I'm.happy you did a video again. People just kept asking how to install. The younger players almost never search so now I will just send a link to this video
Hi, thanks for such an interesting video. I did all the steps as you explained in your video but it didn't work. I put all my information and then went to the meta app and chose my device but the developer option is not enabled. Can you make an updated video? Thanks.
Make sure you checked correct device, especially if you have more than one headset, and check if you go to the correct place in your Meta Horizon app to find the Developer Mode option. Also make sure your app on your phone is updated to the latest version, and so is your headset
This was an absolutely awesome and informative video. Thank you so much for making this. Another question though..... What face pad do you have on your meta Quest 3? That's the exact type that I want and I can't seem to find it anywhere. There is nothing but a bunch of crappy cheap knockoffs on amazon.
Glad it was helpful! I'm using one from KKCOBVR Facial Interface Fan, a pretty decent one actually. They also have a good head strap. Here's that facial interface featured in the video - amzn.to/40StVij
@DiscoVRTetiana you're awesome. Thank you so much for getting back with those who watch your video! Besides the video and knowledge you gave us all, this has earned my sub 💪🏽. Thanks!
Can your Meta Quest 3 become "Bricked" or "Unusable" if Meta discovers that you are utilizing and operating unapproved programs in their device? This appears similar to jailbreaking an iPhone, PS Vita, PSP, Gameboy, etc. which could possibly void warranty? I'm unfamiliar with this subject and I am willing to learn.
No, it will not break or brick your Quest. Meta are fully aware of and are supporting sideloading. Here's proof from Zuckerberg himself: instagram.com/sidequestvr/reel/CVnxtEsNuZ0/
Great question! While Plex doesn't have a listin on SideQUest, you can simply download the plex apk on your pc (from here for example- www.apkmirror.com/apk/plex-inc/plex/plex-10-7-0-5386-release/plex-stream-movies-tv-10-7-0-5386-android-apk-download/download/?key=c6f7bcb470999f97178ba602df21ab05acf42b75&forcebaseapk=true) and then sideload it onto your Quest using SideQuest, and then open it in the Unknown Sources
Why does the ability to change the settings in SideQuest on my Quest 3 ( I have sidequest downloaded on my Quest 3 headset) stop working when I shut the headset down? The Quest app on my phone is connected to the headset and the developer mode is on.
I have toggled the wifi in sidequest on my quest 3 and it does not fix the problem. I keep getting " unable to connect to device, please try again...". I keep having to uninstall side quest from my headset and then reinstall it for me to start being able to change settings again. Again, this is all of what happens when I shut the headset down. If I just put it to sleep I can again change the settings once I wake the headset back up again.
After a length install process, I managed to get sidequest working, only to find that most the games I choose just took me to the meta store. I could have found those easily in the meta store without sidequest.
SQ provides a much better VR game discovery & catalogue than the meta store plagues with gorilla tag clones. Plus you can get VR game ports, custom homes, sideload-only titles, and access to advanced setting of your Quest, things I mentioned in the video.
Well, if you don't want to add custom environments and directly add .apk programs that aren't in the META store, then, no, you have no reason to add Sidequest. If you do want to do those things, though...

If it is not a store, why do they need my credit card #????? The verify explanation is weak. In the past, I have had to run command-line variables to run an executable. I have had to make changes to my registry. But really, I don't want to mess with any of that stuff, ever, at all. So, what Side-quest needs to do is learn how to program all of these steps for me. It can still be in steps, but it needs to be something like, "Step 4: Press OK to turn on developer mode", and then their coding does that for me. "Step 5: Connect your Headset to your PC with a USB cord", and then the coding needs to know that I've done that and take the wheel for me. I don't want to drive this. I know that Side-Quest isn't difficult, and I could learn how to do it. The difference is that I feel like their coders are either lazy or incompetent; and if they can't automate this process for me, then what else couldn't they accomplish? So, no, they are not getting my business (even if it's free); and *HELL NO* they are not getting my credit card number. Wow....
Identity verification is needed to create a developer account (organization) on Meta in order to register as a developer. It’s a Meta requirement which has nothing to do with SideQuest.
@@DiscoVRTetiana As it stands currently, however I'm sure that there could be a work around. And I'm subscribed to your channel and I believe in you. I'm glad that you are making these Sidequest tutorials. They are good, and people who don't have any issues doing a little bit of work are benefitting from it. That said, it would be nice if the process was streamlined better. The idea behind Sidequest is just amazing. But so have the ideas from Pimax; and we all know they could use a little streamlining of their processes. ;)
If you work for side quest then make connecting side quest from PC to quest headset easier. It's too many steps they make me change million settings it took months and it's still not solved
To anyone wondering if this is good it definitely is great vid ❤
Pinning your comment lol 😆
I didn’t ask him to say that
What do YOU use SideQuest for?

Great Tutorial I now have side quest on my Vr headset!
Awesome! Glad it worked for you 🙌
Great video!!! For all the new VR owners will now be able to download games from Sidequest. Excellent tutorial DiscoVR, keep up the great work!
Thanks, I appreciate it!
@ You are the best Tetiana!!! ❤️
That was already possible though…
Been downloading through the Q2 itself since beginning of 2024…
@ I've been making these tutorials since 2021 lol
This is simply the most updated one reflecting the latest changes to the UX/UI
Amazing tool and instruction
extremely interesting.

Do you need a pc for side quest?
I connect my Macbook pro to my Meta Quest 3 like you said but it's only charging not giving the the USB detected option. Why is that?
Probably because you’re using a charging only cable, not a data cable. Try a different one ☝️
Do u need to keep the usb cable in to use sidequest
If you install the SQ VR app on your quest, then you can just use it inside the headset, no cable needed any more!
woo hoo. i thought my 2 was too old yeah. i can join in :-)
Same process works for all models! Enjoy!
Do l set it up from vr or laptop
Laptop
one question, why does it give me an error when
I want to connect my quest 3 to the meta horizon app? please help me
Hey! This is something you would need to trouble shoot with Meta support, since it's not sidequest-related - www.meta.com/help/support/

I can’t find the games that I downloaded.
Is Plex available on sidequest (so I cannect to my plex server via quest 3)?

wth u need a pc is it possiable to just do this with a phone an your meta quest headset???
You can use the web installer using an Android phone, no pc needed!
When I tried to side load a game they won't appear on my apps
Same
So I need a pc to get sidequest?
You can also use a web installer on your Android phone and install the sidequest VR app on your quest without a pc that way
The Nintendo ninjas are now coming for sidequest. =(
That's just any old mustachio plumber wearing red 😁

I just can't get it to install,
Wait until you see Ab Aeterno demo and game test.
So I haven't got a pc. Can I still use this?.
