  • Okay not the best intro (lol) but be AMAZED at the fact that you can curve frogs around structure AND walk them toward and away structure. Bummer you can't see it great (will rectify in a future vid), but Dean explains it well and it was amazing to know that this is possible. Enjoy bass-heads!

    About seven years ago a friend of mine drew Dean Rojas in a tournament as a non-Boater. My friend is actually a great fisherman and is not someone that exaggerates or is amazed easily. When he came back that day All of us went out to dinner and he was telling us stories that would blow your mind about how crazy accurate, dog walking, and just all-around placement he was with a frog. There were times he placed the frog through triple crossed laydowns with willow tree hangovers just to land on an area no bigger than the size of a credit card. I can only imagine how great he is now. All I can say is "ridiculously good"

      I talk to my daughter who plays soccer about this all the time. The amount of practice the great pros of any sport put in each and every day is beyond what people realize. Byrd, Magic, Kobe, Beckham, Messi....they all take thousands of practice shots a week. THOUSANDS. And this is on top of all the rest of practicing, conditioning and working out they do.

    I drew him as a marshall on the California delta a couple years ago.....it was an amazing schooling in frogging. He threw the frog for probably 3 hours that day and caught several good fish, including about a 5 pounder. This was all after catching a 7+ pounder flipping. All I can say is that the man is a not only a great fisherman, but he is a wonderful human being. We talked a lot that day and I really enjoyed getting to know him, of all the elites that I marshalled that weekend, being in the boat with him was the best.

    Wow. Watching a professional, an expert at his craft. Thousands and thousands of casts and time on the water to get to this level. Like a pro golfer, moves the ball where he wants, so does a pro bass tournament angler move his lure. He is the Nolan Ryan of frogging.

    Never stop having fun! My little brother and I were fishing one afternoon in the 80's and I tied on a frog and was playing with throwing it between floats under docks. I was narrating in Kermit the Frog's voice, singing "Its Not Easy Being Green" and a Bass blew up on it and I caught it. We still talk about that with our kids.

    100,000 thousand hours... 11 years with the same rod...

    • @johndwross
      @johndwross 6 лет назад +3

      Ha, if he fished it every hour of every day for 11 years!!! Here's the math... Rojas is 46 years old. He's lived approximately 394,000 hours. His outlandish exaggeration claims that he's fished his Duckett rod for almost 1/4 of the entire hours he's been alive! That's amazing! He likely hasn't fished frogs for more than a few thousand hours of his fishing life. A full time job is 40 hours per week for 50 weeks per year equalling 2000 hours per year. He doesn't even spend 2000 hours per year on the water. I'd expect amateurs to exaggerate but pros discredit themselves when they say garbage like this. Proves he doesn't think about what he says.
      Rojas is an amazing pro fisherman! He's one of the best pros at frogging techniques and puts on shows featuring that talent. He's cocky. Many amateurs have similar or better skills. Every next generation gets better!
      Exaggeration like 100,000 hours fishing this rod and participating in a hack video like this takes Rojas off my favs list.

      John Ross, what are your professional earnings and career tournament wins? Damn man, soak up some positive vibes. You don't have to buy anything he's pitching, he has to. The companies that pay him expect it.

      I think "100,000" was less a number to be taken literally than simply indicating he's racked up a lot of time with that rod. And he didn't seem cocky to me.

    • @JayKumarsBassBlaster
      @JayKumarsBassBlaster  8 месяцев назад +1

      100% right! I always say it's impossible to truly know how incredible these guys are til you are in the boat with them. And even if you're in their boat for a whole day, you don't even see 5% of what they know and can do!

    • @phillamoore157
      @phillamoore157 8 месяцев назад

      @@JayKumarsBassBlaster Yup....I totally agree. When you see guys giving their bait choices, etc.... You think to yourself, they're giving away secrets that could cost them money. But, they're only telling us 2% of what they know, or gear they're using. There's a lot of industries like that (the music/recording industry is notorious for that). That aside, this is a text-book example that even him telling us exactly what he's doing, how he's doing it, and what bait... It still would take us mere mortals the rest of our lives to catch up to him. These kinds of skills, and wisdom is what used to make all the pro tour's so incredible to watch. Now it's about electronics, unfortunately. But, I digress... I'm glad he handled himself well, and you had a good time. I had a very similar experience with Roland Martin, whom I look up to almost like a father. Thanks again for sharing.
