I first got cold sores this year, and my first suppressant medication for it was to take the 2 mg twice a day for *several* days. But now I've got a new doctor who gave me a script for 500mg a day, but I was confused - that's to maintain suppression, but on the first day or so, I knew I needed a higher dose and wanted to be sure I should still do the 2k mg twice a day at least on the first day. Thank you for the science lesson as well! I miss biology class, and it's always fun to learn how things are working to help us inside our bodies!
