As soon as you feel it , hold witch hazel on it on a cotton ball ( or whatever) and it dries it out . I do this and take L-Lysine daily. You can even mash up the L-Lysine tablet and use a tab of water, put it on it after the witch hazel . This makes mine go away instead of going it’s course. Hope it helps.

I notice mine comes when im dehydrated so the 1st thing for me is staying hydrated. 2nd thing is keeping my lips moist with carmex. But when those 2 fail, I've found that if I immediately use turpentine on the irritated area it drys it up and prevents blistering and scalping. It has been recommended by Dr. Huberman to avoid hydrogen peroxide in the mouth so I am assuming the same for on the mouth. I use my hydrogen peroxide now to disinfect surfaces of inanimate objects like toothbrushes.

@@KingStylex3 it won't be a blister, but it will form a bump the next day. However, that bump won't get big and blister open, it'll go away if you keep doing this for 2-3 days. You'll be amazed. And it's practically free.

So I’ve had cold sore outbreaks since I was a kid. I’m 36 now and in the last few years I really haven’t had any. Well Thursday I was really stressed out and on my cheek all of the sudden I had a bunch of little bumps and thought great I’m so stressed I just got a cluster of pimples in one spot. Aciclovir tablets 400 mgs 3 times daily soon as you sense that tinkle It's the best way trust me I've had them for years I even use them for prevention in case I have a wedding holiday etc I just take them a few days before. And no problems

I find the patches work really well as long as you get it right when it starts tingling like immediately. Use as many patches as it takes to cover the sore. It will stop the virus from spreading out so it won't grow as big. Leave the patches on all day and then at night take it off and let the sore dry a bit. Then I take a baby wipe and dab the sore to get any loose crud off lol that sounds gross but meh. Make sure not to touch any other part of your lip with any wipe that touches the sore. Immediately throw it out, don't be folding it to use another area of the wipe. Toss it and get a new one until the area feels pretty clean. Reapply how ever many patches you need and go to sleep. I'm speaking from personal experience so it may not be right for everyone but I've been getting them for over two decades and this is finally what works for me.

As soon as you feel it , hold witch hazel on it on a cotton ball ( or whatever) and it dries it out . I do this and take L-Lysine daily. You can even mash up the L-Lysine tablet and use a tab of water, put it on it after the witch hazel .

L-Lysine mcg 500 mcg supplement every 12 hours for a week. Avoid arginine-rich foods like caffeine and chocolate for 1-2 weeks or until it's gone. Get lots of rest and yes Tylenol. For the itch and pain, I recommend Aveeno Restoration Skin Therapy Itch Relief Balm, it has Pramoxine that gets to the nerve and stops the tingly itch and sharp pain. I hope this helps. I have a cs now and this is how I treat. The second I feel that tingly feel or see a weird white bump near my lips, I pop a L-Lysine 💊 and an Extra Strength Tylenol.

Exercise, get rest, eat well, don't stress the small stuff. Prevention works, trust me. I get them but very rarely now.

I notice mine comes when im dehydrated so the 1st thing for me is staying hydrated. 2nd thing is keeping my lips moist with carmex. But when those 2 fail, I've found that if I immediately use turpentine on the irritated area it drys it up and prevents blistering and scalping. I rarely have breakouts now and I credit these methods I practice. I hope you find what works for you soon. I know how embarrassing cold soars are!

One other thing I know is L-Lysine. I found out about it in a medical book years ago. A friend recommended hydrogen peroxide. Thank you for these great tips. It has been recommended by Dr. Huberman to avoid hydrogen peroxide in the mouth so I am assuming the same for on the mouth.

It takes about 2 or 3 days of doing this, I often don't do it every 2 hours, but usually 4-6 times per day. I wash my hands then use my finger to apply as you really want to hit it good, it should drip off your lip for a second or two. This was life-changing for me, hope it works for you too!

So I’ve had cold sore outbreaks since I was a kid. I’m 36 now and in the last few years I really haven’t had any. Well Thursday I was really stressed out and on my cheek all of the sudden I had a bunch of little bumps and thought great I’m so stressed I just got a cluster of pimples in one spot. It hurt to the touch which I thought was strangled but I went about my day and by bedtime it was really red. The next morning is when I realized it was a cold sore because it had that all too familiar crusty and oozing yellow stuff. So I googled cold sores on face not mouth and sure enough you can get them anywhere and your nose is common as well. I had no idea and I was freaking out, it grew in area by Friday night and now I’m using abreva for the first time and it isn’t helping and covering it with a bandage when I go out because it’s the most hideous cold sore I’ve seen in my life. It’s the size of a quarter and is really bumpy and angry red looking. So hopefully one of the remedies in the comments works because I can’t look like I do on Xmas.

I find the patches work really well as long as you get it right when it starts tingling like immediately. Use as many patches as it takes to cover the sore. It will stop the virus from spreading out so it won't grow as big. Leave the patches on all day and then at night take it off and let the sore dry a bit. Then I take a baby wipe and dab the sore to get any loose crud off lol that sounds gross but meh. Make sure not to touch any other part of your lip with any wipe that touches the sore. Immediately throw it out, don't be folding it to use another area of the wipe. Toss it and get a new one until the area feels pretty clean. Reapply how ever many patches you need and go to sleep. I'm speaking from personal experience so it may not be right for everyone but I've been getting them for over two decades and this is finally what works for me.

I've tried the ice cube trick and I feel like it makes it so much worse! Every single time I use it about 5 minutes after taking it off, my cold sore will be like 3Xs more painful then it originally does. I've tried sticking with it anyways the last few cold sores I had and it didn't lessen the amount of time at all.
I never considered ACV though. I could see that helping dry it out at bit.
Use garlic. AVC will not work at all .....if anything, it will irritate the area further. Rubbing a small piece of cut up garlic, on the other hand, dries out ( reduces) the sore thickness, within a day, much like acyclovir prescription cream does. Worked for me, cut the healing time in half. Just wait a few days longer before peeling the scab. Saves money on prescription creams.

Hizenbird I would say once it has dried up get a new one. I get cold sores once or twice a year and I don’t switch my toothbrush because it isn’t that serious to me but I NEVER use chapstick over it
Why not just boil the toothbrush?
