Hey guys, While going trough Rank II USA i visited the aerocobra's, in this case the P-39Q-5. They are always fun these planes, but definitely the 37 is something you have to get used to, as always with the bigger calibers. Still had fun though, enjoy the review! Dont forget to Like, Comment, Share and Subscribe, it means a lot, and helps the channel. Have a great day! o7
Something to keep in mind, you have to go with one ammo type belt because AP and HE just don't have the same velocity you can see this in the tooltips of said belts. Getting a mixed belt will just worsen the dispersion problem it has.
Aerial gunnery is the skill I find most difficult in wt especially at the higher battle ratings where the distances and angles are greater. It's so satisfying when the 37s are on target. Great video!
The P-39 (and P-63) lines have *unforgiving* playstyles because of that cannon. What works for me is having an energy advantage *at all times* and firing only at ~300m or closer. Unlike the Yaks, P-39s are mediocre dogfighters.
You made me laugh mate :) Although I don't like Cobras too much, my first flight with Soviet P-63 resulted in 6 kills game, just like you. At those times I think it was still BR 3,7.. Man, that low velocity Oldsmobil 37 mm.. Soviet NS 37 is much better in every way.
Don't get frustrated at setbacks, mate. Remember, you are _Jengar._ You could probably take a supermarket trolley up in War Thunder and get a kill with it.
I have still yet to really touch the US P-39s, but I did use the P-39Q 25 for France which seems to be the best version, it has a 4 bladed prop that seems to helps its acceleration. I did pretty well in it.
I like the P39s/63s, the Russian p63 is one of my best grinders. But they would be such better aircraft if they'd dump the 37mm and stick a 20mm in the nose, or a pair of synchronized .50s firing through the prop. The 37mm is just too RNG to be enjoyable to me. Sometimes when you hit the enemy plane completely disintegrates, others you put 4-5 shots into them and they fly off like nothing. 50 cals would just be more consistent. Also even with trigger discipline, you'll randomly have the 37 coming out up to 10 degrees off bore sometimes. It's much better flying on stick though, as trying to set up multiple binds on a mouse for different guns is annoying. On stick, it's easy enough to have 1 for the 37mm alone, and another for the MGs, so you can hold the 37mm until point blank so it can't miss.
When it comes to early American .50cal belts I use ground targets. Using that belt in a P-40 for example is just unfair for anything that wants to be infront of you
I play realistic on console with a controller, the i16 spitfires and p51s are all unflyable due to a glitch where if you let go of the controller the plane starts to turn increasingly fast on its own, these are the only planes that I’ve found to do this, is there any fix? Used to love the i16 in birds of steel… and no it’s not the trim
the only thing i hate and its the one thing i cant stand: that 37mm cannon that makes your ability to aim irrelevant. one way to make it work is fire a not so quick volley of 5-6 shells before it jams, and pray that it hits. aside from that the airframe is excellent for low alt brawling and furballing, if you can trade your 37mm for a 20 mm it would be perfect.... .... .... oh wait, the P400 exists and sits at a lower BR well its still a nice thing to decorate the hangar with
@@jengar6258 That is true...but it is also possible that new players might be put off from pursuing the game further if they are being seal clubbed all the time. It would be better if Gaijin match making took better account of player level... I remember starting this game many years ago with unspaded crews and low skill levels and getting totally anihilated.
I’m not a fan of this thing. I constantly have to fly against BF109‘s and as soon as I get into any kind of fight after the first head on or zoom against them they pretty much can win after that because they have a stock faster rate of climb and similar or better upgrades turn time. So it’s pretty much as soon as you get into one turn they can either out run you in a vertical or out turn you in a horizontal. I guess if you’re good and know how to squeeze this thing It can give you results but for me I play terribly with it compared to when I get in a variety of other planes I’m doing better.

Play the j21a’s
One of my first ever planes, this will forever hold a special place in my heart.
yeah, i flew the other one, skipped this. Wanted to move on to other things. Glad to have visited this plane now though.
Yah, lots of choices for sure... Thank you for sharing!

yeah true, its a patient waitgame .
These make work go by faster! And make me wanna play so hard

roger that ;)
Never seen Jengar miss so many Times :) 😀
hehe, yep, terrible beginning.
Don't get frustrated at setbacks, mate. Remember, you are _Jengar._ You could probably take a supermarket trolley up in War Thunder and get a kill with it.
hehe, human here ;) the RNG on the 37's can be frustrating.
My favorite. Just a beginner but enjoying da hell out of the game thanks to your tips and knowledge you're spectacular sir!!! Bless you!!!
Ty mate, Welcome aboard! :)
@@jengar6258 thank you sir
Haha I’d been using default rounds on everything and now I see why it felt like my bullets weren’t doing anything
autch! o7

Try the N variant , so fast
yeah they are fantastic, just that 37 rng, is an issue for me. I prefer the consistancy of a 20mm cannon, 50 cal or some such.
you made me want to get the p39 jengar
o7
Im a mostly an arcade player , but I would recommend to only fire the 37 MM at 300 mts and only 3 rounds at the time.
single taps works best for this, and make sure your plane is flying faster than your target
yeah true, but when you loose patience, as i sometimes do with the larger calibers, its hard to stay diciplined ;)
@@jengar6258 ...or just use the Yaks for better results lol!

yeah, agreed on all points, dont know anything about the flying with stick experience.
I loved the P-39’s when I had my mouse & keyboard. But ever since I ruined it I can’t play warthunder with the controller setup.
buy a new M&K ;)
Are you playing on a console?

yeah, definitely a good belt.

p-51's have rudder issues at higher speeds. could be that, i-16 i dont know. For the rest i wouldnt know as i dont play with a controller.

I like flying low tier planes but sometimes feel guilty about the easy kills I get against the new players
check the lvls of players in these ranks, you'll find that 50% is lvl 60 and up. many ppl enjoy flying 3.0-5.0 br. no need to feel guilty or anything.

The 2.7 Cobra is faster af though toping out at ~580 on the deck
crazy for that br. might as well be a jet to the planes you face there ;)
Wassup hope you are having a good day
yeah, all well sir, ty!
Haha, i apologize for my remarks about your aim, i cant hit s... with that 😂😢
hehe ;)
it s Airacobra but no Aeracobra
i stand corrected ;) guess it was either a typo or a misread.
*_Not a fan!_*

fair enough mate, keep at it and revisit it in a year or two. you'll see different results most likely.
