  • Bambara beans or Bambara groundnuts is a quite similar to chickpeas. It is a very delicous and flavorful bean and when well prepared is it surely a luxury meal. Typically it is eaten as street food with its accompanying tatale (spiced plantain pancakes)...I am guessing mostly because of how long the beans take to cook. Bambara beans and tatale are a match made in food heaven and definitely worth trying. Just so you know you can find Bambara beans in most African markets and on Amazon.
    Ingredients:
    4 cups Bambara beans
    1 medium onion
About 1 pkakpo shito ( use any pepper)
    2 tablespoon brown sugar
    1 tablespoon virgin coconut oil
11/2 teaspoon salt or to taste
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------
    Theme music: Ose yie

Bambara beans are absolutely delicious, this is how I prep mine too. Looks so creamy, I could go for some now!

Ok, this Ga girl will chime in. Yes we eat Bambara with sugar but in my family the sugar is added after it is dished out at the dinner table. Secondly, my family also make palmoil stew and add the Bambara beans instead of black eye beans and sprinkle gari on it. We likewise eat this with tatale and ripe fried plantains. Those who are asking why palm oil, please don't sleep on it till you have tried it.

Palm oil??? Girl noo!! The sweetness in Bambara beans is in the sugar!!
You put the sugar AFTER cooking it, when you are serving it. It’s the best.👌

The sugar is mostly added after serving, as per the sweetness required from the individual having it ....😊. Thanks for sharing.🤗

Another great recipe. I remember that when i had this beans in Ghana, we didn't have any palm oil added. You made it look so good. Keep doing the great work dear.

We did add palm oil to ours...and momome as well. There was this joint at Len Clay. They used momone and palm oil...it was the bomb😄😄. But I love both ways.

It is actually a groundnut but has been wrongly called beans for a long time. When cooked it is a bit like mexican refried beans but has a stonger and bolder taste and aroma.
