  • Collegeboard’s new digital SAT gives students access to the powerful graphing calculator Desmos. This means that many of the questions that were difficult in the past SAT can now be easily solved using the graphing calculator. In this video, I illustrate this ease of using Desmos to solve two difficult SAT math questions taken from the digital SAT practice tests released by Collegeboard in the fall of 2022.

You can use a scientific calculator for exact solutioms to quadratic formula

Yes, indeed. You would be surprised how many students struggle with using the TI and HP graphing calculators. Desmos just makes life so much easier, especially for graphing and zooming etc.

is this the hardest question on the SAT? really? I am averaging around 1300 and solved both within two minutes without the calculator

That is good news, because in that case you should be able to score close to 800 on the math section. There might be two things you may have to focus on. The first is, are you comfortable with the harder concepts across the board, and not just questions that are based on the two examples shown here. The second area to focus on is accuracy, and specifically with the easier and medium level questions, where it is easy to overlook something and miss a question. As you know the scale is pretty steep on the SAT math, missing one question can easily knock one down to 790 and so on.

Wait, how are you able to use the black pen? I can’t seem to find the function for that

it isnt a function in the bluebook, he simply screenshotted the question and used a different program to draw over it. you can't draw in bluebook or digital SAT, but you will be able to use paper sheets and a pen while solving the exam.

@@BlueBerryRBLX Thank you for clarifying things. This is exactly what I did. I am just using the digital pen to show how and what one can do with the new Desmos calculator on the new digital SAT.
