I would've gone for walnut pants or just straight up grey since most confederate regular army had that rather than looted / leftover union stuff. Also I would've taken the time to do a flesh dot on the faces and hands. I personally find that wash color plus drybrush made them look a bit corpse-like and manually painting each face and hand is incredibly fast and pops a lot. This is all preference though and all that matters is you're happy with them.

Yes a lot more time spent improves the effect for sure

I like the fact that you did the Confederates and they came out very nicely indeed. Ive enjoyed your recent review of this venture by Warlords. I dont agree with everything you say though but thats what this is all about, differing views but on reflection i think you have done a splendid job giving a very good review and the comparisons. Being new to ACW i think this is perfect for me to do large scale battles as 28mm is such a daunting task for these theatres of war like Napoleonics, American War of Independence and of course ACW. With 28mm Ive found the perfect game for me in Too Fat Lardies Sharp Practice rules. From what I have read I do believe Black Powder is best suited for the larger battles and this scale. Ive never played Black Powder just watched many videos so i may be well off base here but that my early take on it.

Completely agree mate. I love Sharp Practice and actually that’s how I started with AWI, and as the figures grew, I expanded into playing 28mm AWI Black Powder..... but you do need a lot of room for these games as well as figures. As a new player to ACW, I would say these figures are a great option

@@BootsontheTable Likewise i think Sharp Practice is just utterly brilliant especially with the narrative lengths you can go to. I just spotted the Perrys ACW boxset in 28mm perfect for Sharp Practice......bollocks!!! LOL

Nicely done and I quite enjoyed doing mine, the repetition isn’t that bad - I painted the whole sprue in two sessions. The bases aren’t too much of an issue all the rules I use are base driven although I usually use 30mm frontage so these will just equate to two bases no hassle. Think WLG have a great idea

They are not bad. I think it’s the repetition of the same unit over and over again that would dissuade me for now. But you are right that it is cheap to build a big army. If they do ECW that might be a page turner. Also when the cavalry and resin figures come out how much the costs jump up. Bit like dangling a carrot in front of a donkey leading him into a minefield. I do think warlord are slowly turning into the GW of historical gaming.
