Mate I feel like you're hitting a magic stride with this one. Loved your pace, loved the flow of the humour and I loved hearing your enthusiasm for the game and for making videos. And MIDI Limp Bizkit? That tickled a real specific part of my brain!

Damn this was a solid review, that actually had good takes and not constantly gargling team silents balls. Less time spent bitching about how the OG did it better. and more time making a fair critique about the padding in the game or other aspect that I as well agree took away form the experience. And the fucken MIDI XD. Id say most of us old SH fans are glad we didn't get a shit sandwich. OG SH2 will always be my favorite horror game and most enjoyed in the series. But the remake was a delightful love letter coxing us back for another visit. and the devs did a great job.
Yeah the team silent fascination is a bit much, sure the games post them have been.. contentious to say the least, but there is some gold buried in those janky hills
I played almost to the end of SH2 Remake, but I just couldn't finish it. The game is so overly long that it makes me hate the town of Silent Hill. The combat is probably improved over the original, but it can't carry double the runtime at all, so it ends up feeling a lot worse. The story is almost the same, but with less impact due to a variety of things, but the runtime is actually (surprise, surprise) one of them. Also, I really felt like the music left barely any impact on me in this game. It's so subtle in its application. The original SH2 made me love the music. I think it's both the re-arranged music in the remake and the low music volume. I'm not really that into horror games and would probably give the original Silent Hill 2 an 8/10, but this remake still manages to offend me lol I'm still looking forward to that weird sci-fi game Blooper is working on. I just think this Remake was a mistake and I would have preferred a simple remaster.
I didn't understand the choice of redoing some musics... but worse. I'm thinking about the first Maria encounter, the music is almost a parody in this scene. Also yes, it's way too long for what it is.
All valid points. I do think though that for a remake of a game that’s rightfully put on a high pedestal like SH2, the remake was mostly well done and people can still play the original if they haves the means and experience that unique version.
I like both. The older performances fit that version of the game and the new performances for the modern version. The acting for the Stillness ending is phenomenal though.
I really enjoyed the SH2 remake for what it was. I don't see it as a replacement of the original but I really enjoyed my time with it and think it's definitely one of the better SH games as a whole. There are a lot of bits I think might actually be handled better in the remake as opposed to the original. I much prefer this new version of James (it was always so hard for me to not laugh at James' delivery in the original and I think my enjoyment of the harsh themes of the game were ruined by his silly voice and line reading). I also really love the way Angela and Eddie were handled in this version. The only characters I don't think are better or worse than their original counterparts are Maria and Laura (which isn't a slight against the new actors; more that the originals were always really good and outstanding). As for the pacing, that's really my only issue. Super long slog of a game to replay once you've gone through it. Even with the chainsaw and playing on the easiest difficulty, I had to force myself to trudge through long sections again to get all the steam achievements without falling asleep.
Didn't play these games back when they first came out. Played Silent Hill 1 around two years ago, and loved it. I love this remake, but it has motivated me to go play the rest of the series, especially OG SH 2.

The seemingly endless walls climbing up and down into a void freaks me out whenever I see it. The game is so good. Oh and the GOAT of the game, Abstract Daddy. OOOOH MYYY GOD. It was perfect.
