- Building this DIY tool for my woodworking material handling has made my life so much easier. Buying a system like this can cost thousands of dollars! in this video, I DIY a gantry track system for my Izzy vacuum lift for a small fraction of the cost of expensive store-bought ones.

Izzy, you could use a mitered joint for the transition from one strut to the next to lessen shock by only one roller encountering joint. This has been use on all types of track systems including train rail for decades. I used the same on a set of rolling doors for a dark room with limited space.
You’re not just hanging around! You’re lifting us all up! 👍👍
UNISTRUT makes channels specifically for their trolleys. They are deeper so you can use simple carriage bolts. No need to drillI. I installed 4 channels on ceiling rafters in my garage. If you purchase a unistrut catalog, it’ll give you weight ratios . I put two channels side by side, and combined two trollies to get up to 700 pounds
I think the point was doing it more budget friendly. Unistrut is more expensive
Clever!
@@jgclark45, good point, but I'm pretty sure that Izzy's track is Unistrut. They do offer different dimensional pieces, and the price difference sometimes seems dramatic. I was satisfied using Izzy's approach when I built my lift a couple of years ago, except for needing to rust-proof the drilled holes for exterior use.
Would 4 give me 1400 lbs of lift?
1st I think at some point alot of us older woodworkers need to start thinking about "working smarter, not harder". This is a great system for doing that!!
Cool
Brilliant, Izzy! 😃
You guys did a fantastic job there!
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Great video. Thanks! Also, glad you are still working. You are inspiring.
This is such a great system! Love it! Thanks, Izzy!
Awesome Izzy. Simply awesome! 😉👍
Excellent again Izzy
Well, it looks like they left Izzy hanging! Great work on that track system guys! 👍👍👏👏
Thanks 👍
Wish I'd this idea on my home made wall saw.
Love the hat 😄
Thanks for sharing that!
I liked the video. Thanks.
Your a Genious. Don't have a shop big enough to use the lift, but, I can see it would be nice!
Yeahhhh cool project 👍
Man o man Izzy, wish those hoists would have been around when I was roofing, that would have saved a bunch of peoples backs. Hope you kids are doing well.
This would be an awesome upgrade in my shop. Lifting steel for the plasma CNC is always a pain by myself.
As a wheelchair user, I've seen and used some lift tracks similar to this but, man have you made it cheaper.
Really cool project.
There was a comment on a Dirt Monkey short that mentioned Izzy, Ugh I can't believe I've never heard of this Guy.
8:50 I don't know any other RUclipsr who would be confident enough to do a demo like that, I couldn't hit that Subscribe button fast enough!
@izzy Thanks for sharing this idea. Back in the 90s I had the Bogan rail system made by Manfrotto for my photo studio lighting very similar to this setup . You might want to check it out for more ideas. again thanks for always inspiring and being such an awesome creator.👍
Very cool! i will check it out.
The bogan is nice but much more expensive. In fact I installed a unistrut gantry in my wife’s photo studio to save money!
Thanks for this valuable idea. I think this could be very useful in my shop and a similar setup in my barn.
Questions: what did you use for the end stop on the end of the channel and what did you use for the sliders that held up the cord? I'd love to see more details on that. Thanks.
Good grief man. I had a 650 pound mill delivered a couple days ago and have been trying to figure out how I was going to put it on its base. Perfect timing.
o7
Hang in there ole friend!!!
Good idea 💡
Thank you! Cheers!
Don’t forget about the upgrade sharpener that you mentioned.
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 awesome, plus electrical supply house will have 20' sticks
Nice Izzy I did not know you could buy a trolley for that !
Looks like I'm going to have friends over to build the system.
Izzy,
I ask people does my electric wheelchair make my butt look big? Hahaha thank you sir.
Are you sure the trolley will not pass the screw heads? Your demo showed the trolley and track upside down. When turned over and placed on the ceiling I suspect the trolley will clear.
Man I wished my shop's ceiling wasn't just 7ft high... but then it's only 250sqft so I'm not moving huge workpieces anyway. Still as always impressed with the stuff Izzy comes up with!
,a cool video keep up the great content.. Thank you…..
Thanks for watching!
@@izzyswan Thank you very mutch... have a nice day.... see you….
Thank you
You're welcome
@IzzySwan could you have a welder attach rebar dowels on either side of the track and then bolt the outside dowels into the ceiling instead of screwing through it?
@3:33 One needs to do the calculation based on the span of the screws* holding the channel to the wood, as well as what that wood is attached to. (find the weakest link) Also considers what happens if one screw fails ("zipper" situation).
The connection position of the aluminum groove is connected at an angle of 45 and there will be no obstacle to the reel
Izzy bro u are one crazy bastd.. Ur moobs are hurting? hahahahahaha! U have good ppl round u there too I see so big shoutout to the 2 young ppl who helped build the gantry system. My shop is too small bro but I might look at building a smaller version in the future. It's always good to have some form of lift system in a shop to help lift those bigger tools off the floor when needed.
200 bucks is relatively cheap for the hoist system u bought. I expected it to be more expensive.
that strut can be had in 20ft lenths also
Please correct me if I'm wrong, but it looks like that you were checking the roller clearance on the wrong surface, that is, against the top of the unistrut, when you should have held the roller against the "U" surface to see if it would clear the Screw.
❤
I was wondering what happened to Maggie . Oh ya and like ALWAYS. great build!
Loved the clown car montage 🤣😂
Nice vid but most importantly we all hope your moobs are feeling better.
hahahahahahahahaha thank you they are good now
Izzy you can purchase unistrut at 20 foot lengths
They make it in 20 foot sticks any HVAC pipefitter supply or electrical houses can get it 20 foot links trust me I use tens of thousands of feet
Hombre grande. Linda familia. Bien saludos desde Nicaragua.
Te copiamos, aquí hablamos castellano y Nahual.
I lost it at the moobs comment, lol.
Coo coo
What is the load on each one of those mounting screws?
Dear IZZY, I was watching your vid about the horizontal router, I NOTICED the riving knife on your RIDGID< where can i get one, Please,
Badbehavior
If I had money to burn this would be great!! But, I loved your video's for helping beginners starting out how to make it. I have a one car garage, living from pay check to pay check. And this does nothing to help me.
Cool. Now make videos tools ECT for people who use wheelchairs.
Darn Izzy I was expecting to see one person carry both ends of stock to cut.
This was worth the WEIGHT🙂
hahahaha
👍✌️👏👌💯
Who is Maggie..? Haven't watched in a while
trying to put my daughter out of work at konecrane
I'm in the process of building a new shop and now I have a dilemma. I was originally going to span a monorail I beam down the middle so I can essentially do the same thing you are doing here. While I'm sure this setup is much cheaper, do you see an advantage of your track system over an I beam?
I-beam would be much stronger, but Izzy needed motion in both front-to-back and side-to-side. Your I-beam would need to be on its own gantry if you wanted sideways motion.
hello Mr. Swan, you've alot of cordless drill, if you don't mind can I have it....🙏

Moobs...lol.
You said they are rated for 700l bs Eash. So you do realize that, that means your total lift capacity is 700 lbs and not 700 lbs * 2 as you may have inadvertently implied.
There's a scammer in here replying to almost everyone using your image but the name is a phone #...asks for a text...anyone else report them yet
there is no fing way there is an interest in this to constitute this much content to be dedicated to it...
Too rich fo my blood. I'll wait for when you go back to basic DIY stuff, if not then unsubscribe. This channel used to be good.
