East/West design hands down. It gets old fast having to climb over your partner to go to the bathroom!!🚽🧻
We would have liked a N/S bed as well, but the overall length was a bonus for this trailer!
Congratulations you deserve it. Thank you for taking us along with you. God Bless. I am happy for you.
Congrats on your new trailer! Didn't see that coming but it's such a nice little rig. So happy for you!
We love it so far!
Congratulations!!! The towables are so much easier than the truck camper! You guys are going to love it!!! Happy for you guys!!!!!😊
202k miles on my ‘14 Ram. Still on the original rear brakes. Travel with confidence.
Great choice! Happy for you guys!
There's another RUclips traveler that had the same problems you are having and got a travel trailer. You are making the right decision.
Winnebago is one of the best campers for the money. Minnie Winnies are awesome. I have towed a lot of them. Sweet 😁.
Glad that you have one
Now days, you have to jump on good deals. People are grabbing everything up fast. They know prices are rising on everything. I'm happy you got something you feel comfortable with. And it is really nice. I love the floor plan. Thumbs up.
I think you’re right in getting the trailer. I just don’t understand why you don’t like slides, we love our slides. Congratulations on your purchase.
We might just not have any experience with them, but wanted to go “simple” on our first setup. Maybe someday!
We are so excited to see you in your trailer as that is what we are doing too. We are getting a 3/4ton ram and a 22 foot Airstream trailer. Also we are in the process of buying 5 acres with a cabin on it. So what you are doing is the same as us. We are planning a year long trip around the U.S.A. So watching you is inspiring for us as well.
I did not see this coming we love our travel trailer for all the things you said. Congratulations
We didn’t either, but we’re excited for the change!
Nice choice! We went the opposite direction from a 33ft Jayco with a big slide to a 26ft inTech with no slide. No regrets. Love camping in the U.P. and planning a few more trips before winter.
All about the downsizing! There are so many great layouts in the 20-28’ range. And the UP sure is a special place!
InTech are fiber glass travel trailers correct? They do look nice.
We went from a 5th wheel that was 39 feet long. Now we’re in an Arctic Fox 811 truck camper
We had a 2021 Forest River and it was built like junk. Lots of problems from factory. 36’ though and a tornado hit it and totaled it this year. Great for us. Looking forward to your new adventures.
Haven’t finished watching but am really leaning towards a sheep camp that they make in Utah. Really well built dang good camp peak mountain I think they are called on RUclips
What?!? I did not see this coming!! Congrats on the new camper, looks super cute! Can’t wait for the tour!
I've been following along with Connor since he was a college kid in a home built camper trailer.
When I retired and went full-time, that's exactly what I did.
Had a load of fun building it, and it's likely to outlive ME.
I think you have chosen wisely. Grandpa's lightly used Winnebago has a much better chance of being reliable, than some other brands these days.
The only advice I have is water is a trailers worst enemy. Do a seam check a couple times a year.
I think y'all done good.
How cool, thanks for the years of support! We would have loved to build another cargo trailer, and still might someday down the road. They’re a great platform and definitely last a lifetime! As always, thanks for the comment Reuben!
Awesome hope you have fun with the new camper congratulations
Congratulations on your new camper. I’m almost as excited as you guys are. That’s a very different utility than the truck camper and I think you all will definitely appreciate the differences. So, enjoy and thanks for taking us along. Much love to you both.
Looking forward to the new setup! I think it was a great decision. More important one that works best for you guys.
beautiful pup! tyfs
Such an adorable switch!
Thank you! Glad you got to see it!
Love the little Wini! My wife and I retired 2 years ago and bought a 26’ toyhuler and absolutely love it. No slides, 12 volt ref. (Love it) and under 5 thousand pounds….easy to pull. Looking forward to your new adventures, congratulations!
Love to hear it! What 12v ref do you have? We are looking around and all the reviews are mixed
Look into JC refrigeration in Elkhart Indiana. They make conversion kits from an LP fridge to a 12 volt fridge for less that half the cost or a new 12 volt fridge. You just swap out the refer unit on the back and use the same "box"
You wont regret it,they are made well
I want to get a Host Yukon 11.6 truck camper and put it on an F-550 84” CM flat bed and get custom storage under the wings and garage up front between camper and headache rack. You want a Grand Design 22mle, great couples camper
Yay! Love the new camper & completely on board with the no slide. We’ve had several campers over the years, most with slides but purchased our last one without a slide & we will never go back to having slides, sooo much easier. The Winnebago looks really well cared for & should last you for a long time. Another RUclipsr, Traveling Robert uses the Micro Minnies for his travels & has had the same floor plan that you just purchased. Enjoy and happy travels!🎉
We are always packing up quick and just wanted one less item to have to setup and/or go wrong! And we’ve seen some of Traveling Roberts videos, lots of good tips!
I'm interested to see how you like the travel trailer, but I hope you decide to keep and continue posting truck camper content. I can totally see using both for specific types of travel. I'm all in the truck camper camp, but my wife wants an airstream 25fter
We’re considering keeping the truck camper as well! Not sure we’ll be able to get much from it in the current camper market so might as well get more use out of it
@@LivingLargeCamping The wife wanting an Airstream 25fter is very wise. I have had everything from the $1M Prevost type to the Airstream. The Airstream is worth every penny.
Absolutely love it! My husband and I we had a rooftop tent, truck bed camper and now we have an a frame pull behind! Love y’all’s channel!
We love our travel trailer and I like you made the right choice. Enjoy your travel trailer
Thank you, Tony!
We also live in the mitten and have a tt your house looks like a beauty in the woods
Congratulations 🎊 👏 💐 🥳 🎊. Hope you enjoy the new camper 😊😊😮😮🎉🎉❤❤.
Thank you!!
Nice camper they are well made. Great pic
Love it it’s so cute! Great decision!
Nice trailer. I think that you should seriously consider an equalizer hitch. You will notice a real positive difference in towing.
We have one, just need to get it setup with the truck
Winnebago is a good brand, check out Bigfoot, Escape and Oliver, all fiberglass trailers, pricy but worth the money, I agree with no slides and 12v fridge, with a bumper pull you can haul a water tank and portable dump tank, best wishes 😊
Congratulations! I'm sure you'll love this trailer compared to the truck/camper❤❤
The used one you looked at is awesome. It is better made than most other brands.
We could instantly tell a difference in build quality, and the price was lower than the other campers we looked at!
@@LivingLargeCamping
Great choice. Pull behinds are cool. I have a rpod and it serves me well.
Get a fifth wheel Grand Design 150-series 260rd. Lots of room easy to tow with even with a F-250 4x4. Only 29’ long and plenty of tank space. We love ours. Auto level and huge 16 cu./ft Fridge with 384 watts of solar on top and 50a charge controller so you can expand and inverter ready. Quietest a/c on the market.
You might like it, I would have to pass, the bed ain’t right climbing over each other at night to pee. The dinette looks wimpy.
Also that trailer is way to small for an F-350. OMG you can get a lift and put it in the bed of your truck and it would handle it.
Happy for y’all. As your needs and travel style changes, your camper has to change. I’ve had 6 different setups and each one was great for the time. You guys made a good choice.
Wow, congratulations! But yes, I knew it. From the start you were going to get the Winnebago! Yes, the quality is much better on older units! Happy camping trails to both of you.👍
It was too good to pass up!
We travel by staying at a place a week or more to explore, so we love having a pull-behind to park, and a truck for exploring. I would not want to move my home to go to the store. There are pros and cons with each camper setup.
Agreed, lots of pros and cons with each setup!
I bought that same trailer in 2015 for $15000 New. I don't recall hearing you mention anything of what the selling price was, or maybe I skipped over what the year was and the price. You bought the better quality trailer. Winnebago is known for its construction and quality. Congratulations. One thing I liked about towing the trailer with my F150 4x4 was that you should not need any additional trailer stabilizing
equipment for it. My truck did come with trailer stabilizing. Maybe your truck has the same. I loved that trailer. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me.
😊yeah !!!! Can’t wait! “ Hope your first adventure is Epic!
They have trailer hitch locks for when you go off exploring !!
We’ll be investing in one!
So happy for you. I think you’re going to love it. We have a 25’ imagine by Grand design and we think it’s perfect! We can’t wait to see how much you like it and where you are going to explore.
We almost looked at a grand design, heard great things about them!
Congratulations too 😊 I also wanted to tell you our camper is setup with solar we use a Bluetti AC200L Battery source where it has a 30amp plug outlet so we can just plug the camper into it to boondock or some call dry camping so we go to a lot of rustic state forest campgrounds and then there have been times we will pull into full hookup sites, the possibilities are endless for us in how we camp. And we pull ours with a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee with a hemi with no issues. Oh and we camp with 3 dogs LOL . Have fun in your new Winnie I think you will love it, it’s a very cute functional camper. ❤❤
I am happy for you guys. You will love having a trailer that you pull. You will love everything about it.
I can unload my truck camper in 10 minutes. But I agree, dropping a trailer and leveling it is far easier. Good luck with it.
Congrats guys! I know when we first started watching you guys I asked a lot of questions about truck campers and was 100% panning on getting one. For multiple reasons we chose a 21 foot travel trailer instead and we Absolutely Love it! I think you will too! Upgrading to Lithium batteries and multiple solar panels along with the 12v fridge has made boondocking great! We’ve only had it for just under two months, but everytime we take it out, we can stop talking about how it is perfect for us. We can’t wait to see where your new camper takes you and Congrats again!
There are so many great reasons for both campers, but since we’re constantly taking the camper off now it just makes more sense to have the trailer! We’re planning on a full roof of solar and will have it setup great for boondocking. Thanks for the support and we can’t wait to share this new chapter!
@@LivingLargeCamping Disconnecting to go explore is very nice! Also, with your 1 ton truck and that small camper you won’t even know it’s back there.
I was surprised but. Not surprised. I had thought the same thing about leaving a spot and losing it. Or having to pack up everything to just run to the store. Congratulations! We bought a new camper.
Thanks for the support!
Get some good mud flats or you’ll be washing your beautiful new camper a lot lol great choice!
Do what works for you! We’ve bought three motorhomes in the past 8 years as our needs have changed. Excited for you!
Seems to be the best way to do it!
Congratulations…..although we are a little older than you all and our needs are different I think you’ll be very happy with your choice. We actually have two rv’s, 39FB Winnebago Destination which we full timed in for 5 years and a 25’ TT. Glad to see younger generations getting out there. We did tour the Winnebago factory last year, great insight. They are very helpful, if you need schematics from them their engineers are willing to give them up. I have both the plumbing and electrical for our Winnebago. Additionally if you’re interested I have pictures from the factory which shows a lot of the Winnebago TT builds. Never too late to visit them to see for yourselves. Not sure what state your in but if your near northern Alabama stop in as we have a spot and hookups. Happy Trails!
Love your new trailer. We just sold our truck and camper 😢 just age caught up with us but we’re thinking of renting if we want to camp. You’re doing the right thing for your new life style, you won’t regret it! We found the camper confining even though we took it off the truck when we camped, and visited the towns we were in, (we had power lifts). I’m looking forward to your next camping adventure.
Yay! I was rooting for the Winnebago!! Figured by how cheaply made the new ones are made and how OVERPRICED they are that you would choose wisely. I love your new home away from home and cannot wait to see how you make it your own cozy space. I love seeing how people decorate. So looking forward to new travels! Congratulations guys. So happy for you.
We made that same move but in the other direction. We bought a sweet little 20-foot 'couples trailer' and loved it. I wanted something I felt more comfortable with towing so I could drive and we also wanted to be able to enjoy small spots and being off grid more. Our solution was a truck camper. If you had been looking two years ago, you might have bought our Coachman 12RBS from us. We live in Michigan! You are right to pursue a rig that seems to fit the style of travel you are enjoying now and not feel like you have to keep using your truck camper. Enjoy your camping days :)
Both are great ways to go about camping! We might keep the truck camper (market pending) to have it for the simple trips every now and then. Either way, always glad to be camping!
Have a great “couples travel trailer” for ya! Health issues and need to sell - a 2022 Keystone Cougar 22MLS …. A bit bigger than the Winnie you just looked at - check out the floor plan of the 22MLS - it’s perfect-for Barkley too! !
And - the Cougar is QUALITY built. Checkout the floorpan!! King sz bed, dinette , recliners, TV, great kitchen, Larger A/C , 2 propane tanks, at and shower ….
Congrats on your new rig!
I have a 2017 2106FBS.
Hope you love yours as much as I love mine.
Lookin foreward to seeing some Mods that I might use!
you are gonna love your mini Winnie. We have one that is the same length the same width , but we do have a slide. The slide is bulletproof on Winnebago. And the quality is so good. We had a grand design about the same length and we traded it because the quality wasn’t anything like the Winnebago is.congratulations
We also started in a pre loved TC...Palomino largest hard side they make. We quickly figured out the tank capacity was far too small to boondocks more than 2 days. We bought a used Ram 5500 w/extended flatbed and a pre loved Arctic Fox for 4 season capability. We too were "antisliders" 😉.....but fell in love with the Arctic Fox with a side slide.....tons more space, a dry bath. Great tank capacity too! Flatbed allows us to bring along two 10ft kayaks stowed on the sides and our bikes behind the headache bars under the overcab. The storage boxes on the sides of the flatbed provide lots of critical storage too. We have removed the backseat for more storage. Our soon to be full-time home o 24:27 n the road!
We bought an older toy hauler. We have two dogs and instead of a keep bought a RZR cheaper maintenance than a keep and goes more places more trails bought an older RZR too as it’s narrower. Toy hauler gave us the off grid ability with two kids and two dogs for two weeks at a time, oir 4 seater fits in back and is always safe, secure, and out of weather when we are not using it. Before that was a pop up camper truck bed and a flat bed trailer. We love the new set up
Sounds like a great setup!
Nice. 👍
Congratulations on your camper🎉 I did not see this coming but I believe you two will love the change 😊
I love your new camper! Glad you chose this one….Can’t wait for the first video in it!!
From Southern Indiana
Good for y’all. Do what u need to do for you! We will keep watching. I don’t watch u for your truck camper. Enjoy your new place and go exploring!!
Congrats on your new camper ! Can’t wait to follow along with you for all the wonderful adventures ahead ❤
Thanks so much!
I like it, Winnebago is good brand.
A couple of thoughts on a 12 v refer. I recently changed over to a 12v here's what I have learned. 200 amph battery lasts about 36 hours w/o any additional charge. If you add a 100 amp portable solar with decent sun add about 12 hours. I generally run my generator a couple of hours a day to be on the safe side. Gas/electric will last days on the same battery. I really like the 12 v and have added 200 watts solar on the roof but have not been out to see how that affects battery life
I think you will like the trailer, enjoy
haha… I commented before watching to the end, you guys will like the small Winnie, will be welcomed in any NP or other campground, in and out of gas stations is super easy, no slide out hassles… I think y’all did great!
We have the 2nd one and love it. Perfect for a couple with a dog.
The reason I watched your channel was due to you having a truck camper. Good luck with the new rig.
Wow! The Winnebago is going to seem like a palace, congratulations on your new adventure.
Congrats! Great choice... Seems like when it's time it does happen fast... Can't wait for the tour.
Thank you, and it just felt right so we couldn’t pass it up!
Congratulations guys! Happy to see you happy about your newest adventure goer! Sounds like you really thought this out and didn’t make a hasty decision!
Although I’m sad to see you get away from the truck camper, that’s what drew me to you since I have dreams of one day going full time in a TC, I’ll still be keeping up with your travels as you do go to some cool locations.
So yeah, looking forward to you getting us out there to more cool locations!
Again congratulations and as always, stay safe out there…..
P.S. Make sure you look at the dates on the tires and be sure to replace if 5 years or older, regardless of how good they look or how much tread is left
Thank you, Mike! We’re still undecided on selling the truck camper, not sure we’ll be able to get much out of it and if that’s the case we’d rather keep it for the occasional adventure! And two tires were replaced this February, we’ll be replacing the other two before we take it any long distance
Wise move kids.
I think it is perfect for the all the reasons you mentioned!! Enjoy and can't wait to see your adventures! Happy camping!!! Love from Canada❤
Thank you, Terry! We’re planning on a trip to Canada in September!
I love the new camper. I have the same thoughts as you about leaving the camper and going exploring in the truck. I plan on getting a RAM 2500 with the 6.4 Hemi and a trailer camper. Glad you said you like your truck and you have not had any issues with it. Can't wait to see you go camping with the new trailer camper and to see how you like towing a camper. Would also like to know the difference in fuel mileage you get with the trailer compared to the truck camper.
I think you do what makes you happy. I really like the first one. It's the perfect size for me, but thete are two of you.
I’m a truck camper fan. But I get it. You could’ve done a bigger truck camper with electric jacks 😏
I think at the end 0of the day you two need to make the best decision that works for you both! That's it! I think it's great to have a camper with a little more space, especially for Barkley when you two go on your trail hikes. He does need a place where it does feel more like home with AC 😊 Y'all did your research and made a good decision that you both can live with and that's all that matters! Congrats! I look forward seeing and hearing more of your adventures in the new fifth wheel.
Congratulations on the new camper. Fun times ahead for the three of you.
Thank you! We’re excited for the new camper!
Kids we own a 2022, keystone hideout and love our Rv - you will love your Winnie
Congrats on the new to you mobile mansion....words of wisdom, 80% of trouble on the road is wheel, tire, brake/bearing related. Every time you stop, look things over, shake and wiggle connection points look for security. Change tires at 6 years from date of manufacture is a good rule of thumb. Happy trails :)
Thanks for the tips, Mike!
Congratulations on getting the Winnebago!! Have Fun with your next Adventures.
I think having the truck you would have a much better ride with a 24 ft 5th wheel. It pulls much better
There is always changes in life. Love your new trailer. Looking forward to your adventures. Winnebago is a good brand.
Love it! I was hoping you would pick this one! We started looking for a travel trailer and the new ones are made so cheap. We thought about a truck camper but would have had to buy a new truck also because of needing a bigger truck. Im so happy for you both! Enjoy!!
I like it, Winnebago is good brand. What size is the trailer? what year is it? I like what you chose. Have fun! It’s fun to get something else?
Not related to camping at all... but I was just in Michigan this week for the first time. It was so beautiful. I was in Macinack City and Mackinac Island. So fun!
Congratulations on your new camper!! 🫂🫂🫂
No trailer manufacturer, even the very expensive ones made a model that met our requirements, so we bought as basic (read cheap) as possible and then tweaked it ourselves. We added our own designed solar/battery bank/internet connectivity/water filtration systems.
We went from a 32 ft to a 21 ft . We love it .
We wanted to stay under 20’ to start and think it’ll be perfect!
CONGRATS!!! So happy for you and you will get many memories and adventures with it. Just one suggestion. I would buy a TMPS system for the trailer, something like a GUTA 4 sensor.. It will save you from the damage or less damage if a tire would blow out. Again CONGRATS!!!!
Thank you! We just picked up a TPMS sensor and will install it before our next trip!
Good luck with the new trailer! AC . YES!!
Congratulations
Can’t wait to see where you go camping first
