Thankyou for sharing your story . I have hyperacusis and tinnitus .The anxiety it brings on is hell . I'm having sound therapy and just hoping that in time it will subside .
I have a similar story... In October last year I got sick with the flu. I woke up one morning with a bell like ringing in my right ear. Like church bells going off in the far distance. I have had this before when I got the flu or a cold and it always went away after a day, not this time. My ears felt blocked and I kept the faint bell like ringing in my right ear. I thought it would go away after I recovered, but it never has. I only got louder. So so loud. After about 6 months I decided to go to the doctor. My ears were fine, no wax, no inflammation, but a little fluid behind my eardrums. I got some nasalspray (non addictive) and if it hadn't improved after two weeks I needed to come in again. They also told me to pop my ears (pinch nose and blow out of nose). Two weeks later I was back. Checked again and everything was the same as before. They checked my head and ears with a sound fork and all was fine. They advised me to rinse my sinusses with a neti pot and after that the nasal spray and keep popping my ears to open up the eustacian tube. Again for two weeks. Still nothing. One thing changed though. My bell like ringingen gradually changed to a steady beeeeeeep. I can only hear it when it is quit. Night time is hell. I use an app to play rain sounds and that really helps, but it is so frustrating. My ear is still clogged. I feel like I have a bunch of cottonballs in my ear, but my hearings seems fine. I got a cold at the very beginning of september and now my left ear feels clogged and on the night of 10 to 11 september I had a high pitched ringing in my left ear. That is gone now luckily. But my stess levels were of the chart when I heard that ringing. I sometimes have a sharp pain in both ears and feel my heartbeat in my right ear. Very frustrating! 21st of september I have to go to a hearing doctor and really hope they can help!!
I hope the doctor helps. If not I recommed cognetive therapy, as I said in the video, you can learn not to suffer even if the ringing is still there. Good Luck

Brilliant video dude, I've had tinnitus for just over 2 weeks now praying that it goes away. But I don't know we will see . Everything seems really loud now that didn't before like when I bang a knife on a plate it's like painfully loud or when I'm out driving on my motorbike the car and everything seem louder and when i talk my voice seems different to me . Very anxious at the moment, everything you said am going through. Iv read that if it doesn't go by 3 months you have it for good. Good video though been watching a lot of stuff on RUclips
My situation is identical to your. Even the year I got Tinnitus which was 2017 as well. One morning I woke up with a cold and a blocked left ear. I had no pain and I thought nothing of it. Two weeks go by and my ear is still blocked. I start to panic and schedule an appointment with ENT that was a week away. By the time my appointment came around, the blocked ear was more or less resolved but I had a buzz in that ear. I told the ENT and he prescribed steroids but by that time it was too late. I've had tinnitus in that ear since. I suspect it was virus that attacked the inner ear and caused some damage. My hearing in that ear is 5-10% worse now but nothing that causes issues in terms of hearing.
Hi I’ve had a cold and have had ringing doctors said it was Eustation tube dysfunction. Ear feels full of fluid still. My ears are still popping and clicking. It’s my left ear . I’m sure I can’t be the only one. Thank you for this, as been struggling with this. It comes and goes but thank you for this video I really appreciate it
I have exactly the same, any update on it? I have it for half a year already. I do notice lymphe drainage techniques do help a lot, so I have been trying that lately.
Me too! I had a bad virus in February (Covid?) and it’s never gone away. I feel like my head is filled with both air and liquid in my ears. I feel like I need someone to drain it.
Thank you for sharing your experience! I appreciate your advice. I've had it on and off for many years due to working as a firefighter and also 10 years in a loud shop as a mechanic. Only recently I have had a very stressful time it has gotten really bad. I think you helped me figure out how much my stress has really been a big factor for it being so severe. I will try more of the techniques you shared and see professional help with my hyperacusis. I never realized they were related. Cheers my friend!
I have had it for 11 years. I now wear a hearing aid and have pulsatile tinnitus. I listen to white noise or a fan every night. You just have to live with it. Not easy but I go for days not hearing it but then have days when it is hard to deal with. Hyperacussis is hard to deal with too.
Hey, how're ya? I just wanted to share. I had covid some time back and I had what u mentioned, at first it was blocked already for me, then a pop sound, and then a ringing sound. I was worried and thought perhaps it's a covid thing. After 5 days, I went to see a Ear Nose Throat specialist. He didn't say much about my ringing, but he cleansed both sides of my ear with expert tools for $100 per year. It was still ringing then despite the deep cleanse, although the deep cleanse was really good and I could hear much clearer and louder after that. After cleansing my ears he told me if I was very stressed lately, and the answer was yes. He and the audiologist said that stress is a factor that can cause it, though they didn't exactly explain the science. He told me not to focus on it and distract myself. He said the more u focus on it, the more its there. And he told me to get loads of sleep (8 hours a day) and destress a lot by not thinking about work at all. (for me how I destress was exactly opposite, I opened my laptop to clear my emails totally so I could rest with a piece of mind) . So for a few days (1 week) I trained my mind to do other things and ignore it, and it kinda worked. I think there's always a small sound within the ears as normal state. Just don't focus on it, focus on something else, and manage your stress and sleep by having ample quantity of them. Hope it will work for you.
I got it after covid. These things have helped me greatly. Cognitive therapy, medications for sleep and anxiety. Dound therapy and heating aides. I am in a better place 9 months later.
13:50 feel ya brother, your hope that i would google this, worked. Thanks man, what a great use of the internet, and what a great genuine explaination. Thank you.
I habituated easily to high pitched tinnitus in my right ear...later I developed a rumbling roaring tinnitus in my head and I have not been able to habituate to that. It's been 5 years now. I was on some meds for awhile that greatly improved it, then after a year, the meds stopped working and increasing the dose didn't make any difference. I'm back to square one and don't know what to do. I am beginning to suspect I have Eustachian tube dysfunction which can cause rumbling/roaring tinnitus. I’ve had it for a month now. Also a Norwegian. I’m a musician and producer and played drums every day in my youth without hearing protection. And also rehearsals without protection. Anyway, it doesn’t bother me too much anymore. It’s improved like 70% in a month. I use crickets for habituation. The trick is to keep the volume of the masking sound just below the tinnitus. That way, the brain learns to kinda filter it away. It really works. Also, breathing exercises to lower your pulse and anxiety, because the vicious circle of anxiety makes it worse. The tinnitus we get after flu or cold are usually due to eustachian tube dysfunction as the opening of the tube becomes inflamed As time pass if eustachian tube doesn't open even after cold subsides the negative pressure in middle ear can cause eardrum to get retracted over time and this cause hyperacusis for some reason

hey man, i got tinnitus just months after i got covid about 2+ years now and i did a hearing test and my hearing was flawless just like you. but i was lucky to get over it once i knew my hearing is fine and it's just the sound that i have to deal with, it still annoys me but most of the time i only hear it when it's super quiet or when my head on the pillow. but sadly i couldn't know the reason was it covid ? was it flu ? i don't know oh i forgot, it's only my left ear too.
I also have tinnitus from a cold/flu and still suffer greatly from it (it started 5 months ago). It's really great that you've gotten habituated to it. After how long did you start to stop noticing this noise all day long and being able to push it into the background? And now you only hear it once a week or when you consciously want to hear it?
Got mine 2022 after covid .. Yeah the virus destroyed the nerves...ear, cataract in my right eye plus hyperacusis. Everyday is a battle. Fight, fight, fight! After initial stage which was horrible. You have to reset your mind. Acceptance and hopeful that someday there will be at least a reduction. God bless everyone ..to my fellow sufferers.
So sorry to hear that, hope you get better and soon ! Its so weird how tinnitus works, doesnt seem like its always loud noises or hearing damage per say. More of a neurological response.
this happened to me at 73. virus so severe absent fever but congestion displaced my right ear drum. It sounded like a construction site in my head. Three medications resolved the issue and prednisone brought the inflammation down to level where my ear drum self adjusted.ENT said he could manually adjust if it did not do so naturally. Problem is I was left with some form of pulsatile tinnitus which is a almost constant buzzing through my body especially noticeable sitting Of course these morons are clueless and i have thoroughly investigated any other possible causes This year i developed vertigo in the other ear and spent 3 days in hospital 11 weeks and still not entirely resolved. All I can say is i have had all scans and tests but not really a full immune panel and I have had to conclude this is due to ageing. Funny how i never heard my parents or anyone having these difficulties and the ever increasing list of auto immune diseases is a source of anxiety. Never heard of any of them either. I have none of those either as I am medically sophisticated enough to establish through symptom checks if it was a possibility. One neuro suggested a hematologist oncologist. I had a fit no symptoms for any and I told her straight out i would have been dead by now if leudemia, myelomas or lymphomas were present. i give up with these people
Many similarities to my experience but my nose needed surgery. My neck seems stiff did any specific relaxation exercises helped? There are exercises for reducing the ringing if you are interested but don’t focus too much about it.
I went to the same thing more or less. Now I also hear a hum next to the tinnitus, lucky me :) (ruclips.net/video/f3k1Qwx9Y0Q/видео.html) Starting a CBT now advised by my general practice doctor. I still protect my ear from loud noise which I think is normal to do because in traffic it can be quite loud. I fall asleep with an app playing relaxing sounds like you said. Hyperacusis gives me trouble concentrating and hearing things in noisy environment. Thanks for you video, I do have it under control more or less in a way I can enjoy day to day life.
Tinnitus we get after cold or flu are usually due to eustachian tube dysfunction due to infammation around the tube Over time if this eustachian tube doesn't open after flu goes away as a time passes the negative pressure in the middle ear can cause retracted eardrum and it causes hyperacusis like vibrationg sensation u feel when someone talk loud voice
@@veronicagonzalez8847 we need to open that eustachian tube cause it's inflamed and clamped closed which gives us tinnitus and sound sensitivity... Try some eustachian tube opening excercise on youtube .....
How do you make the brain not think about the ringing? Because whenever my brain keeps on looking for the T sound automatically (i just had it for 10 days now 😢). Any advise? I tried to make myself busy all the time, but my brain does multitask by actively looking for the ringing sound
Had covid as soon as i got better here came that death ring. It woke me up out my sleep july 2024. I hear there is a device called Lenire i hope it helps. My ears popped and felted plugged before covid but that deafening ear plug covid gives u made it worse. Id rather be deaf in that ear to hear this mess. Then i read some people can hear it eventhough they are deaf wtf. Has anyone had the steroid shot mixed with an antidepressant into the middle ear. I hear that brought relief for a few. Its methods to provide some relief and im only going to drs that work with newer technology. I have heard that having it in one ear like i do may be an underlying condition i sure hope not. @@tsheringdekar7981 But to answer your question. Not doing well. Started with pulsation tinnitus for a month then that quit. Went along another month or so then a few days ago starting getting a ringing in the ear type of tinnitus. Been a rough process
Yes white noise can help.
Fucking got this from a cold 🥶 right now on week two of hoping it goes AWAY
Are you better or it's stil there?
@@homerovalente idk if it’s now there because of more loud environments or the cold
I hope I can get to your stage thankyou suffering for 4 years now
Thanks for this..I feel like I'm going mental from this noise!!😫😫
I'll pray for you while I pray for myself. ❤
I understand your pain, I'm going through it still after 4 months. 😢 it's very hard and life changing, keep your chin up, you will adapt 😢
hey man, i got tinnitus just months after i got covid about 2+ years now and i did a hearing test and my hearing was flawless just like you. but i was lucky to get over it once i knew my hearing is fine and it's just the sound that i have to deal with, it still annoys me but most of the time i only hear it when it's super quiet or when my head on the pillow.
but sadly i couldn't know the reason was it covid ? was it flu ? i don't know
oh i forgot, it's only my left ear too.
Thank you. Very enlightening.
Muchas gracias, Dios te bendiga!saludos desde Argentina
Got mine 2022 after covid ..
Yeah the virus destroyed the nerves...ear, cataract in my right eye plus hyperacusis.
Everyday is a battle.
Fight, fight, fight! After initial stage which was horrible. You have to reset your mind. Acceptance and hopeful that someday there will be at least a reduction.
God bless everyone ..to my fellow sufferers.
So sorry to hear that, hope you get better and soon ! Its so weird how tinnitus works, doesnt seem like its always loud noises or hearing damage per say. More of a neurological response.
Amazing story, thank you for sharing
this happened to me at 73. virus so severe absent fever but congestion displaced my right ear drum.
Progressive muscle realaxition was a good help for relaxing the muscles in the neck
Thanks for your story! How do you achieved such a perfect english speaking skills?

@@nordicanalog8580 How long did it take you to treat hyperacusis?
Tinnitus we get after cold or flu are usually due to eustachian tube dysfunction due to infammation around the tube
Over time if this eustachian tube doesn't open after flu goes away as a time passes the negative pressure in the middle ear can cause retracted eardrum and it causes hyperacusis like vibrationg sensation u feel when someone talk loud voice
Hi so does it go away? I have upper respiratory infection and only heard the ring once. My ears are clogged but it’s putting pressure on my ears. Help
1)You have to accept it. 2) Don't try to fight it.
How it "went" : the ringing is still there (?) What??
Had covid as soon as i got better here came that death ring. It woke me up out my sleep july 2024. I hear there is a device called Lenire i hope it helps. It started off low sometimes like today its loud and i want to pluck my entire portion of my ear off. It its damaged hairs in the cochlear i want them out. Good luck everyone. I know they say its no cure but if i find some portion of relief i will share with you all. Take care!!

Are you sure your Tinnitus isn't simply caused by loud music? The flu was probably just the final trigger.
Nah bro
Holy cow, that was a long video to realize you haven't solved the problem... and the solution is: just deal with it.
from covid ?
