Great video, Ruth! When I go online to prime or Amazon, I only order one, maybe two items at a time. They are items that I’ve had in my shopping list for quite some time and I only buy these when I’ve completed an item and need them. It’s my little system that keeps me in checks and balances. I am on a low buy , no buy replacement only voyage and I’m about two years into it. So far it’s going very well and I allow myself to shop and replace during the Black Friday sales. I may buy some spring summer fragrances in May or June. Your video was very very well done and helpful. Keep up the great job.

I used to buy a lot of makeup from 2008 to 2013 (when I worked but lived at home and I had started watching beauty RUclips in 2008), then I moved out of my parents house and was broke lol so I stopped watching Beauty RUclips and buying makeup. From 2014 to 2021 I slowly decluttered all the makeup I had bought. In 2021 I started watching beauty RUclips again and basically started my whole makeup collection over but I also simultaneously discovered project panning so luckily I haven't really overspent too much 😅 Eyeshadow palettes are my weakness though, but I'm ok with that. I really enjoyed this one!
Isn't it so interesting to look back and ponder when & where your makeup consumption rose and fell and why! Eyeshadow palettes will always have my heart!

2021 was when buying blush and bronzers was crazy! I blame it on Covid. I too am trying to use what I have and on very low buy. Your series is very helpful and very appreciated!

I love this series. If I didn’t I would probably be saying, “Still haven’t used it yet.” 😢 I love hourglass blushes but not the rest. But you know I love blush. 😊
I feel the same about the Hourglass palettes. I have many purchases that I now ask myself why? I’ve established many makeup & skincare categories I will no longer buy. Took me so long to come to my senses.
It's like as if we blacked out or something when we made those purchases! I feel like I was SO easily influenced! Didn't matter if the influencer had the same skin tone/texture etc if they said I had to have it then I HAD to have it! Like what??? Did I take actual leave of me senses! Walking into my first Sephora in France was like as if I was in a supermarket dash or something and it ALL went on the credit card! I shopped like I was a feckin Kardashian!
Hi Ruth truthfully I have been interested in skincare and makeup since I was twelve (I will be 52 next month). That’s forty years of buying beauty products. I always bought more beauty products than clothes etc because you wear your face and hair every single day. I probably started watching beauty youtube about 2017 and that opened a whole world of other brands that weren’t available in my local department stores etc. However I knew most of the hyped stuff wouldn’t suit me eg I never ever bought an ABH palette because they were all too warm toned and deep for me. I never bought an Hourglass palette but did buy a single powder in my shade and don’t regret buying it (in fact I bought a back up recently). So so many things everyone else loves and I knew wouldn’t work for me I just didn’t buy😂, so in that way it didn’t impact my spending really. I’m a difficult shade to match in complexion products so I never ever buy them online- I get samples first etc. I never buy bronzer or powder blush because I know I never wear it. I refuse to pay a huge whack in shipping etc and avoid those items also. I didn’t buy much makeup during the global madness because I wasn’t wearing it, but I did buy skincare then. My makeup spending picked up after we stopped wearing 😷 but hasn’t gone completely mental 😂. I declutter items that don’t work for me very quickly but because I try my best to research shades/formulas don’t make too many mistakes thankfully. I have a lot of makeup but not an unmanageable amount for me. I most certainly don’t declutter half my purchases like this turned out thankfully. Best wishes x
@@ruthfoley it’s just about being honest with yourself about what you’re going to use/wear and where you’re going to get use from it. I live in a town in Scotland and many women don’t even wear any makeup, so heavy makeup is just not seen here. I rarely go somewhere that I can wear glitter or a really coloured sparkly eye. I’m just wearing fairly subtle makeup on a daily basis so I don’t need all the multichromes and rainbow palettes we see from indie brands. Mainstream brands are also becoming very sparkly and the colour stories can be odd. Is it something you already have?, will you wear it?, do you still want it after the hype passes? Etc. best wishes x

My brother made a great point the other day, however long ago you think something happened add 2 years for covid! And he's right! I think I kind of blacked out with the stress of the whole situation and bought all around me!

2018/19 were the yrs I got heavily into makeup. Fortunately, I have several family members and daughters friends who are also big into makeup that have used up several items in my collection. Maybe 5 items have gone in the garbage. Items I passed along were brand new or lightly used.
Whats your favorite palette? I haven't really tried too many indi brands because I am afraid I'll hate it lol. I refuse to even try Pat Magrath because $128 is a stupid price for 10 shades. And some of the indi brands everyone seems to love have too many red and orange shadows i'm a redhead who can not wear those colors. I wear a lot of dark makeup am 57 but still a goth kinda person lots of black clothes and eyeshadows,
My current favourite is The antidote palette from B Perfect. But that wouldn't be a great one for you as it has loads of warm tones. They do one that's a lot more cool toned and I personally love their formula but everyone is different when it comes to formula preferences! I know a friend of my who is incredibly fair and also redhead bought and loves the ND Xenon palette. Maybe you could keep an eye out for it to go on sale??
I bought the mini and I didn't think I liked her I decluttered the retro palette but now I realize it was the colors not the formula I was having issues with@@ruthfoley

That's great, since I've moved back to limerick (my home town) I've been able to pass on lots to family members too which is been a relief!
