‘15 days or no deal’ is the reason why I feel a sense of trust when watching your channel. ‘Views’ and ‘Balance’ are so well put together. I know how Shumi and Karthik sir always advise taking a test ride, but when I watch them review cars and bikes I’ve already experienced, they are always spot on, and I can trust them blindly.

I Feel there is need of Part 2 of this and I got some following questions. 1) Best and Worst Experience at the companies you worked: Don't name the company but just experiences at all the places you worked. 2) Biggest thing you both had to Unlearn during your career. could be a technique of riding or speaking etc etc. 3) Best car and bike of your dreams: Meaning you make up a hypothetical bike and car which would have so and so features for eg lets say Himalyan bike with duke 390 engine. 4) What you miss about automotive journalism of old days that is completely gone now and what are the things that used to happen back then and it died but now in today's time its getting back traction. 5) best advice/learning/criticism you both got from the viewers of the videos. 6) A bike and car for which you were excited but it disappointed you and also a bike and car which just wowed you both. 7) Commerce of Automotive Journalism: How the financial things have changed as before you both were employees and now you both are having the control over what to do. Hope my questions are not so stupid.. Sorry if they are ridiculous.

Ah Shumi's mention of Bijoy and BSM brings back so many memories of reading that absolute zinger of an automotive magazine. The best there was. Bijoy, Shumi, Srini, Joshua, Pablo (and a few others whose names escape me right now) injected their unique personalities into their respective pieces and so each issue felt part of a shared universe, and not just a stand-alone numbers-heavy info-mag. As a reader, I would like to give a shoutout to Bijoy's editorial skills here. He somehow imbued this monthly automotive magazine with the community-driven vibes of a weekly newsletter. I don't know if he knew it back then but Bijoy was onto a really super cool formula - when you make the mag about more than just the machines, the issues acquire this timeless quality about them - you might not go back to a magazine for a review of an old model done in the bylanes of Mumbai, but you might just want to revisit the writer's existential take on moving to the maximum city. Post this comment, I will try to find scans of the old issues (my print collection was lost years ago while I moved cities ), if anyone from MotorInc has any leads those would be highly appreciated.
I agree...that magazine "BS Motoring" had also created the RD clubs...I was one of the original members of the "Pune Carbs", the club in Pune, 2001, being the oldest member there, with the longest owned RD there.. :D
I couldn't agree with you more 👍I still remember his editorial piece of his 15+hours Mumbai to Goa trip on a Royal Enfield with his wife riding pillion.The humour and his descriptive writing made it a delightful read. I eagerly awaited his articles , it brought a smile to my face 🙂even now as I type this comment reminiscing of that write up.
What Shumi spoke about instant gratification is true and I'm guilty of it. Motorinc actually motivated me so much that I decided to write a book about motorcycles. Not anything spectacular oru serious but just the basics of motorcycling, who should choose what and how one should go about riding one. Man I heavily underestimated the effort that went into creating a piece like it. You really have to be in love with the process to get things done. Passively knowing about motorcycles is one thing and actively searching for information, bending it and spending actual intellectual power on analysing it and presenting it is a different ball game. Even though I loved some of it, the effort that was required to pull that off really made me doubt if it was worth it, especially since I'm preparing for competitive examinations. Maybe I'll complete it someday maybe I won't. But that simple exercise brought a completely new perspective to learning and also your profession. I'll send you both a copy each if I ever complete it. 😂
I am an Old Customer, It was 2003 or 05 I was In school and I used to read The Last four Pages of the Magazine where the specs of All the Cars and Bikeswere mentioned in a List. It was Informative and I use to know How many Horsepower and CC Evey Car or Bike Made. Later I Remember one Article On an Autocar or Overdrive Magazine where there was a review of a Car may be an suv like Pagero or Ford Endeavour first generation Or something where the Journalists were making a Review of the Vehicle and Going to Shumi's Mirriage, and there was one picture of a Plate with two Gulab Jamuns on it.
As someone who has started their RUclips journey just this week, it was awesome to hear about both of your experiences as a rookie! How most of us would start off today is very different from this, but it's nice to know what to look out for and where our sights should be set. You guys have been the best influence ever!
There’s a line that Shumi said from an earlier podcast about this very topic of Automotive Journalism during his PD days. I forgot what the exact wordings were but it goes something along the lines of “when you wake up, you shouldn’t regret or hate the job you signed up for” and that has been a guiding principle for me in life. And this field of journalism with its vibrant characters is the reason why I took up Journalism in my undergraduate. I’m in my final year. Will I end up in Journalism? Maybe not. Do I want to? After spending a month in an internship with a legacy newspaper’s sports column? Maybe not. It’s not for me. I do not see a possibility where this passion of mine can depend on Journalism as my profession. Also, I do not want to be in a cycle where my passion becomes a chokehold over me. But that experience has been valuable for me. So, thank you for that, I guess. PS:- my mom always told me during college admissions that a passion and profession tying together is almost impossible. Now, I understand her point better after spending 2.5 years in college :)

For me this channel keeps my enthusiasm for motorbikes alive, without spending hours on the internet. I listen to MotorInc, then go to the showroom and ride the motorcycle. Now I know , understand and experience bikes that are in my country. Thank you.
The last 10 minutes are serious career advice not just for automotive journalism but everything in the professional world. There was this trend for the last few years but post-COVID its just gone to the next level. Everywhere you look, and this actually scares the $#!t out of me. 1 recession or 1 broad-based downturn in the markets and we will have riots on the street, thats how fickle we have become. Sorry about the rant, but as usual great start to a Saturday, thanks to MotorInc.

No where in the whole RUclips world we will be able to find such a heart warming conversation between 2 hard core Automobile enthusiast which feels our own heart and mind with a beautiful concoction of all the experience they had in their life and automotive journey (in a nutshell). The conversation is so natural and organic. Visiting down the memory lane is always a cherishing experience. Really liked wathcing this video and enjoyed the smiles and giggles of you both. Most important quality i notice is that both allow each other to finish their story and listen patiently with least interruption, which is rare. Felt like that the convesation was between two friends passionate about bikes rather than a video shot for viewers. Hope, one day, i could also share some of my motorcycling experience with people.

Main reason for me watching MotorInc is the content being so pure and non biased about what Kartikeya and Shumi review, and the content concludes with for who the vehicle is instead of being a question of "buy or don't buy?".👍

One suggestion, it'll be wonderful if you guys can include some pictures/ videos of the experiences while talking about it. And like always it was a great episode :)
Could you do an episode on the different types of consumables and their relevance? For example branded fuels there is so much confusion whether to go for them, then there are fuel additives, different types of filters in air, fuel, various grades of brake fluids are they interchangeable, varieties of brake pads, regular air vs nitrogen etc. It's a vast topic but considering the options available and polarising opinions your take might prove helpful.

I am a passionate rider since 20 years. Am in the process to become an Automative journalist as a late career heartly choice. This connect hit me at the right time and right place.. Wish I would have started along with you as I have started Same time in a desk job which fueled my Passion for bikes, cars, nature & wildlife photograaphy. In the sea of creators am wandering as a lone wolf to create a difference.
I loved how vulnerable Shumi seemed here. Generally he has this matter-of-fact voice, roasting everyone left right center. But here, when sharing his stories of past, he seemed so relatable. Loved this side of the presenters and the format. I am up for listening more of non-auto related topics with these (life/ philosophy etc.)
When shumi talked about the distinction of passion and profession I was like finally someone said it. You can use your profession to pursue your passion and it's absolutely fine. We have created a notion of saying that you won't be happy if your passion doesn't align with your profession, but I beg to differ and what he told was a fine piece of advice ; do what you do and turn that to fuel for doing what you love.
Didn't know I needed to hear this, currently in a situation where I earn well and that leaving the job and pursuing content creation is very tempting.. but I realize that content creation needs a lot of work, whereas doing what I do and have money to enjoy my bike and light touring is what I enjoy more..
“Your passion and your profession don’t have to coincide.” It’s funny how the best part of this video (solely in my not-so-important opinion) comes right at the end. What Shumi says here is so vitally important for all of us to understand, especially those of us in our late 20s and early 30s, who are approaching the middle of the beginning of our careers. I say this, because this is the stage in our lives where we’ve been doing what we’ve been doing (professionally) for long enough to understand if we’re really passionate about what we’re doing or if we’re just really good at what we’re doing and know our passion(s) lie(s) elsewhere. Very reassuring to hear this, if only to realign priorities and truly enjoy the job and every thing that comes after.
Kartikeya’s mention of Auto Expo of (good) old times brought back fond memories….I remember dad booking his tickets for Delhi, Pragati Maidan and I would eagerly wait for his return, anticipating (rightly so!) magazines and brochures he would get. The centre spreads from the magazines and select brochures (like at the launch of Kinetic Honda) would then adorn our bedroom walls…sigh! Good ol’ times!!
Truly it took me 2 days to finish this entire video,and this has given me massive insights and a base view of where should i start,i feel its all about collecting experiences and being bonded with the machine and then pass on views ,i will try my best in this journey,i mark this comment as start of my true learning of automotive journalism,Thank you ,As Sir Kartikey said to find someone to learn from ,Motor inc is the better option for now.i will fuel my passion of automotive jr with my profession ❤

It is always a pleasure to listen to you guys talk about life advice. I hope every one of us who is listening absorbs at least some bits from this podcast. - The point about putting in the hours at the beginning is perhaps one of the most overlooked aspects of careers today. Pursuit of instant gratification is probably the biggest hindrance in achieving our dreams. I feel like I got lucky in my life because I never had the means to gratify myself without having first earned the money to buy stuff. Boy does it keep my credit card spend in control now! - Another fantastic piece has been about the merging of passion and career and I wholly agree with the idea that it’s better to have them separated because when your career gets to you, you have your passion to let off some steam; what do you do when both are the same? You can’t leave one for the other. A lot of times, the highlight of my days staying late at work was the fact that I’m going to get empty roads going back home! - Lots more to unpack, going to rewatch this one in a few weeks again!

Amit Chhangani's review of Honda Jazz, almost a decade and half ago, is what got me to appreciate what you guys do. Absolutely adored his coverage. That review for me is the benchmark. Still remember it and gave me such a familiarity with the machine that when I were to acquire my first car, I knew off the bat what I wanted. Pitted the brio (shortest stroke) against polo (longest stroke) and despite knowing it would a whole lot more work in town, but that familiarity tilted me in favour of the high revving one over the stronger low end one. Still have the brio, and adoring it still.
Takeaways from this 1) There can always be too much of something. 2) Pictures can tell a hundred words. But sometimes capture neither the moments leading upto nor after it. 3) Sometimes it's the little things in life that matter. 4) Good things happen to those who wait, watch and learn 5) Kids these days 6) Point and shoot beats phone.. (especially if you drive a humvee) I am now getting closer to my mid thirties and don't want to get into automotive journalism because I have a fair idea on how much I DON'T know.. The limit of my skill is that I can get the pegs on the ground on a few bikes and can ride through Bengaluru traffic without needing to put my foot down, slam the brakes or even honk for an extended period of time (both on my modded inty as well as Xpulse Pro). Have owned and driven quite a few vehicles over the last several years but it always amazes me how good pro riders can be and then I realise I am nowhere near that skill : ) I'm just happy consuming this long form content you guys put out every now and then, I started paying more attention to your channel because I find most of both your opinions matching what I get when I try the corresponding machine.
Just an out-there suggestion, I think it'll be really fun if you guys ever decided to have a segment where we chip in and share a photo that encapsulates our joy of motoring. The photo can be of anything - any view, any vehicle they saw or maybe one of their own vehicles. It'll be really cool to share our one common passion with others! Can be a good season-end episode of ThisConnect, where we share our most profound and powerful memories / stories, and you share the best ones!

I have started following @motorinc recently only and the quality of content you guys are putting out here is incredibly good!! I personally am learning a lot of stuffs on how to be a better motorcyclist and a better person from all your content!! One recent example is how I was able to help out a person who crashed using your tips and being calm in that situation. Kudos to the whole team and looking forward for all the new contents!!

I started reading auto magazines form 1992/3 with autoIndia. I was subscriber of all auto magazines. September 98 was launch of overdrive and it was ahead of all it terms of printing quality. Good old days 😊
Got to know this channel, Shumi and Kartikeya clearly demonstrate everytime how knowledgeable they are in the field. Infact Shumi's video is the reason I considered the KTM Duke 250 for a test ride. Guess what, booked it yesterday after having the time of my life on the test ride. Everything these people said, the linear power band, the bit extra sensitive quick shifter, the nature if the bike, everything checked out. This channel is pure Gold

So basically what you guys have done in MotorInc is bring the print media kind of process into video and video review process... That's a main reason for me to like your channel more than others. Now that i think about it... i haven't seen any other auto-channels after I started watching this channel. I have stopped looking at the specs of a vehicle too much and learning so much more than other times. Now i am sure i am going to use this knowledge i gain from you guys in some of my future talks or projects or anything worthwhile i do in my life.

As if I'm binging a documentary. Well laid out. What I always liked about both of you is the fact that Not only do you present the Good values and the Bad values but Ya'll never forget to Put a Pun Here and There regarding some of your awkward and weird experiences. I remember first watching you kartikeya sir in autocar india, and watching shumi sir's review for Apache 180 abs at odmag. It was 2011- 12. Ever since then I have been a great admirer of your work. Amazing discussion as always ❤. I really wanted to know how difficult it is to be a auto journalist.... and I could really understand it from this video. I don't know whether it's a coincidence or not but about a month ago I was doing a lot of research on the versys 650 and I saw Shumi's video in overdrive where he compares the versys 650 with the tiger 800. It was an amazing one. And the other coincidence is... a close frnd of mine was searching for a second hand car in the market and he got a deal of a Toyota Corolla altis at an attractive price of 6lakh. I had never seen the review of a corolla. And the 1st review I saw was of Kartikeya where he was driving the corolla in Autocar. Amazing 😁😁❤️
@@motorinc The time it took to get used to the business, the rigorous training that we used to have back in the day (contextualize it with how much it has diluted over time), how we moved from a purely implementation role, to tactical, and now into a mix of everything, including strategic. In 20 years, we've had to rewrite the playbook a few times over just to be able to stick with the realities of the times.
Loved the last 2 sections where you spoke about the way auto journalism has changed, and about passion and profession. We can become good at anything actually if we put our minds and work into it. It's been my own takeaway, since I had plans to get into auto engineering and ended up in accounting.
It's really hard hitting, the way you mentioned passion and profession. Sadly, most people will realise it only after trying to marry two. And most of them will never realise it because they have only seen 3 Idiots, and have never tried it in real.

OMG 😱 Yamaha FZ16 was Shumis 1st video at overdrive. I wish I could see it today and know what your review was, as I have had that bike with me since 2009. Just booked Bajaj Speed 400 because when it comes to handling, it's literally on par with FZ16 but much more power n equipment. This was a nice Jog down the memory lane getting to know some stories about certain things that I read about in the Mag and some that I recall watching on tv. I cannot believe how much I enjoyed it by the end of it cos when it started and Shumi said Stories, I was skeptical if I would like it or not. Hats off to you both. The combined experience and story telling skills of you both won me over. Also, I 100% agree with Shumi about his answer to being an Automotive Journalist in today's time. Today's gen just wants instant gratification and they will make video's on high end machinery to get likes and watch time. I have seen this on Instagram. Suggestion of topic for next discussion, if I may, the current gen 2 wheeler proprietary LED lamps on how underpowered they are and absolutely useless.

I was cleaning my room the other day and found few of my old magazines , most of them are from Bike India , Overdrive and autoX. One of them is BS motoring , Nov 2013 edition . One the cover page it has BMW M5, Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG and Audi S6 with a title "Ballistic missiles ". In also has the og RE Continental gt review . Ah ..it brings back so many memories ❤️

I am a motorcycle guy, so for domestic bikes I had subscripted to all the major outlets on youtube. Any every video was more or less the same and left like a ad for a bike, with all those fancy shot and music. I soon grew tierd of it. I am glad that motor Inc takes their time to give us a detailed account of the motoring expereince while rest are in that rat race. Thank you.

I used to have a note with photos of bikes and cars, where I personally wrote their specs and included images I collected from newspapers and magazines. I remember having a photo of the Apache RTR 160 (2012) in it, and whenever I went to sleep, I looked at it and thought, WHAT THE HELL IS THAT!!!!
It is a pain and a pleasure to know that you guys will continue to be a two man team. Pleasure because I know the quality and consistency of the content will continue to remain high and there will be no dilution to this. I can not write about these, I never did journalism, I follow channels like Motorinc and be a subscriber. a 30 Male. Had an interest in automobiles as it was my specialization in college days (Btech). but the journalism in myself did not flourish. Car reviewing is not that easy as well. These days there are so many advanced techs inside a car cabin that I sometimes feel overwhelmed. May be in future I might try (and fail may be LOL). You guys are the inspiration.

I Feel there is need of Part 2 of this and I got some following questions.
1) Best and Worst Experience at the companies you worked: Don't name the company but just experiences at all the places you worked.
2) Biggest thing you both had to Unlearn during your career. could be a technique of riding or speaking etc etc.
3) Best car and bike of your dreams: Meaning you make up a hypothetical bike and car which would have so and so features for eg lets say Himalyan bike with duke 390 engine.
4) What you miss about automotive journalism of old days that is completely gone now and what are the things that used to happen back then and it died but now in today's time its getting back traction.
5) best advice/learning/criticism you both got from the viewers of the videos.
6) A bike and car for which you were excited but it disappointed you and also a bike and car which just wowed you both.
7) Commerce of Automotive Journalism: How the financial things have changed as before you both were employees and now you both are having the control over what to do.

Ah Shumi's mention of Bijoy and BSM brings back so many memories of reading that absolute zinger of an automotive magazine. The best there was. Bijoy, Shumi, Srini, Joshua, Pablo (and a few others whose names escape me right now) injected their unique personalities into their respective pieces and so each issue felt part of a shared universe, and not just a stand-alone numbers-heavy info-mag. As a reader, I would like to give a shoutout to Bijoy's editorial skills here. He somehow imbued this monthly automotive magazine with the community-driven vibes of a weekly newsletter. I don't know if he knew it back then but Bijoy was onto a really super cool formula - when you make the mag about more than just the machines, the issues acquire this timeless quality about them - you might not go back to a magazine for a review of an old model done in the bylanes of Mumbai, but you might just want to revisit the writer's existential take on moving to the maximum city. Post this comment, I will try to find scans of the old issues (my print collection was lost years ago while I moved cities ), if anyone from MotorInc has any leads those would be highly appreciated.
I agree...that magazine "BS Motoring" had also created the RD clubs...I was one of the original members of the "Pune Carbs", the club in Pune, 2001, being the oldest member there, with the longest owned RD there.. :D

I couldn't agree with you more 👍I still remember his editorial piece of his 15+hours Mumbai to Goa trip on a Royal Enfield with his wife riding pillion.The humour and his descriptive writing made it a delightful read.
I eagerly awaited his articles , it brought a smile to my face 🙂even now as I type this comment reminiscing of that write up.
What Shumi spoke about instant gratification is true and I'm guilty of it.
Motorinc actually motivated me so much that I decided to write a book about motorcycles. Not anything spectacular oru serious but just the basics of motorcycling, who should choose what and how one should go about riding one.
Man I heavily underestimated the effort that went into creating a piece like it. You really have to be in love with the process to get things done. Passively knowing about motorcycles is one thing and actively searching for information, bending it and spending actual intellectual power on analysing it and presenting it is a different ball game. Even though I loved some of it, the effort that was required to pull that off really made me doubt if it was worth it, especially since I'm preparing for competitive examinations.
Maybe I'll complete it someday maybe I won't. But that simple exercise brought a completely new perspective to learning and also your profession.
I'll send you both a copy each if I ever complete it. 😂

I am an Old Customer, It was 2003 or 05 I was In school and I used to read The Last four Pages of the Magazine where the specs of All the Cars and Bikeswere mentioned in a List. It was Informative and I use to know How many Horsepower and CC Evey Car or Bike Made. Later I Remember one Article On an Autocar or Overdrive Magazine where there was a review of a Car may be an suv like Pagero or Ford Endeavour first generation Or something where the Journalists were making a Review of the Vehicle and Going to Shumi's Mirriage, and there was one picture of a Plate with two Gulab Jamuns on it.

There’s a line that Shumi said from an earlier podcast about this very topic of Automotive Journalism during his PD days. I forgot what the exact wordings were but it goes something along the lines of “when you wake up, you shouldn’t regret or hate the job you signed up for” and that has been a guiding principle for me in life. And this field of journalism with its vibrant characters is the reason why I took up Journalism in my undergraduate. I’m in my final year. Will I end up in Journalism? Maybe not. Do I want to? After spending a month in an internship with a legacy newspaper’s sports column? Maybe not. It’s not for me. I do not see a possibility where this passion of mine can depend on Journalism as my profession. Also, I do not want to be in a cycle where my passion becomes a chokehold over me. But that experience has been valuable for me. So, thank you for that, I guess.
PS:- my mom always told me during college admissions that a passion and profession tying together is almost impossible. Now, I understand her point better after spending 2.5 years in college :)

Could you do an episode on the different types of consumables and their relevance? For example branded fuels there is so much confusion whether to go for them, then there are fuel additives, different types of filters in air, fuel, various grades of brake fluids are they interchangeable, varieties of brake pads, regular air vs nitrogen etc. It's a vast topic but considering the options available and polarising opinions your take might prove helpful.

When shumi talked about the distinction of passion and profession I was like finally someone said it. You can use your profession to pursue your passion and it's absolutely fine. We have created a notion of saying that you won't be happy if your passion doesn't align with your profession, but I beg to differ and what he told was a fine piece of advice ; do what you do and turn that to fuel for doing what you love.

Didn't know I needed to hear this, currently in a situation where I earn well and that leaving the job and pursuing content creation is very tempting.. but I realize that content creation needs a lot of work, whereas doing what I do and have money to enjoy my bike and light touring is what I enjoy more..

It’s funny how the best part of this video (solely in my not-so-important opinion) comes right at the end. What Shumi says here is so vitally important for all of us to understand, especially those of us in our late 20s and early 30s, who are approaching the middle of the beginning of our careers. I say this, because this is the stage in our lives where we’ve been doing what we’ve been doing (professionally) for long enough to understand if we’re really passionate about what we’re doing or if we’re just really good at what we’re doing and know our passion(s) lie(s) elsewhere.
Very reassuring to hear this, if only to realign priorities and truly enjoy the job and every thing that comes after.

The point about putting in the hours at the beginning is perhaps one of the most overlooked aspects of careers today. Pursuit of instant gratification is probably the biggest hindrance in achieving our dreams. I feel like I got lucky in my life because I never had the means to gratify myself without having first earned the money to buy stuff. Boy does it keep my credit card spend in control now!

Another fantastic piece has been about the merging of passion and career and I wholly agree with the idea that it’s better to have them separated because when your career gets to you, you have your passion to let off some steam; what do you do when both are the same? You can’t leave one for the other. A lot of times, the highlight of my days staying late at work was the fact that I’m going to get empty roads going back home!

Amit Chhangani's review of Honda Jazz, almost a decade and half ago, is what got me to appreciate what you guys do. Absolutely adored his coverage. That review for me is the benchmark. Still remember it and gave me such a familiarity with the machine that when I were to acquire my first car, I knew off the bat what I wanted. Pitted the brio (shortest stroke) against polo (longest stroke) and despite knowing it would a whole lot more work in town, but that familiarity tilted me in favour of the high revving one over the stronger low end one. Still have the brio, and adoring it still.

I am now getting closer to my mid thirties and don't want to get into automotive journalism because I have a fair idea on how much I DON'T know..
The limit of my skill is that I can get the pegs on the ground on a few bikes and can ride through Bengaluru traffic without needing to put my foot down, slam the brakes or even honk for an extended period of time (both on my modded inty as well as Xpulse Pro).
Have owned and driven quite a few vehicles over the last several years but it always amazes me how good pro riders can be and then I realise I am nowhere near that skill : )
I'm just happy consuming this long form content you guys put out every now and then, I started paying more attention to your channel because I find most of both your opinions matching what I get when I try the corresponding machine.

The first magazine that l bought was Indian Auto Journal of July 1986 issue.
I have practically read all the magazines and I am still reading.
I have started following @motorinc recently only and the quality of content you guys are putting out here is incredibly good!!
I personally am learning a lot of stuffs on how to be a better motorcyclist and a better person from all your content!!
One recent example is how I was able to help out a person who crashed using your tips and being calm in that situation.

I started reading auto magazines form 1992/3 with autoIndia. I was subscriber of all auto magazines. September 98 was launch of overdrive and it was ahead of all it terms of printing quality. Good old days 😊

Amazing discussion as always ❤. I really wanted to know how difficult it is to be a auto journalist.... and I could really understand it from this video.
I don't know whether it's a coincidence or not but about a month ago I was doing a lot of research on the versys 650 and I saw Shumi's video in overdrive where he compares the versys 650 with the tiger 800. It was an amazing one.
And the other coincidence is... a close frnd of mine was searching for a second hand car in the market and he got a deal of a Toyota Corolla altis at an attractive price of 6lakh. I had never seen the review of a corolla. And the 1st review I saw was of Kartikeya where he was driving the corolla in Autocar. Amazing 😁😁❤️

@@motorinc The time it took to get used to the business, the rigorous training that we used to have back in the day (contextualize it with how much it has diluted over time), how we moved from a purely implementation role, to tactical, and now into a mix of everything, including strategic. In 20 years, we've had to rewrite the playbook a few times over just to be able to stick with the realities of the times.
Loved the last 2 sections where you spoke about the way auto journalism has changed, and about passion and profession. We can become good at anything actually if we put our minds and work into it. It's been my own takeaway, since I had plans to get into auto engineering and ended up in accounting.
Forgot the best part. The near misses and close shaves in life, which we hated when they happened, and now we laugh at when we think about those.

It's really hard hitting, the way you mentioned passion and profession. Sadly, most people will realise it only after trying to marry two. And most of them will never realise it because they have only seen 3 Idiots, and have never tried it in real.

OMG 😱 Yamaha FZ16 was Shumis 1st video at overdrive. I wish I could see it today and know what your review was, as I have had that bike with me since 2009. Just booked Bajaj Speed 400 because when it comes to handling, it's literally on par with FZ16 but much more power n equipment.
This was a nice Jog down the memory lane getting to know some stories about certain things that I read about in the Mag and some that I recall watching on tv. I cannot believe how much I enjoyed it by the end of it cos when it started and Shumi said Stories, I was skeptical if I would like it or not. Hats off to you both. The combined experience and story telling skills of you both won me over.
Also, I 100% agree with Shumi about his answer to being an Automotive Journalist in today's time. Today's gen just wants instant gratification and they will make video's on high end machinery to get likes and watch time. I have seen this on Instagram.
Suggestion of topic for next discussion, if I may, the current gen 2 wheeler proprietary LED lamps on how underpowered they are and absolutely useless.

Fantastic video as always. Please make a video on the Suzuki Ciaz. I understand that it is due for a facelift but it would help those who are planning to buy the Ciaz in the next 1 year or more as there is know signs of an update.
I was cleaning my room the other day and found few of my old magazines , most of them are from Bike India , Overdrive and autoX.
One of them is BS motoring , Nov 2013 edition .
One the cover page it has BMW M5, Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG and Audi S6 with a title "Ballistic missiles ".
In also has the og RE Continental gt review .

I am a motorcycle guy, so for domestic bikes I had subscripted to all the major outlets on youtube. Any every video was more or less the same and left like a ad for a bike, with all those fancy shot and music. I soon grew tierd of it. I am glad that motor Inc takes their time to give us a detailed account of the motoring expereince while rest are in that rat race. Thank you.

I used to have a note with photos of bikes and cars, where I personally wrote their specs and included images I collected from newspapers and magazines. I remember having a photo of the Apache RTR 160 (2012) in it, and whenever I went to sleep, I looked at it and thought, WHAT THE HELL IS THAT!!!!

It is a pain and a pleasure to know that you guys will continue to be a two man team. Pleasure because I know the quality and consistency of the content will continue to remain high and there will be no dilution to this. Pain because I or others will not be able to join and contribute as journalists but only as editors or graphic designers or something else and even if we get to review stuff down the line, it will be the hardest job in the world to constantly reach the standards you guys have set. I can not write about these, I never did journalism, I follow channels like Motorinc and be a subscriber. a 30 Male.
Had an interest in automobiles as it was my specialization in college days (Btech). but the journalism in myself did not flourish.
Car reviewing is not that easy as well.
These days there are so many advanced techs inside a car cabin that I sometimes feel overwhelmed. May be in future I might try (and fail may be LOL).
You guys are the inspiration.
