Nope. I had an A8L, and now I drive an XJL... the Jag is just another level of car. Everybody out there has the A8, but Jags are not that common and command more eye respect. Just my honest opinion. Its a JAAAAAAAAAGG
I had Jaguar xj 510 ps and i now have xjr 551 ps. Beautifulcars, no problems and YES, far better looking thand Audi 8 ......Greetings from Norway@@edwinfigueroa1743

Dont get me wrong I would love to be able to own one of the 3. But man when the XJ rolls up the presence is indescribable compared to the others. What beautiful cars!
The XJ is a fantastic car,more an emotional choice than a logical one,that's why I've decided to make my next car an XJL Supercharged.

How anybody can compare Jaguar with anything? It is non-comparable car, and it is class for itself. There is no competition for Jaguar, because it is made with heart, passion, and care. They don't made cars to compare it with something else, they made cars just to be good for itself. It is question what do you feel when you see it, and what is feeling when you cruising around whit that sedan. If you want to race, buy Ferrari, XJ should be nice ride for easy cruising.

I have little dislike for Audi, because it is just an overpriced Volkswagen under that nice body, it does not have individuality, all Audi products have similar design. Mercedes is something else, it is a great car. But Jaguar is not made to be compared or be a competition to someone else. It is just a nice car. It is made for customer and it is good as one car can be good. They don't push themselves too hard to make something impossible or more expensive. That is why I love Jaguar, and somebody else can love or hate it, Jaguar just don't care too much about it. I also can say Jaguar is well priced and it have nice designed interior that does not look so expensive. The best thing about Jaguar interior that is not looks the same in their model range.

Pat Morgan I've had the opportunity to put a tuned cls 550 up against the bmw grandcoup. There were both great cars to drive. The cls had more horse power. 578 compared to the 445 HP in the grandcoupe. Check it out. You'll enjoy it. Just click my face it will take you to the channel. Hope u like it

I traded my Lexus LS 460 for the 2014 CLS 550. Better performance than my wife’s S550. Great car!
The CLS is the better looking and has the best combination of comfort and sportyness, which also is the highest values of these cars segment.

the jag may have a sloped roof, but I think it's in a more luxurious class of cars (s-class, a8 etc), and I don't think it's fair to compare it's handling to the other two..

I am glad they reviewed these 3 cars together. They all are about style and performance. I think its an interesting comparison and one that makes sense in that you can get them all for around the same price (lease rates). I wish the CLS and the A7 had seating for 5 though. Deal killer for me.

Because you can't compare a 5-Litre XJ and CLS 550 to A7, it should'v been 3-Litre XJ vs A7 vs CLS350 CDI and you would clearly see the winner. A7

Kahvisuodatinpussi Because in US we dont have diesel CLS or even a 3.0l XJ , however US recently got a 3.0 supercharged Xj in 2013, but still no diesel CLS350 CDI or Bluetec yet!

Let's be fair, why not compare CLS550 and XJ to an S7? Your A7 is not even s-line. S7 should make more sense in terms of power and price.

love my 2014 cls550, could use a chip as the engine was actually detuned by Mercedes because it competed to close to the 63s and could give much more power then what Mercedes set it to,
with a good tune and a modded exhaust the 550 could blow the 63 out of the water easily

I'm going to have to agree with you, as i drive a CLS, i do understand the power it has but, it is just ridiculous to compare a 3.0L V6 with alot less HP and Torque to the MB or the Jag, these guys are worse then the NFL's replacement refs.

To be honest, when it comes to cars like this, I don't feel like horsepower and v6/v8 really matter that much. How many people who own any of these 3 cars ever plan on bringing them to a drag strip or something? Lol. These cars are made for luxury reasons.
if motor trend got the jag XJ L supercharged 510 HP, it would make at least a 60% difference in speed, space, capability and so on

I think the guy did a good job. He was honest and explained it all nicely. I mean he's not awesome, but nowhere near bad enough to deserve a couple hundred 12 year old kids saying they know more about reviewing cars than he does, even though they've never driven anything like this.
The comparison isn't about comparing like for like, it's about comparing three cars which depart from the usual formula for an executive/luxury car. Quantum valiat, I have a Jaguar XF and it's the best car I've ever owned (even with the dodgy touchscreen).

I don't know, but it appears that Audi's engineers have some sort of hearing problems. I mean, they've made the A7 as loud as hell, while it's supposed to be nice, silent and gentle, and in the meantime, the R8 sounds like it's whispering when compared to the other options. WTF?

The Merc and Jag are significantly higher in price. This is important to us buyers and seemingly unimportant when magazines are reviewing cars. I'm guessing the premise that these are reviewed together is the swoopy backends?

Yea despite motortrend putting the videos up here, they're just quick overviews of the articles for the ADD crowd. If you're even remotely serious buyers or interested you'll buy the magazine.

i own the Audi A7, i am glad i had not watched this review before i bought it.
I saw the video title and I already knew what the comments would be about.
i like these US reviewers as they are not biased and not babazolled by the Audi designer interiors..
@Amidat MT and Automobile both, in the magazine review, called it a 4 door coupe for lack of a better term. Yes, they can be called hatchbacks, but if two magazine of the came company (Source Interlink) both call it a 4 door coupe then it is a 4 door coupe to them.
Clarkson says the the XJ has a whiff of NASCAR about it. That has sold it for me and because it's so different to anything else out there

You can compare the other two with the XF-R. That may have made more sense. And the a& has gorgeous interiors. The best of the 3 here.
The CLS created the four door coupe segment, so the fact that it won doesn’t surprise me. The best or nothing

they all seem really nice. i wonder how much would the maintenance of each car would be. they didnt really touch on cost.
Interior and mechanical. Everyone comes out with a whole new line of engines every year, yet the US uses engines from the 60's.
How do you match up the XJ with a hatchback? Then you matched it without the 510 hp Supersport to a twin turbo. Not fair.

@Amidat The Audi A7's base price is about $10k under the base price of the other two. The Audi A8's is about $10k over.
While the XJ is purely a luxury car, the other two (A7 and CLS) are supposed to be four-door coupes. Which is why the A7 is a better choice for comparison than the A8. Since they are direct competitors, I'd say it's fair to compare their interiors, while noting that the Audi starts at a lower price than the Merc.
Also, to what would you compare the A7?
The reviewer says the Audi feels cheaper inside. I bought the Jag and I personally feel it LOOKS more attractive, but feels cheaper than the Audi. The Jag is extremely sporty though on a level synonymous with BMW's 7. I didn't like the 7 because it BORED ME.
My jaguar has nice cooled/heated/massage seats and a beautiful interior pattern. I should have gotten London tan though - but it's harder to keep clean.

@gyro231995 - just because a magazine calls it that doesn't mean that's what it is... even manufacturers falsely advertise some times. In this case though - both Audi and Porsche actually are marketing the two cars for the functionality of the hatch.

How could they complain about the lights on the Mercedes? It looks beautiful, especially in the evening while the sun is setting with the LEDs on.
@game2heart - yeah which is very strange because 99 out of 100 reviews will usually say the Audi has the best materials in the interior.
how is this test fair whilst the other two cars has got bigger engine then the Audi A7, we're talking 4.2L biturbo from the merc and 5.0L V8 from the jaguar. It really should be compared with the S7 which features a 4.0L TFSI
the CLS 350 pre-2007 or whatever was 272hp, post 2007 it's at 292hp. the CLS 500(2006) however, is 306hp, and 2007- it's at 388hp. So try again.
