    I get a bit jealous when people say 180 is like standard tempo, because it's my main goal for over a year now to get to it. But I'm getting there. After more than a decade without playing double bass, I picked up at around 140. The past month of so 160 bpm is getting better and better and I'm starting some exercises at 180. Soon!

      One thing that helped me was playing 100 bpm for 8 minutes, rest for 1 min, then then 180 is alot easier to reach

    • @danielfc
      @danielfc 11 месяцев назад +2

      @@jasonashley1718 I do something similar but instead of 100 bpm I just relax and start twitching both calfs regardless of time or sync. After about 10min it feels I'm warmed up and my body is accustomed with playing fast. Then I start some exercices at 200 bpm for 2 min, 190... By the time I get to 160 it feels so slow it's almost easy.
      If I start the other way around and practice at 150bpm for 10min, 160 feels way harder.

      Light running every other day will strengthen a lot of muscles needed to play double bass, you will see a huge difference within a month.

    Marthyn, I'm with you all the way🤘 I've followed you every since you started this academy. I know if anybody can come back from this injury, it's you. I actually think that you'll learn alot from this experience and get even more knowledge about drumming, I mean it would be typically you😁
    I've struggled a little with the motivation with drumming lately because I don't have any music projects, but again you are a motivation and I'll try to follow you as good as I can.
    I think my record was around 260 many years ago with my short board Axis pedals. Now I only have the Speed Cobras and they will probably stop me at some point. But I really like idea of starting slow and being able to play it tight and relaxed before you increase the speed.
    Don't ever stop doing this Marthyn, your perspective on mastering an instrument is so insanely brilliant 🤘🤘🤘

    is the microphone of the EAD placed above you? Do you use the built in trigger of the EAD? These sessions rule, keep it up
