I'm loving these series. Love the driving mini vlog. 😀👏🏽
I get a bit jealous when people say 180 is like standard tempo, because it's my main goal for over a year now to get to it. But I'm getting there. After more than a decade without playing double bass, I picked up at around 140. The past month of so 160 bpm is getting better and better and I'm starting some exercises at 180. Soon!
Keep going, you'll get there 👍🏻
One thing that helped me was playing 100 bpm for 8 minutes, rest for 1 min, then then 180 is alot easier to reach
@@jasonashley1718 I do something similar but instead of 100 bpm I just relax and start twitching both calfs regardless of time or sync. After about 10min it feels I'm warmed up and my body is accustomed with playing fast. Then I start some exercices at 200 bpm for 2 min, 190... By the time I get to 160 it feels so slow it's almost easy.
If I start the other way around and practice at 150bpm for 10min, 160 feels way harder.
@danielfc interesting ill have to try that one 🤔 thanks man
Light running every other day will strengthen a lot of muscles needed to play double bass, you will see a huge difference within a month.
Thank you Marthyn for all your inspirational and educational videos!
Marthyn is Awesome
New DTA videos always inspire me to go practice. Thank you!
You are getting there sir! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Marthyn, I'm with you all the way🤘 I've followed you every since you started this academy. I know if anybody can come back from this injury, it's you. I actually think that you'll learn alot from this experience and get even more knowledge about drumming, I mean it would be typically you😁
I've struggled a little with the motivation with drumming lately because I don't have any music projects, but again you are a motivation and I'll try to follow you as good as I can.
I think my record was around 260 many years ago with my short board Axis pedals. Now I only have the Speed Cobras and they will probably stop me at some point. But I really like idea of starting slow and being able to play it tight and relaxed before you increase the speed.
Don't ever stop doing this Marthyn, your perspective on mastering an instrument is so insanely brilliant 🤘🤘🤘
This is awesome!
I really appreciate that you also mention how much that is fixed and a lot of takes in a lot of videos and this is just pure your practice!
LOVE iT!
Not to forget freakin awesome flow in both 195 and 200bpm WOW!
🙏 thx for watching
Cheers!
Eres pura inspiración y admiración
You have a relaxing voice lol
I have Iron Cobra pedals and they are 20 years old. Like you said they are not perfect. But they are comfortable and get the job done.
Driving right near where i live 😎
First !
Super excited to watch this series !!
Cheers😊
🙏thx for watching
on the road with Marthyn in the 22nd district of vienna. nice. 😁

That little hi-hat sounds really cool, what is it?
Focus on pushing heels up rather than pushing toes down. Valuable information.
What's the ride cymbal ?
That snare has an awesome snap. What is it? 😊
ah that's easy to achieve with the yamaha ead10..doesn't really matter what snare or snare head you are using...
Where is day 2? :P
this is practice session 2 on day 3 (I didn't practice on day 2)
I notice your chairs up pretty high. Does that make a difference??
Yes, it’s very important in order to be able to relax the upper legs/hip flexors.
nice beard teacher
300 bpm with these pedals would be insane.
What kind of pedals are they? I am on Iron Cobra 900s. Are they good enough to hit these speeds?
@@mdoucette45 He uses an older version of the Iron Cobra "Juniors" here, the hp200s.
He said he'll try to hit 300 bpm with these. I don't know if this is possible.
I don't even know if it's possible on the hp900s, however I've seen drummers playing up to 270 bpm on the hp900s.
@@punxsutawneyphil3944 wow, that is crazy! What are some pedals out there that are guaranteed not to hinder progress on developing speed?
Plan c, smoke 2 joints and drink 2 coffees.
is the microphone of the EAD placed above you? Do you use the built in trigger of the EAD? These sessions rule, keep it up
