    you should try pre-making the plastic wrap around whatever medium you choose. you can easily tie it off and then make a slit in the plastic that fits right over the cut.

    I always wondered if this was possible on more woody plants. Thanks for the technique!!

    Very helpful! Was the 'garage band' background noise necessary? Sure glad I have a mute button because it was driving me crazy.

    Hello. Is a 6 months old bougainvillea mature enough for air layering? Thanks in advance for your answer 😊

    If I'm simply looking to extend a bougainvillea along a hedgeline, is there a need to cut once the roots develop, or can I layer it and leave it to root and grow, still attached to the original plant? Thanks (I'm talking about regular layering, not air layering, specifically.)

    • @fishmut
      @fishmut 3 года назад

      The whole purpose to air layering a plant is to make a new plant , there is no reason to do it otherwise doesn’t make sense , if you want it to grow along a hedge line just let it be , it will grow or plant another one alone further to fill in a long hedge row. Layering as you call it have no idea what your talking about here .

    • @unclejakemusic
      @unclejakemusic 3 года назад

      @@fishmut Thanks for your thoughts - I was thinking it would be a sturdier/healthier hedge if there are more roots in the ground instead of everything coming from one trunk 30' away (like you said...planting another one, but just not bothering to ever cut it off the parent). Layering is like air layering, except that you secure the shaved section underground rather than wrapping soil around the branch in the air. Same concept, maybe there's also another name for it, I don't know.
