Thank you YTV for posting this in English. Like other non-Nihongo speakers, I have seen the original video and wondered what Watanabe's comments were during the flight. Could see he was having a tough time. Outstanding result 👍
Thanks for the English translations. I watched the all Japanese vid of this and was Amazed, this is even Better ! I realize many engineering feats had to get accomplished just right for this to be made possible, but the Heart that Pilot possesses was just Amazing ! !
I saw it in Japanese and while I do not understand Japanese I could understand what a super human technological and athletic achievement it was. Kudos mr Yuta Watanabe Kudos Japan!
I would trade American football, baseball, basketball, boxing, wrestling, track and field and soccer to bring this one sport as a new American pastime!
This is a fantastic engineering effort. Why do the aircraft not use the ground effect? Also you could experiment with electronic pitch controls to keep the plane at the perfect elevation. Electronics and actuator are very light these days.
So this guy is not a professional cyclist and he just works at a machine company? What if they could find professional cyclists to use as pilots instead? They could definitely beat the world record.
It is safer to land on the surface of the water in a crashable structure. In the past, some participants have fallen onto concrete structures and suffered serious injuries.

That's some serious engineering to pull that off. Nice.

I'm so excited to have English commentary for this!
So best Japanese basketball player, best badminton player and best birdman have the exact same name. Cool.
Awesome feat! Congratulations to the whole team and especially Yuta Watanabe as pilot/operator
Outstanding, was great to watch!

Class.
Think of all the factors that had to go just right. Amazing. Power/weight ratio off the chart.
The engine pulled this off is a piece of fist size muscle called heart.
Yuta Watanabe "Birdman №1 2023" ! ))
What a guy, to say " we made it" and not " I made it" Well done
Xtra flight! Human power
Lance Armstrong would be envious!
Man this is so much more crazy then Australia's one.
Fantastic effort unbeleivable distance 😍
Espectacular, needed any i fo about time speed pilot weigth estimated power etc
Is there a place to buy that team's T-shirt?

🎉
Extraordinary plane driven by legs of a champion. Only question is why a helmet?
This is to protect pilots’ head from collision with the structure of the plane due to the impact when landing on water.
It's a rule to protect pilots.
Just in case...
Flugtag is a joke compared to this 🤯
Verily! Flugtag is more about having fun, but this is very serious.
Indeed , different league altogether.
元々日本も遊びだった
100mも飛んでなかった。
ただ繰り返すごとに真剣になって、距離も伸びて今になった

he is almost pro
Why not land it on land at this point?
No landing gear lol

The competition rules stipulate that the maximum safe flight distance is 60km.
