Kev, I wish a video series where you build a rc car from scratch without a specific basecar. Just use only your favorite upgrade parts to make your own hardcore basher.
If it can last more than 2 minutes of you and mad max testing on it, it should last the average guy a lifetime 🤣
So basically the Sledge is good once you throw the same money at it as you do an Arrma.... 😅. And to think of the 'shade' Traxxas threw at Arrma on release of this thing!

These sledges are pretty strong out of the box honestly, rc has came a long way regardless. Kevin’s probably the only person as reckless as cleeter and even he struggles to break them 😂

My reason for watching Kevin Talbot's channel? First of all, it shows what I can't do with my RC cars. So I feel vicarious satisfaction and pleasure. this is a really cool channel thank you.👍👍👍
Kevin, you need to teach him how to land the RCs when he jumps them. Still with how cold it was I'm surprised at it lasting that long.
O rings on the inside of the axle shaft help with it falling out possibly both ends I used this trick in my sc10 traxxas conversion
Sledge is 10x better..I bought a exb kraton and it blew out every servo I put in it.. I've just bashed the sledge done nothing to it and it's still going had it for 6 months still going strong
Got both Kraton 6 and Sledge. Kraton is more zesty, Sledge is tougher out the box, with a better servo and electrics. Better quality. UK seems to be on 2nd shipment of Sledges and I've not encountered the QC issues the US early adopters did (bolts, pinions etc). A good out the box all-round basher. My Kraton is better, but I've spent more on it. The Sledge body shell is brilliant with cold hands!

I still have an old school traxxas sledge hammer. With all that glorious yellowish white plastic that break when you look at it. Still really cool though
I had a Sledgehammer back in the day. I think there were three versions. I believe mine was the second version. It had the white plastics and black aluminum pieces. I remember always breaking body mounts and snapping outdrives. I thought the tires it came with looked awesome. I wish I still had it.
kevin you should keep the sledge stock and arrma kraton stock then compare so which is more durable out of the box

Watching your video my husband working on my kraten (it caught fire). The part where you throw it on I told my husband see how easy it is. So he tried it it didn't work. Hehehe we always watch you to see how good a rc is
Kev thanks for all the great videos. Watching them has got me back into the hobby got a Slash Ultimate to start with mainly due to not having to work on it much at the start. X-Maxx soon for sure.

Just an FYI get the rear RPM hing bolts for the xmaxx and use them for the sledge, they work perfect and are much much better than the stick traxxas ones. I broke 4 stock taxxas ones, swapped to the xmaxx rpm bolts and haven’t broken one since!!

I would really like to see you acquire the MJX Hyper Go brushless and just absolutely thrash it and look into upgrades that could maybe fit IE differentials that are stronger metal and a bit beefier. For us budget bashers

I think the Kraton and sledge are about the same. The chassis are just not made for extreme bashing. Buy and XMAXX

When you say 'look at the quality of that machining' - Normally, I completely agree with you and the machining is both faultless and beautiful. That GPM brace looked just... okay (although I couldn't see for sure if it was just the paint/anodise that was just a little rough). That being said, I remember buying GPM upgrades 20 years ago for my HPI nitro cars (RS3 and Savages) and the GPM parts were pretty terrible back in those days (to the point where some bits just didn't fit at all or had missing holes/threads), it does look like they have improved massively since then, to their credit. Great vid as always though Kev, wishing you a hugely prosperous 2023, mate!
GPM has definitely come a long way. I have been using random bits from them for years and yes, new stuff is much nicer.
I have to agree. Had several horrible parts for HPI rigs in the early 2000’s and now I have a steel spur and CVD’s all around on my Sledge and have not had issues as of yet.
I do have a set of M2C’s CVD’s sitting here though for when these finally do bend (which I’ve seen on other channels).
If you are super super picky with your materials like I am, you can see some differences in different manufacturers 7075 aluminum as well as upgraded steel parts, though...
I gotta say the exb is better even though I am a xmaxx owner and supporter love the video kev
I was out buying some tools the other Day, we have a Store here Called Canadian Tire. I had quite a bit of stuff. I am at the Cash register taking the stuff out of the Shopping cart and I start singing "It's Christmas everyday" the Guy behind me says...I take it you watch kevin talbot..lol I live in Saint John Ne Brunswick I believe the whole provance is less the one Million...lol
Seems like they are both the same once modded... Sledge seems harder to work on but I'm sure the diffs are stronger. Diffs are Arrmas Achilles heal. However, I've never seen an Arrma blow apart like that on all 4 corners at once!
Hi Kevin, Tip if you turn your fuel constrainers on there side they will pour smoothly. Please do a video on the HPI Truggy 4.6- 1/8 scale

It looks like the lower hub carrier pin broke and released the forces outward. I would say longer bolt washer and nut. Not sure if aluminum hub would be good or if it would transfer the shock and cause the end of the arms to break.

Here are my thoughts on these two. The sledge has better air control with the stock system. The Kraton handles better on rough terrain. The sledge gets around the track quicker. The Kraton and the Sledge with upgrades are both great options. You will have fun with either one. Stock out the box I think the sledge is tougher. If you're going to buy a Kraton, skip the RTR, get the EXB and change the chassis when it bends. At the end of the day, if you take any RC car to the skate park something is going to break. I want to see Game Over at the skatepark. I think Game Over with break the skatepark! 😂😂
WOW! Finally a Traxxas that has better air control than a Arrma RTR!!!??? Didn’t think that would ever happen. I guess the reason the Kraton is better with rough terrain is the fact that it is heavier.
I'd just like to see SOMEBODY make one that works really well AND has everything upgraded to the max straight out of the box! Surely it would even work out cheaper since you wouldn't be paying for all those parts that you're either just going to rip straight off, or HAVE to rip off after they break anyway. All these mods SHOULDN'T be necessary. Replacement parts need to be available because nothing is indestructible but, make one that doesn't need immediate and constant ongoing upgrading, for a price of course but, like I said, it should work out cheaper because you wouldn't be wasting parts. I know I'm not buying another until someone does so if they don't, that's it for me.

Hello Kev and fellow patrons, I just got my first RC Truck. Now before you get excited it is not a KT style truck but it is my first and to me it is awesome! Drum roll please! Would you please welcome my first ever RC Truck of hobby grade my China made by way of America Deerc 4wd off road 2.4GHz named Rally. I am going to take pictures and do a small video of my first run with Rally. I will paste it on my facebook page.
Again this was a New Years special deal that I barely could afford but I am so excited as an old man to be! Rally has brought great pleasure to my mundane life! I have been building a die-cast racing complex for about 3 months and I am not to far from launching it on youtube and other places.
As I was building it I had been watching good ole Kev that I had found by accident and he just drew me into the RC hobby world even more than my Die-cast hobby world. Then of course I have been watching as many more RC channels as I could find.
About 12 years ago right after my back surgery from an injury at the place I was working I was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease that has literally almost laid me down for good but after running into my Angel from my childhood past, my first love, she has been standing by me and helping me mentally, physically and spiritually thru all of this.
Trying to make a long story short/ I am a musician by trade drummer, singer, songwriter but have also worked as a carpenter, cook and sound tech. I loved my life before but all my medical issues about brought me to my..no it did bring to my knees. Without God, Mickmo my angel I would not be here receiving a brand new life and managing it after all the havoc and disruption. Thank you Kevin for brightening my days with your lively, and lovely banter! Every time I get a package now Mickmo and I sing "its Christmas every day" LOL but now I might even get to tumble wumble! Can not wait to see your next Monster Truck rally and my next RC run with my truck I call Rally. "Game Over" Pappy J out! God speed to Kevin all his friends, fans and family. HAPPY NEW YEAR!

This is taking the truck from 100 to 1000. Also most won’t be doing the extreme bashing. But for regular driving/bashing which is best of the two
When ever I need to take the front brace out of mine i just take the front shock tower off and it comes out super easy

Those 3mm hinge pins are so weak..guaranteed to break,they snap in the middle strangely, it's the only thing I've broken so far..The upgrade is 4mm, you have to drill bigger holes :D

I think I packed the diffs too full. Will a gearing change get it back to the Monster it was?!

I have an old rc that is pretty rare. I don’t have the time along with the fact I don’t have the resources available like you to be able to source parts. It’s a ofna titan twin. I would love to see it running instead of sitting on my shelf and would be willing to donate to the channel if you can get it back to its original glory
