Thanks...just trying this in my driveway as a 'just in case' and couldn't find where the rod pushes into, so I'll go and give it another try! Appreciate you taking the time to do the full job of getting the tire out, as it was explained very well. -- Now that I've gone out and done this, I have a 'tip' or two that may help some....keeping a short block of wood (2X4 six" long) is helpful I found, getting one edge of the tire lifted once it's on the ground, so you can wiggle with apparatus at the end of the winch! I also cut four 1/8" thick rubber pieces, which I sat on the tire in the four locations the tire hits on the frame, so any rubbing won't affect the tire...as it IS the outside of the tire showing once it's on the truck, that gets rubbed. Again, this is up to the individual, but I found rather than using the tire iron to lower and raise the tire/winch, a 14mm socket fits the end and I have a 1/2" universal that fit's into my drill, that I can put the 14mm on, and it lowers and lifts nicely...just don't tighten the winch too tight at the top...as I brought it within an inch, then used the tire-iron to finish the tire lifting procedure! I pulled my tire out and gave the tire a good wash! This is on my 2016 F150 XLT with 133K, but the tire is new...and oddly, a different sized tire & rim than what's on the truck! I have 275/55R 20 on the truck, and the spare is a 265/65/18 and the circumference IS a little different, but I assume it would be fine still, as a spare...but I didn't know this, as I've never had the spare down...as it's a metal rim unlike what's on the truck. Also, take the time to check the air pressure, as mine was down to 20 psi, so I put it up to 38 psi, to last for some time with any possible leakage over the years! Unsure why, but I had a heck of a time, getting the 'lock' device that plugs the hole, so if your on the road with a flat, wait until you get home to put the lock in place!

Thank you so much for this! We just had a flat tire and did not have the owner made it with us. We didn’t have a clue how to lower that spare tire in until we found your video.

I had a flat on my F150 yesterday morning in the rain, at the start of rush hour, two hours deep into a 10 hour road trip. For the life of me, I couldn’t figure out the angle of the rod to drop the spare and ended up calling road service. I wish I came your vid first. The angle is up and to the left like you’ve said.

Great video. First time Ford F-150, and pick up truck in general owner so this was extremely helpful. Thanks!

Right on target video....youtube should allow us to send a $5 gratuity (which they could also get a cut from) or something.

Anybody know where to find one of these tire jack kits? Mine didn't come with it and all I can find online is cheap Chinese garbage with terrible reviews...

Poor design. With my f150, the hole is too small for that larger end to fit in the winch. I have to put it in backwards.

The process and mechanism are similar, but not quite the same between modern F-150s.

Easy, unless you buy a 2015 F-150 with Push start ignition and keyless entry. No keys were given to me.

Nice video....My bitch with Ford is this. How much would it have cost Ford to put a sleeve underneath that would have guided the extension directly on to the male end so the tire could be lowered pretty much by a blind man....UGH!
