It was probably a complaint from somebody who was trying to get a pad put I know what in front of their house and could not. And since they could not, they thought they would complain about everybody else who had one.

"It's illegal to park in a front yard-" WHAT YARD? Does anyone see a yard there? I see a parking pad with a lowered curb *specifically* put there BY THE CITY so that a car can be pulled onto the parking pad. The people in the "City Planning" office who are denying these photos and who was involved in creating this ticket--including the person who drove out and verified they were parking there, the person who delivered the ticket, *anyone* involved--should all be fired and charged with harassment by a government official.
They should park in front of the driveway entrance and see if they get a ticket for that, too. Sometimes bureaucrats get drunk with power and become petty tyrants. They need to get a council person to slip an zoning variation into an omnibus bill for them.

This is an elderly couple that is being unfairly targeted by a city (and state) that people are leaving in DROVES. Why is an elderly couple being forced to park on a steep incline like that? San Francisco is just ridiculous.
I could see it being an issue if they were parking in grass or the like but its A CONCRETE PAD. the house looks far better with the car parked THERE than on the street blocking views either way as well. my bet would be it was an official making the 'anonymous' complaints. its a known abuse of the system to make more money for a city.
Sounds like Dan Sider has nothing better to do with his time but create city planning problems. SF City Planning Department should be ashamed of themselves!
It seem that they could get a different -- and authoritatively superior federal -- administrative function to adopt authority over their local administrative tyranny problem ... via the Americans with Disabilities Act. These are definitely older Americans, handicapped by age, who quite obviously should have a property-dedicated, personal use vehicle parking space nearby (as they have continuously used for more than a quarter of a century with no prior authoritative prohibition from City authority). The City's administrative rule against their personal property use rights is almost wholly an issue of aesthetics, and now as it is imposed, administrative dictatorship. As the parking space has a vehicle access friendly, city-constructed, concrete-ramp, suppress curb entrance between two stretches of buffer-curbs that then abut to the functionally "authorized" driveways of the neighbors on both sides, and that their parking-space ramp was constructed way back last century in front of their concrete parking pad, the burden-of-proof (that these people are lying about it ...) is on the City that the area has traditionally not been an historical parking space since the house was first built. What is their City council representative ignoring about this?
Some cities in California will enforce this. Some cities require you park in the garage or behind the front of the house. Some cities even go beyond that by not allowing parking in the street between 2 A.M. and 6 A.M. without a special permit.
Yep, you can only have a driveway if it's in front of a garage. It can not be parked in front of a living room or bedroom. That's actually a safety issue. I would sell that house to move someplace better and reasonable.
Perhaps ca, should stop allowing cars in the state. no one can have a car or gasoline engine!... Good bye to trains, trucks. but, the problem would be eradicated.
Release all killers and menaces to society and fine an older couple who do nothing to nobody ever . I’m getting so fed up with this crap. Bullshit we live in a capitalist society. Fight nonsense with nonsense..learn how to photo shop. Laughing, aesthetic reasons! But homeless camps, using streets as bathrooms are? I hope these people didn’t vote for what their getting.
You pay taxes right, well you really can't be finned for that in my opinion. I mean I asked the question like, I saw a sign that said do not enter on a public place but said state employees only, I feel like if I pay taxes I own a piece of that land, maybe dime size but it's there, same with everything else. I do feel if we pay taxes they should be thanking us for their paychecks and etc. My opinion
Maybe if the city can decide what is parked on a driveway, they can also pay for maintaining it.

two totally different departments that handle totally different things, but okay...

What a stupid law smh
Not enough money in the world to get me to live in SF.
I agree.
Not even the USA.
I got nothing better to do so I'm going to report my neighbors to make it more difficult for me to find parking on my street.
Nosey neighbors that seek relevance through unwarranted scrutinization of others in their private lives are everywhere.

It sounds like the city is misinterpreting the law. It says you can't park in the front lawn which would mean parking on the grass.
So it seems silly for one city department to prohibit something another city department put a curb cut for a driveway in
Beyond pathetic but after all this is a city that literally allows shoplifting.
Gotta make a fake garage

City planning OBVIOUSLY allowed a driveway there knowing it's usage!

It was trending and in North Carolina, we like to share and talk about stuff amongst our friends.
That’s not a “yard”.....it’s a driveway
Who owns the land? You can park on your own land. Build a covered carport there and see what the city says is a "lawn".
At first I was like: Ahahahahahahahaha
But then I was like: Ahahahahahaha, you voted for all of this.
That's the biggest BS I've heard, the parking is grandfather!
