Zero complaints from me about skar audio. Just over 400 isn't bad at all. If I'm not mistaken, every skar amp meets or exceeds ratings. Great review thanks man ✌️

Hey bro if you like skar audio I'm fine with that I don't have nothing against their company but what I don't like is people down grading their amplifiers because they are not Sundown dc audio crescendo or crossfire? Each is to their own I'm running taramps for now and they talk about them? Buy what you like and forget about the rest of the people in this world?

we hate on skar because they're cheap and the ceo copied sundown. ive been running a skar amp and subs for over a year and the amp clips any time you drop any decent amount of voltage even though it claims to be stable down to 12 volts. not to mention, who makes a 3500 watt amp that has no clipping light or anything? i just bought a 3000.1 from trinity that has its own clip light on the amp and not only that, its way smaller than this 3500, puts out 3000 at 1 AND 2 ohms, and it costs $100 less. no one in the car audio scene, new or old, should be running skar in my opinion. you cant even say its good for people just starting out because you can buy a 1200.1 from skar for cheap, but whats the point if you cant even get the full power out of the amp because it drops off early with voltage? buy a good amp and two good subs for just a little bit more and actually be happy with your purchase.

I've been trying to tell people the same thing for years ever since I opened up my first Skar amp... they are the same half bridge amps everyone else is using... for way cheaper... good amps, a generic chinese build house design.. but nothing wrong with that, its the norm nowadays for quality on a budget.

Wal Mart pricing and audio shop quality. People hate cause they haven't actually used them yet..... The rp1200 will absolutely amaze you.... make sure you have a bad ass charging system. They're hungry for power.

I just got done counting my SKAR stash.....( I have many other brands also) currently I have almost every rp series amp they offer except a 350.1 a 4500.1 and a 750.4 . subwoofers...
      2# ix8"s 3# ix 12" s & 4# ix 10"s .
      2# vd 8" s ,1# vd 10 " 3#sdr 8" s
      3# 10" evls, 2# 15" evls
      3# 12" evls 1# zvx15"
      Speakers 6# tx 6.5 coaxials, 4# 6x8 coaxials
4# 5 1/4 tx component sets, 4# 5 1/4 tx coaxials and 2# sets of tx 6.5 components. I've also bought wiring kits, RCA's ,& prefabbed enclosures from skar. Other than shipping tearing up a enclosure or something like that, I haven't had any problems with my purchases. When I did have a problem with the torn up enclosure, skar had a new one at my door two days later. I'm 43 years old, I've been installing and playing with car audio since the late 90's. Only one other company has impressed me with their performance and price point.... that barely known company in the 90's is JL audio. Today I can't afford to buy jl to play with...when my older amp took a crap, My friend told me about skar.. my exact words were " I'm not buying wal mart shit to replace my Rockford amp or my alpine type r" ... times got tight and I pulled the trigger on a rp-1200 and a single evl 12 enclosure.... no regrets.
Everything in the list above, cost about $2k including wiring and enclosures. I'm not saying that skar is the best brand period, what I'm saying is... For the money.... Your going to be damn hard pressed to find the same level of quality and performance. That's just my story of why I'm SKARD FOR LIFE!

Well said. Good entry level buy, not a huge investment if have to replace amps and subs if you blow em. And it’s China. Hard to avoid financing an economy that sells what ppl want for cheap, but they turn around and own the planet. It’s politics for me.

    • @jaysonyang1441

Cheap but you get that half bridge cheap quality and design not very efficient when compared to the big brands, if it’s gotta be class d it’s gotta be full bridge for me and now a days constant power tech is the way to go for majority of folks, Rockford constant power and jl constant power are the best you can get, I think jl is way overpriced for the component build specs and power, Rockford fosgate punch and power series are Soo beefy and overbuilt it’s crazy 🤪, kicker stuff is pretty decent, I’d recommend kicker for most folks and Rockford stuff if you want it to last, half bridge just isn’t sq, unless your going for all Spl and just want to flex stuff then those generic chines and Korean made boards are all the same, I disagree with the statement that half bridge is more expensive to make, half bridge is way easier and cheaper to make, the chips and electronics engineering around it to make full bridge work is more expensive, half bridge your basically making half an amp to do half the duty side of a sine wave that’s why it’s Soo cheap

This amplifier is about that Life! For a normal automobile electrical system just settle for a 4ohm load and you will have plenty power at 12.5, 12.6 volts before bass loads and driving your vehicle you will have to deal with shared power but you will be heard a mile away. Then again if you pay over 400 dollars, I expect some great results. Tons of power for bass heads. Skar speakers are not as reliable due to some of them arrive with a squeak that turns into a disaster but this is only my experience.

I think that a lot of the hate for Skar goes back to when they shared build houses and basic amplifier chassis(s) with Sundown Audio. The amps were very similar and the Sundown fans were very defensive about the higher prices they paid for very similarily performing amps. Sundown has moved on to different and newer designs but the hate for Skar persists.

I’ve been in the car audio game long enough to know when all people cared about was do amps do “rated” power. Now it’s name brand recognition. F that don’t care. I’m not spending nearly over $1k to get an sundown salt 3k when I can get a skar rp 3500 for $400. If it lasts 1-3 years instead of 5-6 fine they are cheap enough to just buy another one and swap it out. I bought two fi Audio mt 12’s for just under $1500, opposed to nearly $1k for a sundown zv6 that is “rated” 2k watts under my subs at 4500

Skar car amplifiers are good, but even better are their Marine amplifiers. Well made for the price. And yes you can use those in your car too. Or that's what I always do. Marine components are always a few notches better than car audio components and much more durable. It is NOT only about being water resistant. Most company's best offerings are their Marine line of stereo components regardless of who the brand is. The silicone seal on the board actually helps to better ground the amplifier, not just keep water out.

Or are they going to get more expensive?

I would have to say, their low prices as nothing with volume. More as they cut out the volume of independent car audio shops that would have to make their profit to make a living and feed their families. While skar sales directly from them, it turn I would say they have a very high return rate. As someone that's been in car audio since 1988, ran my own shop for over 25 plus years. I see hundreds of high school kids order skar dual 2ohm subs cause they where on sale from them and then wire them to their 1ohm amp.. doesn't turn out good for them.. The reason more amp of higher quality cost more at actual real car audio shops, your paying for knowledge of pairing the right speaker with the correct amp every single time. Shops don't want returns and damaged equipment coming back. It's a hassle and a huge headache to start and gives your line a bad name.. Companies selling online are selling wrong amps and subs 75 percent of the time to people that have no clue about ohm loads .. I seen hundreds and hundreds of people come to me that have ordered their own subs and had a amp already.. or order an 2ohm only stable amp and order dual 4ohm subs. Which turns out terrible also.. sometimes the shops are needed make sure the new beginner's are getting a great experience from getting into the car audio scene..
