- On a GPS approach, what's the difference between LPV, LNAV/VNAV and LNAV MDA?
Martha explains these, as well as approach design, and how obstacles factor in.
This segment taken from our freshly filmed Instrument Rating Ground School & Test Prep Course. We guarantee you'll pass your written test, or your money back: tinyurl.com/yy5...
I'm a training captain on turbine aircraft. This lady has an excellent way of explaining things which, honestly, I can take notes from. This helps me to revisit the way I explain concepts both on the ground and in the air.
I love Marta the way she is explaining and making it easy to understand.
I remember listening to this lady many years ago when I was training to be a pilot, and the knowledge she provide from these videos helped me through the exams. Her clarity and expression of these complex subjects is unique, and I appreciate the time and trouble she went to sharing her knowledge.
I stumbled on this video today to see she is still presenting many years later. Thank you for making these lessons interesting and fun. 🙏
"Slide down smoothly out of the clouds..." I'll quote you on that. BTW on commercial PAX one of the features of speed brakes to drop out of the sky after passing an obstacle or urban center for noise abetment to get to the RW.
I have fond memories of John and Martha's brilliant tutorials on Microsoft Flight Simulator 2000! 20 years later I'm still simming - not quite graduated into the real world cockpit yet, but always enjoy the clear and well presented instructional videos from King Schools! :)
Damn, I had the exact same thoughts! Boy how time flies! Managed to get my private wings but still fire the SIM up every single day! Safe Landings
I remember your Madeira vid years ago. Now I fly for the regionals
@@gustafpeyron That’s awesome! Hope you’re enjoying it 🙂👍
Same story from my childhood! I'm still simming and now I combine it with a real captain work at Airbus A320:)
I still remember Rob Machado
I dont why, but she draws me in. I can tell shes a OG.
Always the best explanation when it comes to flying, thank you for all you have done.
Cheers Dominic!
Love the Kings!

Best ever video explainers on youtube! Thanks a lot for creating them
Can somebody help me out what are the numbers at the minimum section?
For example, 623-1/2 = 623meters 1/2sm? And 200(200-1/2)?
JS Han if you’re flying in the US, it’s 623 feet and 1/2 sm vis. But you got the gist! 👍🏻
Straight from the FAA - Go to Page 29 - Best and most clear explanations I have found yet:

Wanna be a pilot but cant, have eye condition, sucked at numbers, basically not that bright. but i can understand mostly what you teach, maam! Enjoy watching it. Thank you
azmer azhar I have an eye condition in one eye as well but still was able to get my first class medical after a FAA medical flight test, chase your dreams , you may be surprised
As a CFI-I, I found this video to be highly valuable.

I remember meeting the "Kings" in Lake Havasu City, Arizona in 2002. Great people 👍🇺🇸
Thank you from Algeria !
Welcome!
For further clarification if you please--I'm 'assuming' 623 is ASL and 200 is AGL, correct? You didn't specify this difference. Thank you--still learning.
Why would we use LNAV approach if we can always use LNAV/VNAV (using baro-vnav) ?
I love the kings
Nice summary for GA IFR pilots. Thanks! King = Learn to fly
Thank you madam for these explanations
Thank You for the informative video.
Thanks very much!
Love your videos! Thx!!!
What's the type of gps for LPV approach please ?
You need a GPS which is WAAS/GBAS capable for a LPV approach.
@@luismolon if not equipped ? We carry out a V/L nav or LNav baro vnav that's correct ?
@@mehdi9933 Without WAAS approved GPS you should comply LNAV minima, unfortunately.
This is a very explanatory documentation avaible at FAA's site:

@UCO4VIGmNEL13omWhPEQyfyQ which is a non precision approach
