Man! This is the real deal. Music played not for fame nor fortune but for the sheer joyous high of playing it to people who jump onboard and take a ride with you. Even though Pinkpop probably is a milestone, a confluence of events and energy, and has the songs we all came to love PJ for, they still are making great new music today but I'm just so glad such videos as this exist for all to see what music is really all about and where it really comes from.... and Dave, superlative drumming... hope this still gives you chills.
Pearl Black In all fairness I think you may have taken QueensRock too literally since I doubt it is an expression of hatred. It's just a (rather common, and commonly teenage male) inarticulate way of saying "no contest" in his not so humble opinion of course. Since music is about flavors and taste, judging musicians of even remotely similar ability, is still like saying. "Fuck apples. Oranges, dude!" There is simply no merit to the argument itself. Consider for a moment The Beatles. Ringo is no high water mark in drumming but his drumming is an integral part of Beatles sound which demanded simplicity and timing over speed and complexity. Imagine The Beatles with Elvin Jones, or Neal Pert, for example. Would The Beatles have made better music? I don't think so, but that's primarily a subjective view and Art is so personal and intimate, that subjectivity is really what it's all about, even though that, too is just my opinion. :)
Pearl Black No and i'm all for Matt in Soundgarden, but PJwise Matt DO NOT belong here, never did...I'm just dreaming though, the PJ i loved is loong gone so,nevermind.
QueensRock Too bad you're stuck there, Brah. They still make great music today. I agree there is something special about the (sort of) original lineup but part of that is what we bring to it, blown away by the newness in a special Time and Space. It's kinda like you only get one chance at a first impression. That's a cliche for a reason.
Brian lore I'm with you. I hear you. Authenticity is our greatest depleted natural resource. But it exists & so do people who value it. It's not just you.
Usually, I hate it when artists change their songs live. But, I have to say, that thing Eddie does at 6:20 is fuckin' perfect. He does it on all live performances and it makes the song even better!
GOAT! 🏆🐐Eddie Vedder wins the crowd! Entire Band 🔥for this finale! When Stone Gossard hops; I hop. When Eddie jumps; I jump. PJ 1992 PinkPop. 23 years later- I never will find a BetterBand! ⚡️
God I miss rock n roll like this.....from the heart ...no holds barred.....thanks for this reminder that there is still hope for real music in this world!
In my darkest times I turn to Pearl jam Eddie. Like alot bands I have as true medicine. Love them for they are the way the light. To bring us up from our knees and fight another day. God bless you all
dam did i get kicked (to the head!)& pushed to that song, live, back then.. there was this dance called 'trash'.. jumping around bouncing off each other :o ..it got pretty chaotic lol.
2:52 - 3:59 Eddie, if my Mom was your Mom and she ever saw you jump off a camera crane into the crowd like that, I swear to god she would definitely be PISSED!!! How I shit you not. 😂
5:00 qué subidón que te siga toda esa basca dando palmitas y que no se quiten cuando te les arrojas encima to sudao...yo me quedo solo cantando el cumpleaños feliz :)
Heard they were all on Coke during that performance! And that they all went to rehab after! Not sure how far that's true though! Insane show, nonetheless!!
I think so yeah. I know Eddie played with Soundgarden quite a bit and Chris Cornell played with PJ a lot. Also the current PJ drummer Matt Cameron used to be from Soundgarden
Lucky enough to be young enough to of been part of this bitchen time I never get tried of Eddie vedder and I think he's 100% real man. Have u watched twenty? I'd like to say thank you to my ex boyfriend one good thong he did is show me this he's from Holland anyways song is for Ben always love u karen
Thats probably the best way I've ever heard it put, after like 10 years straight of PJ being my favorite band of all time. Congratulations and thank you 🤜🤛
I started listening to pearl Jam on an old mixed tape a cousin had. from small town in northern Cape Breton music and life itself was a little behind but one day when I was 20 years old I discovered two tickets for their show in mtl were being sold. I immediately called the guy paid him the 125 and headed out to mtl via train. I can say 100 % without a doubt it was the best 125 bucks I ever spent. Pearl Jam is a band that gives it's listeners a story better then any other imo. Eddie Vedder voice is so powerful and has a way of speaking to your soul as if the songs was written for u. amazing band
@GBRmond i was there man , in that crowd ! discovering pearl jam . we were drenched by rain , cold , tired but they came to revive the crowd incredibly !
There will never be another band like Pearl Jam. Truly the greatest.
+Deadline Music I cannot wait to see them live this May!
Awesome! Im going to Wrigley Field for the August show.
+Deadline Music I went to the one in Jacksonville this year, I'm glad to see that they still have the same energy that they had 20+ years ago
i fucken hope so.
Me too. But aint gonna happen.
