I had a chat with a chap I work with during the week and as a very accomplished drummer he said that this particular performance from Dave A was the biggest influence on his style.
Mccready was great in this track but was at his best 100% in mad season so was layne. Dont get me wrong pearl jam and alice in chains are great but those two played better together away from them.

I'm glad I didn't leave this world without really listening to Eddie and the rest of these incredible musicians.
Them and Alice in Chains. IMO almost the only unplugged performances worth mentioning. STP was good too but just not quite there. Nirvana's wasn't even technically unplugged and they weren't even their songs for the most part

I was 10 when this Unplugged came out. I was raised in a strict religious conservative household surrounded by ignorance and misogyny. Seeing Eddie write “PRO CHOICE” on his arm, on the biggest music show on tv at the time, when he could’ve written literally anything else, changed my life as a female. I have children that are nearly grown now, but I have never stopped fighting for women’s right to control their own bodies. Thank you Eddie, you may not know how much of an impact you had with that one little act, but it meant a lot to a lot of girls/women.

What a joy to rediscover this after 30 years. Eddie losing his marbles, Dave's solid drumming, Jeff's consistent bassline, Mike's massively underrated guitar work, Stone's rhythm keeping everything on track. A complete performance.
Watched this live when it aired on MTV. This performance was absolutely earth moving. In my opinion the best unplugged they aired, and why it took so long for them to release it on media to the public is beyond me. So much feeling, so much power, so much intensity.

We had it so f*in good, you have no idea. This was on Friday night, and my friends and I watched it. Then we played Magic:TG while listening to Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, STP, you name it. And we thought it was just how life was; not like we were living in a Golden Age.
Such a fucking honor to be coming of age at the same moment this flash of brilliance reached its apex. We are a small and distinct group. And you only really know if you were there to feel it as it was happening. I crowd surfed off my grandmother's coffee table into a sea of nothingness the first time this aired on MTV.

The intensity of eddie vedder at the end is what distinguishes Pearl Jam from the other grunge bands. During live shows they were untouchable.
