I grew up on good tv shows like this.
Paul Williams and Pat McCormick were quite good in this episode. Some will remember them as Little Enos and Big Enos from Smokey and the Bandit. Lots of fun dialogue in this one, well written.
These characters were introduced in a pilot called "Rooster" produced by Glen Larson for ABC in 1982. The network decided not to take the pilot to series so Larson re-introduced Rooster Steele and Sweets McBride in this episode.
Paul Williams was also a very influential songwriter, writing or co-writing among other hit songs, "An Old Fashioned Love Song" and "Out in the Country" by Three Dog Night, "We've Only Just Begun" and "Rainy Days and Mondays" by The Carpenters, "You and Me Against the World" by Helen Reddy, "Fill Your Heart" by David Bowie, "Evergreen" as performed by Barbra Streisand in "A Star Is Born", and "Rainbow Connection" from "The Muppet Movie."

The scene at about the 8 minute mark when the guy jumps off the building onto the airbag is a clip from The Fall Guy season 1 episode called, 'Charlie'.
This episode was an obvious backdoor pilot. Written by series creator Glen Larson too....he was definitely looking to expand him empire with the new characters.

This was a snazzy serio-comedy; I'm old enough to recall Lee Majors.as " The Six Million $ Man " , but this was a much better series.

Possibly,yes Knight Rider used miniature vehicles too in season 2 and part of season 3 until the fans protested and said they didn't like it.I didn't like the miniatures either.
