You are right! She wasn’t! If you look at her portraits she actually fits modern beauty standards way more than the rest of queens. The actress here looks sorta similar to the portraits, great casting. Henry deemed her ugly because his ego was hurt and he felt rejected by her when he made advances
I dont really understand the purpose of randomly cutting off the scenes to a point where the dialogs dont make sense anymore. Some scenes are already cut of after a few seconds without any context at all. Why putting in a 2 second long clip that is cut during a dialog and making it practically "useless" because they don't even get to finish the first word of their line...
I did this as it was more scenes for editing so they could add slo- mo, I do agree with you somewhat bu I also didn't want to make the scene too long so others cant download it
Henry could not afford to fall out with the cleves’ family and MUCH LESS harm anne. She was technically untouchable in that aspect. To her advantage that is why he remained civil with her and gifted her many things after their marriage was annulled. Anne knew this, she might’ve been stressed but not scared of death.
@@SunshineBear17 I can you picture this after they got done gambling alone and he asked her to go to bed with him and she did and she wound up getting pregnant that night and then nine months later she gives birth to a son. Oh my god that would be one hell of a plot twist in the whole series. What would Henry do when he finds out that she was with child and it was his, and she gave birth to what he really desired was his son and heir to the throne just something to think about
The real Anna most likely looked like her famlus portrait, which means she was gorgeous. She reacted in a negative way to Henry, who at 49 was an obese bald man with a stinking open wound in his thigh, looking nothing like his portraits from previous years. He claimed that she was ugly because she found him repulsive. I do luike the Tudors version wherein he finally has sex with her because that Henry is handsome but I am quite sure that the real Anna would have been horrified rather than satisfied. The real Henry BTW seems to like girls with undeveloped bodies. Real breasts and a curvier lower abdomen were not to his taste. In other words the curvaceous woman most straight men find ideal in 2024 turned him off. (Perhaps he was a bit of a Pedo)
Ironically he treated her the best. I read that they had a good platonic relationship akin to siblings and he gifted her land, palaces, and staff. She lived a good life apparently.
Anne of Cleves had the distinction of outliving not only Henry, but ALL his other wives! By divorcing Anne, Henry made her his “sister,” hence ‘Lady’ Anne.
@@clivechiam She was very clever and knew how to play the game. She appealed to his ego and said that she wasn't worthy of their marriage. She also said she loved his children because "they were so much like him." When he rejected the idea of marrying Anne again, she publicly bemoaned it have "been rejected twice" but inside she was probably relieved.
The costume designers did not mess around with Anne Of Cleves wardrobe. The headdress she wore when she was introduced to Henry is STUNNING!
are the crowns that are used in the Tudors real or do the make them ?
For not being an actress, I think Joss Stone does a really great job of portraying Anne of Cleves.
You know even in real life, I have this feeling Anne of Cleves was not ‘ugly’. Henry just did not want to marry her.
Not sure how accurate it is but some say he tried seducing her in disguise before their wedding and was butthurt when she rejected him.

Anne of Cleves is a very clever and lucky German frau
I would say SHREWD.😉
Not joss stone being the most gorgeous of them all to me
I wish she would have remarried and had 5 sons or something stupid like that just to stick it to him.
Love her. She was so smart. A princess for sure.

she killed it with that power move to show henry she had made friends with katherin and would not be his toy
Imagine she could have been the one to give him sons
In another life perhaps she was the one. He made a mistake.

I can’t believe Henry divorced her because he thought of her as ugly. I think She’s beautiful
Well, this is just a movie.😂 Real Henry did not divorce this lady...

It's a shame she didn't remarry and have loads of kids just to prove it wasn't her fault but Henry's.
