These are cool but not nearly enough range that I was hoping. So I went with GMRS Pro radios with a repeater. Now I get coverage around my entire town. But it’s always a blessing to get a video from RJ The Great! 💯🔥
I really appreciate the video, great job and exactly what i needed... EXCEPT a link to the antenna! Or do you have a couple you recommend?? Suggest you get an affiliate link to that stubby one, as more people find out about how cool these T-Deck pluses are I'm hoping this blows up in the prepper community as it really ought to
@DavidGawlowski The stubby one is just a stock one I got from one of my meshtastic kits. One of the more popular recommended antennas is Gizont s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_msNU3SM
Nice guide. Strange that they don't have external antenna as standard, seeing though the Plus is the premium model. The internal antenna was really poor on my one.
Is there a trick to getting the satellite to snap into place on the board? I can’t seem to find the right angle unless I’m doing something wrong and I don’t want to force it. I’ve tried coming at from different angles and jiggling it in but it’s just not getting in there. Thanks
Does someone know what GPS module is used in this video?/build in by LilyGO? It looks very custom. This could be a nice way to upgrade the non-Plus T-Deck.
You basically cannot hard brick this device without efuses or 1st stage bootloader overwrite. You should always be able to press down the trackball before reset to reflash.
Thankyou for this video! Recently ordered some antennas that will arrive soon. Going to add an external for GPS aswell in hole #2 :)
This is exactly what I needed!
Thanks!

How are they not enough range when you can get 45 miles stock, your lack of knowledge on networking was the issue.

If your going to open it up you might as well conformal coat it to make it water resistant.

Took me about an hour to get it back together again! =O
Gosh darn reset button plastic!
Mine fell down on the floor. TWICE! I found it, twice, but DAMN i had to look hard. It's tiny 😅

Thanks for this. I was going to do this to my plus and the video is super helpful. How well does the stubby antenna perform for you?
Great video, how about a video how to use it
Did the antenna upgrade improve the signal?

Is this also possible with the gps antenna?
@@sup3ray yes you could put a gps antenna there instead if you wish.
You could install a GPS antenna in the second cut out next to the WiFi one
I don't have a 3D printer can some one make me a case for the 5000mAh battery. 😅
I see many users flashing to fancy UI, I’d prefer to wait a bit before potentially bricking my device. If you have any guides would be grateful.
😂 they are dirt cheap who cares if u brick it

Hi, thanks for the video, can you give me a link to make my device work as APRS, thanks? EA8DQI
