Chrysler Group is Being Ripped Apart at the Seams! Stellantis CEO's True Motivation
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 27 июн 2024
- Recently Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares visited US based production and corporate facilities and determined that the FCA group will need to cut costs by a further 30% to meet profitability expectations. I give you my thoughts on what this means for the company and his possible motives for these demands. I take a hard look at the numbers to see what is really going on.

This is intentional by the Chinese s*** From Communist China. Thanks to its Biden supporters and friends. Shows the Democrats puppets string being pulled by these kind of Why is Dodge a Chrysler even with a stupid company. Bring them back home at f Joe Biden.
They already had a deal with China. 1/3 of the project will be made there. Just keep lying Democrat Communist Now you know what Biden and the Democrat party are working for and who's pulling their puppet strings?
Says it'll be here on the 🍀 7th 👀✌️
Got mine today! I really appreciate the bonus with it. Thanks!
It's hard to be loyal to a company that has no loyalty to you. In fact, most of these companies seem to hate their own customers these days.
Such a valid point
Dodge treated me so shitty after dropping over 100k on a Durango Hellcat that I’ll never spend another penny with Stellantis. They can go F themselves honestly… I’m sure they were upset that 2021 owners sued them but no direct connect support, no Uconnect software updates and no Rf Hub lockout was a middle finger to us on their part.
I remember 2021 when I wanted a scat pack widebody and every dodge dealer around me had them at ~$65-72k. I'm now the proud owner of a Camaro SS ($44k msrp and what I paid) and will never buy a dodge again. Dodge knowingly let dealers screw us to help pay for the EV transformation they are attempting (along with the Hornet, and what genius decided to end the Hemi cars before the replacement is even available?).
It’s greed…
I feel like I’ve been censored.. my comments keep disappearing😞
The right thing to do is Send the Foreign leadership packing. Dodge should be an American owned company
Someone will have to be willing to buy a declining car brand then
@@jointhefist1016 of course. But it's only a declining brand because stellantis killed it
Preach on Brother!!!
@@MrKitrellr1 It's been declining for a while before stellantis I'd say
@jointhefist1016 it's been declining ever since they pulled Ram out. The trucks kept Dodge alive. Once Ram separated, Dodge was performance car or bust, which isn't a good business model. You need economy cars and traditional SUVs, which Dodge hasn't brought to market.
In a few years people are going to be saying "remember when Chrysler actually had cars?"
They say that now since Chrysler itself dropped the 300 and only offer a minivan now.
@@knightofelemia1567 ya see?
And now since Tim left the woman running Chrysler is taking over Ram. RIP Ram.
@timothydubois5834 how stupid or desperate do you have to be to have a female CEO who has no idea how men think?
I do believe this is what happens when you allow foreign companies to purchase American companies
Ask boeing how outsourcing engineering worked out
Yea, Carlos wants to cut costs in USA but he took a 60% pay increase equalling 39 million dollars this year. And you’re telling us he needs to reduce the cost to build performance cars by outsourcing them over seas. Give me a break
His Netherlands executive team got huge pay raise and engineering there have vastly underperformed but have gotten paid ton of $$
Stellantis prices have gone up 50% since 2019. That is not inflation or supply chain issues, just greed. These cars that sold so well at 2019 prices are sitting on lots now due to their ridiculous stickers and high interest rates. Tavares wants to maintain a profit per vehicle target like he did 2021-2023 when supply was low and people bought because they were stuck. They also had government stimulus checks from COVID. How are those loans doing now? Until you accept reality and bring prices down, the company will struggle. He cut key R & D jobs earlier this year in North America. If he cuts more, just remember that low-cost engineers in Turkey and Morocco are low-cost for a reason. When you cut experienced talent like that, it shows you are desperate. Those people will find jobs and never come back.
Dodge was a AMERICAN made car and should still be an AMERICAN owned and made car. Not interested in foreign owned and built products. This is a big problem in our country. How in hell Mopar/Chrysler got sold around like this sucks. Lee Iaccoca would have never let this happen. I want nothing to do with EV's, Hurricane 6's, and the green new deal horse 💩. Also SCREW the EPA. You did an excellent review RacerX. At 80 yrs.; I will drive my HEMI until either I croak or the Hemi croaks.😎
Money talks. Hard to stop that happening
Lee I acocca hired a GM guy who sold Chrysler to Daimler, remember?
@@manuelsmiley7125 and Daimler realised Chrysler was too far gone as a brand even they couldn't save it and turned it loose to fiat. That said GM and Ford mostly are made in Mexico so they aren't AMERICAN made cars either. You want an AMERICAN made car, buy a Toyota Camry or a Honda Accord, those are actually made here...
American built cars aren't very high quality compared to many European cars. Its always been that way.
@@ArshAZ83 you have no idea what you are saying. Chrysler didn't need Diamler, it was the other way around. Chrysler was the most respected car company worldwide in the late 90s, so much so that Daimler approached Chrysler about merging, Why? Because Chrysler had billions of dollars in the Bank and Daimler was struggling, Why was Daimler struggling? Lexus, Infiniti and BMW. Chrysler was looted by the Europeans.
Looks like our buddy Tim seen the writing on the wall
The ICEman leaveith...
Well if they're cost cutting, maybe cutting his bonus is the first cutting that should take place..EV's are NOT the future!
I'm 72 and have never had my name on the titleold man of anything that was not a Chrysler product. I've been racing a 1965 Dodge Hemi Coronet for 54 years. I'm retired, my paersonal cars are a 2015 Chrysler 200, and a 2005 Dodge Durango Hemi with 200K miles on it. I loved since new. This beaks my heart to see Chrysler go away, and honestly I doubt any of the manufacturers are doing well, the cost of all of them is out of control. Frankly, I could not be remotely interested in an electric car or truck. I'm glad I'm an old man.
I agree with you wholeheartedly 100%. Me too, all my cars are Mopars, 2012 Grand Cherokee that I love, 2009 Chrysler Town & Country Limited, 1995 Grand Cherokee Limited V8 in mint condition. I feel your heartbreak, I feel it too, deeply...
Sadly “Stellantis” is a Euro focused company which has zero respect or interest in the North American market. They want Jeep bc they think they can make that a global brand but the other FCA/Chrysler brands are going away. The vans are still made in Windsor and they will stay for now and they will fiddle around with Jeep. Ram trucks might be on a death watch. There are no other Stellantis brands that American buyers want. The new Euro management team is clueless and are there to downsize the American Chrysler business. Lee Iacocca must be turning in his grave😨
I really hate what has happened to Dodge. 😕
Lots of people seem this coming
I just put in my two week notice on Monday...even the dealership is going down..sad state of affairs.
Amen 👀✌️
They did it to themselves, most companies adapted to this change they knew was coming a long time ago.
I actually wanted a challenger but it is too expensive and it's being discontinued. Tough.
they upped the prices 50 percent and used the profits to build EVs 😡
Bingo! Say thank you to musk and China.
Try Building Back Biden green new deal for this everybody has to play along 😳😳😳. FCA was European since Benz guys 😳😳
Prices go UP, quality goes DOWN you can’t afford to save the empire. Bye, bye.
Interest rates for new Car loans are also a large factor for a lot of people. Very high interest rates on very expensive cars is a hard sell.
So true about High car loan rates. until the Fed gets inflation down to 2% they won't pivot the Fed rate.
There is always the option of being smart and not blowing heaps of money on a car you definitely can't afford.
Rely on the fed and the government? They will create more inflation
Who knew that if to raised your prices in this economy. Less people will buy
Okay. I'm a Detroit native. I grew up in the automotive industry. I can tell you firsthand what makes U.S. Automakers successful is not the profit and loss sheets, its making vehicles that are affordable, likeable, and fun, emphasis on likeable and fun. GM realized this that is why they are making the move to fun. Ford realized this and made the move to fun and fairly affordable. You mean to tell me, that FCA can't make a fun and affordable vehicle in the U.S. with American workers? All of our foreign competitors would strongly disagree with that notion. Look at Hyundai and Toyota. They are just as profitable, yet they have vehicles well within the budget of most Americans and most of those vehicles are built in the U.S. That should show you that we may need to change our view of how the UAW works with our companies to keep costs under control because the biggest difference with our foreign competitors have compared to FCA is they do not use unionized labor, yet their workers are well compensated and they make affordable, quality products. That's how Chrysler used to do it before the bean counters started running the show. Notice the years the FCA brands were doing great, Tim was running the show. When Carlos started putting his formula in the mix, everything got overly expensive, and sales plummeted. I say terminate Carlos and put Tim in his seat. I'll bet within three years he can turn this thing a full 180 degrees.
You still got to have , quality with affordable. The industry is product driven got to have right mix of product in the marketplace, yet the American brands must be relatable to Americans, I don't want a dodge, jeep, Ford, Chrysler etc if their built outside north America... Then I may as well consider all foreign makes n models. Now to the numbers on these video the sales has substantial drop , they did make ton of money but they done nothing basically to market and build up the product line since they got here, I mean what product do the French have that sold in quantity here in America? What did they know about it? At least the Italians overall built up the Product n let the Americans do their own thing.. now the product is stall being bashed and the quality gaps are substantial and throwing the loyal people out! To shave costs on an issue apparently the new ownership not planned for. Ughh!! Now who's SEC allowed the merger sale of this company that was saved with publics money? 😮 Oh that guy saying he is selfless and Loves only America..😢
That's my one major gripe with President Obama. He saves GM to keep them American but forces Chrysler to sell to a foreign entity. Not cool at all with me.
The SEC that allowed the Merger sale to stellantis was under the Trump administration. That is the facts.. I guess that means there were no other investors or buyers for this company but the French. I believe after the bailout there should have been stipulations regulating the sale of a company bailed out by the people. I don't know but it's a shame it's happening again, this time probably permanently
With all the outsourcing and robotics, employee labor comprises just 7% of the cost of a new vehicle. For the average sales price of $47,443 for a new vehicle and estimating a conservative profit of 10% to the manufacturer, the employee labor cost component is approximately $3,000 per vehicle. So even a 50% pay cut would only reduce a vehicle build cost by $1,500. Do you really think that cost savings is going to show up with a reduced MSRP? Maybe it's time to stop blaming the U.A.W. for Stellantis's poor management decisions.
I love how upper management blames employees for everything. Yet management destroys a company, walking away with their golden parachutes! Build vehicles that are reliable, people want and can afford, it's not rocket science!
Net profit was €18.6 billion last year. They don't have to reduce American jobs at all.
Greed
bbbut the shareholders were crying their ROI wasn't as high as they were told so rather than making the CEO take a massive paycut they lay off all the American workers.
Corporate greed plain n simple
I appreciate the information and insight that RacerX has on this matter. As a decades long Mopar enthusiast I am saddened by it. Have to wait and see how it all plays out. I'm hoping the US economy can make a major recovery after the '24 elections, which should help the situation tremendously.
I was in the uaw at ford for over 10 years. These companies hate the workers. If they screw over the American worker then I'm out. I've got my 2023 Challenger 1320, and I won't need another one.
They will not pass that savings on to the consumer. You can forget about that. You don't raise your prices that much to pass it on.
I agree, they cut costs so they can have a higher profit margin they will not pass the savings on to the consumer.
Passing savings on the consumer under the myth of 'cheaper products' is the bullshit neo-con lie that never stops being spewed.
F@ck Stellantis
Dodge hit the wall going 149
My stable is 100% Mopar. But I don't see myself buying anything from them in the future 😢
If these American companies outsource North American jobs maybe the president can start putting tariffs on these outsourced vehicles
Damn right, the Charger and Challenger are Canadian/ European cars (made in Canada, owned by a Euro firm). I agree that companies shouldn't be able to wear the skin of a American legendary brand and pretend it's still American. Buy a Mustang or Camaro, both are made in America.
They will simply raise the prices to cover the tariffs. Not buying them is the answer.
@@joel6513 Much different than building them in Canada, than in a different continent or honestly even in Mexico
And if you want a American built car, you'll need to pay decent American salaries, making higher car prices
@@jointhefist1016 No it's not, I'm a Canadian living in the USA and no, Canada jobs and Mexico jobs aren't our concern and don't benefit us, thats why they don't build them here, because its cheaper to build them elsewhere.
@@joel6513 They actually do benefit you, if you want lower prices. And they became their concern, when they starting building them there
What a cluster fuck . This doesn't help Detroit .The city is having a hell of a time trying to rebuild itself.
I think a big reason the cars aren't selling is because Chrysler Corp lacked the budget to update their platforms. The Durango, 300, challenger, and charger are (were) ancient platforms. No one wants to pay 2024 prices for a car last updated in 2014. Just my opinion.
Porsche's platforms typically run about a decade, they are much more expensive and people have no compunction shelling out the big bucks for them. It's more like they don't like spending 100k+ for a car and the engine breaks as soon as they do what the car was supposedly made for, like the demon 170 fail.
@@ArshAZ83 Porsche is low volume sales and they constantly refine their product line
Ummm... the platform itself is twenty years old, Durango even longer. They've really had nothing new in the pipeline for that segment of the market.
Im sorry but I can't be with you on the prices. 125k CAD no markups, for a widebody hellcat with a basic ass interior. Thats the price of a small house about a decade ago. You could go see BMW or Mercedes and get performance AND luxury for that price point. You will definitly have a better dealer experience too.
Dodge is done
Dodge may be the next Pontiac 😢😢😮😢😮
Sad to say that might be true. I certainly miss Pontiac. I've been a Pontiac enthusiast for decades and decades. I have owned many Pontiacs over the years. I have a 65 GTO in my garage I've owned for 36 years and it's next to my 2022 Dodge Challenger 5.7 Hemi RT. and soon I will miss Dodge
@@ex.spaceshuttle.worker Pontiac stopped being Pontiac in the 80s when GM consolidated everything behind 'standard engines' which were all *chevrolet engines*.
@@ArshAZ83 true... the last real Pontiac engine that was made was the 400 cubic inch in 1978 even though some 1979 Trans Ams got the Pontiac 400 from leftover engines. After that the engines were called corporate engines like you said. Just like the 2004 GTO receive the Chevy LS1 motor and then 2005 and 6 got the Chevy LS2. But at least the Pontiac name plate lived on for many years even though they didn't have a true Pontiac engine. And that's where Dodge is heading
Dodge & Chrysler didn’t focus enough on a broader portfolio of vehicles. You can only sell so many Chargers and Durangos. They've lacked a high volume compact car for years and they've neglected the small crossover segment until the Hornet. Regarding Chrysler specifically, you have to wonder why that brand still exists. They could've branded the new minivan as a Dodge and why have they continued to sell the 300?
Yep agree they need another bolt of lightning like the Neon from the 90's. Unfortunately the Caliber, Dart, and Hornet missed the mark. Unlikely to happen since there marketing and design have missed the mark time and again.
Save dodge save dodge save dodge
It's the titanic. It's just a sinking ship at this point.
They are killing one of my favorite brands smfh
Dodge died when they began rebadging Mitsubishis as Dodges. They had a small revival under Daimler, went into a coma under FCA and proceeded to flatline after Stellantis took over.
@@ArshAZ83 cant say they flatlined under fiat selling the number one vehicle for the price and segment. The challenger was the best selling car in that price point for a while. Charger was best sedan. The mustang finally dethroned them this year because of them dropping out. They literally did the opposite of flatlined in that segment.
I turned the video off when racerx Said maybe they can pass down a 20% decrease to the consumer. Racerx you know better than that. That profit will go to the shareholders and the higher ups in the company. The consumer will not see a price drop.
I believe Tim knew what was coming and directed his engineers to create the Demon 170 as a middle finger to Stalantis.
I brought a new 21 grand cherokee Srt Rhd down under before the V8 end. The factory 20x10 wheels are stamped taiwan. The spare tyre is inprinted made in russia ! I also have a 2018 trackhawk and just replaced touch screen. When I pulled screen off unit it had made in china labelled on back. I understand v8 engines are made in mexico. It would appear many components are already out sourced but assembled in US.
For over 40 years now, a combination of taxes, fees, emissions/greenhouse laws, and labor costs here in America have caused many manufacturing jobs to be lost. Companies are trying to save money for themselves and lower costs for the buyers, so they end up building warehouses and plants in parts of the world that have lower labor costs vs the American Dollar, lower property taxes, lower fees for utilities, and fewer and lesser strict laws involving pollution and climate.
That's also the case with customer service hotlines. We've become used to talking on the phone with somebody in India while going over an issue with a credit card account or needing assistance with our Ebay account.
When I worked at the Grand Cherokee/Durango plant, they would put black stickers on all the warning labels on the batteries of units going to China. They are a bit looser on their environmental/public health concerns. Lol. They would actually reject import of ones that didn't have shit covered up. Different ball game rules over there. You can literally say they play dirty.
That was nice set of statistics. However, as the vehicle prices went up much faster than the cost of living how do the price increases compare to the amount of vehicles sold. I understand that he will reduce cost, but do not expect Carlos to pass much of that savings on to the American consumer. That extra profit will be passed on to his stockholders.
Paying 100k for any Dodge car is ridiculous 💯 15:38
paying 100k for any American-made vehicle is ridiculous
Now now children. Calm down
Paying $100,000 for any vehicle is ridiculous
I will miss dodge brand, but the writing is on the wall. Greed is what's happening on both sides. Great info as usual. Thanks racerx.
The big three never learned from the last bailout. They need more cheaper cars that flood the market with a decent build quantity.
If they kept the V8 and sold it where they didn’t rob there customers of a arm and a leg they would be selling a lot more and you wouldn’t be seeing your numbers in the red . and dodge and ram would be building more for the demand
For a lot of people, a v8 isn't the only reason they'd buy a car. They need to improve their cars overall
500 layoffs at Sterling Heights Assembly plants I believe was announced yesterday. Another 1200 to 2000 salary employees from Auburn hills is being let go between today and Wednesday
They tell me why my plant is working 7 days 12 hours
Stop right there - Dodge made really fun cars!
Yes, their muscle cars were truly on to themselvs and there is a very small segment of the auto market that caters to this type of vehicles.
Given the name of the game is to make money, if that small segment of specialty cars can't make the entire company profitable, the it will be reduced or eliminated completely!
So how many of you folks out there voted for potato head in 2020 and how''s it working out for ya??!!!
@racerx I kind of disagree with you. 2020 2021 we had Covid. We had extremely high pricing and until recent months you couldn’t get a discount on any car all the cars were overpriced.
A lot of the cars wouldn’t sell because the dealers wouldn’t do on the pricing. Remember, they had inventory problems you couldn’t get parts or cars. Lots were empty. The decrease in numbers is really an impact in dealing with the dealers and high prices with no inventory.
I wouldn't say that prices remained steady. I got my spec'd 21 Challenger R/T out the door 4,200 over MSRP.
I'm going optimistically look to the up side of this.... the return of street and track builds
Great points RacerX! I just think things will be changing for Mr Tavares very soon.
Well, that’s why I just bought me a 2022 Charger R/T Plus in Indigo Blue. Found one with everything I wanted and nothing I didn’t want. 8,300 miles from a 1 year Dodge employee lease. Got them down to $37,300.
I’ve always loved my mopars and I’ve always wanted a Charger. Finally got my dream car. I’m not a modder or anything like that, but love channels like this. Keep em comin RacerX!
I’d seriously consider selling that Demon 170. There’s no way the company is going to continue to stay behind the previous gen vehicles
Under Stellantis there won't be much of anything left in America. Those previous record profits were because they raised prices. I just don't see how anything they do benefits either the Dodge fans or the workers in America. It would be really surprising to see the numbers go back to where they used to be for sales.
Since the pandemic, CDJR dealer lots have been filled with over-optioned, overpriced vehicles. So, it is no surprise that unit sales volume has steadily decreased. Basic Econ 101.
I just don’t believe it at this point. We know from the corporate level when they cut cost, it’s so they can make MORE MONEY. They won’t pass those saving to us. The trickle down effect has NEVER worked.
One of the key cost factors for Stellantis is the insane EPA emissions that forces auto makers to comply or buy carbon credits from battery car companies.
Stellantis has had to pay hundreds of million of dollars each quarter to Tesla to buy carbon credits! This has a direct impact on the bottom line! And as such, where do you think they will make up the cost? They raised the prices across the board and is why you see $100,000.00 Jeep Wranglers. $85,000.00 1500 Ram pickup trucks! So all you folks out there crying about these insane prices - you can thank the Democrats for doing this green agenda on the entire auto industry!!!
Yep, you're not wrong
Racer X, sell the Demon while you can still get good money for it & go buy a Z06, way better all-around car that can now be bought for MSRP, Dodge is circling the drain
Love my Z06 and turbo s. Corvette and Porsche are about all that's left worth buying for an enthusiast car for carving up roads. Maybe the new lotus too
Thanks for the great content RacerX. Stellantis is in a tough spot. The US government with their CAFE rules and fines make it very difficult if not impossible to continue to sell the cars we enjoy and want to buy.
They have chosen to move to BEVs which now seems to be a poor performing market. Adding a desperately needed new model to the Dodge line up by rebadging an Alfa Romeo was a flop. So strategically they are doing the wrong things at the wrong time. Now they are recognizing their strategy is flawed and need to cut cost. I hope they survive, but they seem to be doing little if anything right. If the Charger doesn’t sell the Dodge brand is done.
Bottom line is if you are not competitive with the rest of the industry as far as price quality and what people want you will eventually go the way of the dodo bird it's a dam shame
I own a 5.7 Ram and a 392 Challenger, after seeing the price gouging at the Huntsville Dodge dealer I won't be going back! The Ram is a 2023 and the Challenger is a 2022.. "Last Call" was a rip off 😂😂..
When I learned of the Daytona EV I was really looking forward to possibly getting one. The EV suits my needs perfectly as all i need it for is an around-town runabout that gets me to local stores and my local airport. In theory the EV should be way more reliable than the ICE vehicle because the powertrain subsystems are less complex and generate less heat.
The powertrain systems in the ICE vehicle that aren't in the EV are the fuel system, evaporative emissions systems, engine oil system that requires 5000 mile oil changes, reciprocating engine components, engine block, valve train, induction system, exhaust system, exhaust emissions systems (catalyst), engine control computer, transmission, transmission control computer, mechanical electric charging system (alternator), and wiring harnesses that connect all these complex components together that must survive the heat in the engine bay and other environmental factors.
Because only 1/3 of the available energy of a fuel is actually used to move an ICE-powered car, a full 2/3 of the remaining energy must be extracted in the form of heat in equal parts out the tailpipe and radiator, respectively, as waste heat. As engines get smaller and power goes up, all of this heat is concentrated into smaller volumes which means engine bay temperatures go up and bake out the components in the engine bay like the wiring harnesses, plastic engine components like the air induction systems, and the extreme heat in the exhaust system rusts even stainless steel parts on all the fasteners that bolt it together, meaning it's a bear to get them off when things need to be serviced.
A lot of this goes away with the EV. Gone. Poof.
Now the EV does have its own issues, like thermal control of the battery, heat rejection from the inverter and power electronics, but these are not as severe as the thermal issues of the ICE. So, in theory, they should be more reliable, however, because all of these things are new there is still room for improvement as knowledge is gained and things are made more reliable. it's just the nature of any new technology. You learn more as it gets into the field and customers discover things that the designers never planned on.
Another thing I like about the EV that is not the same as the ICE is that there is one component that 'wears out' in the EV vs 2 in the ICE, namely, the battery pack in the EV 'wears out' over time. The electric motor, if designed right, should last 500k miles easily. In the ICE, there are two major expense considerations that weigh on the owner's mind as the car gets older: the engine and the transmission. When the car is 8 years old and either goes out, one thinks of junking the car and getting a new one. So (again, in theory) the EV should last a lot longer if one is willing to swap battery modules.
The beauty of the EV in this arena is that there are no emissions controls on the battery pack, so any aftermarket battery pack can be added. In the ICE, tinkering with emissions-controlled systems raises the costs of those add-ons. So (again, in theory) there should be an aftermarket bonanza in the EV systems as there are NO emissions requirements that inhibit newer and better offerings.
Now, the problem that you, TK, and OC Motivator have pointed out is that Stellantis fired all of their engineers and is outsourcing them to the far corners of the planet to be "cheap." Unfortunately the knowledge that was built into the brains of the engineers that were let go was also lost, so all these new engineers may have no clue how to put these disparate parts together. We're seeing delays in the Daytona EV because things aren't working out in field testing. And those won't get fixed if the guys working the problem are let go to save a few bucks.
This, to me, means the knowledge may not exist to actually be able to DESIGN a new technology vehicle.
Next, even if the new team COULD design it, do they have the engineering expertise to PROCURE the proper components such that they will survive the expected environments? Tevares may say, "use this transistor, it's cheaper" but the engineer that designed that circuit may say "That transistor isn't rated for the current and junction temperature to be reliable for 80,000 miles." Tevares or other upper management may only see the price of the part and not see how if they use the cheaper part it could cause the cars to fail on the road after 15,000 miles, causing a massive and expensive recall that would cost WAY more than if they had used the right part in the first place.
Edit: once the vehicle is designed and the proper parts are procured, can they BUILD it such that every unit coming down the production line CONFORMS to the design such that it will work? Hint: The one Charger body that went down the line without the glue in the welds means to me that, no, the controls needed to ensure every car meets the design spec may not be in place on the production line, so I'd be VERY wary that the car I'd get won't break down at some point.
So I don't trust Dodge at this point to make a reliable Daytona EV. They have to PROVE to me it's going to be reliable, especially with all the recalls that are happening that you, Butter, TK, and OC Motivator are talking about in current Dodge and Jeep products (Example: the wiring harness on the Hurricane-powered RAM is coming unplugged after short drives. I know what caused this: The computer aided Design (CAD) package told someone how long to make the harness from one connector to another, and the engineer trusted the CAD tool and built the wiring loom accordingly. Any smart person with any experience would add a half inch or so because the CAD tool can't calculate the exact wire lengths of every wire in the wire loom as a thick harness turns a corner. This is because every wire has a different bend radius around the corner. This results in the connector being a few millimeters too short. So even if they plug into the associated electronics box, the cable tension on the connector will pull it out after 10,000 miles. This is the same reason the Airbus A380 deliveries were delayed by 2 years because one CAD tool that made the cabin info-taiment harnesses made the harnesses about 3 to 5 mm too short and they couldn't plug into the electronics. It took 2 years to completely redesign every wire, every connector.
So, with all the quality issues that Dodge has at the moment and with all the layoffs where the expert knowledge base is being let go, I will NOT consider buying a Daytona EV unless there is a 10 year warranty on the vehicle and drivetrain. Hyundai had to do this to get back into the good graces of the buying public after their disastrous quality problems when they launched int he US back in the '80's.
But here's the thing, would Stallantis offer this kind of warranty? I won't buy a Stallantis product if it's not offered, but CEO Tevares may not want to provide it to make the investors happy. But then again, I'm not buying the car if it's not provided, so we are (as Wesley told Vizzini in "Princess Bride) "at an impasse."
My 2 cents.
Wow... that's more like $100.....
So does this mean the prices of the current dodge ram jeep product that has a 1 (built in the us) will go up in value in the long run, or will the value go down regardless?
Great analysis. Balanced viewpoint between all the major stakeholders.
As a lifelong Mopar enthusiast I share the sorrow over the Hemi's demise. The Hurricane may make power, but I'll wait until the twin turbo gassers have a solid reliability reputation before I sign any checks. Bought a last call Challenger R/T to add to the collection. FCA needs more enthusiasts in product development to avoid wasted time and money on cars like the Hornet. Who exactly is the targeted customer base for that car?
All valid points my friend. The Hornet does not really fit in the Dodge lineup in my mind! Perhaps they could have added it to Chrysler line .. so at least they had 2 vehicles and then given Dodge something small and quick like a new stealth 🥷
Racex. Love your content. Quick clarification. Dealer margins have nothing to do with the oem margin. Those are two different numbers.
I think they should just sell CDJR to an American company that has money to invest and knows what the American market wants and needs and we all can agree with this, We need more affordable good cars, more affordable fun cars and more affordable pickup trucks, and we also need to Abolish the EPA
That corporate building was opened in 1994 when Chrysler moved from their original headquarters in Highland Park, MI. Off of Oakland, Ave.
Will Stellantis kill Jeep?
Why are FCA brands being bashed? Did they ever put out a good reliable product?
I have a 2016 JKU Wrangler and it is my first and only American made vehicle. I like it for what it was designed for but the number of defects on this vehicle is more than ALL my past and current vehicles COMBINED!
Who pathetic is that??!!!
If Stellantis will get some proper engineering and productive workers, then that would be a good thing!
Is he going to cut his salary and bonuses by 30%?
The numbers they need to understand as an auto worker myself we are customers of the products we build. So the more you cut the more you cut the customer base. That's why you have to come along and offer the lease program. Doing gimmicks to make money instead of representing the customers... Am I working a short-term but it's not going to work in the long term. 💯
Corporate Building for sale in In Next 2 years.
I been Mopar guy my whole life I have never owned car that was not a Chrysler, even used vehicles were Chrysler product, my dad worked for Chrysler.
I remember when that building was under construction in early 90's.very unique building with Pentagon symbol at top of building.
Lee Iaccoca built that Corporate headquarters with profits from Minivans.
What happens to Technology Center on property next to Corporate headquarters?.
I have Friend that is Engineer at Chrysler.
No way Stellantis pulls this off with their current/future offerings in the U.S! Tavares is doing one last hail mary with a 1% chance to turn everything around. My guess he'll try to execute his plan until 2028 or 2029. Once he fails, then it's time to go out of business or possibly sell Dodge/Chrysler for cheap. He'll keep Jeep and RAM is my guess.
I'm always up till 1 am
I work here at stellantis and the stuff you hear on the news is nowhere near how bad the problem really is. They just laid off 500 people permanently at one plant in detroit yesterday July 2 2024. He has stripped every company that he has worked for down to the bear bones than he goes and sells it off.
Wow《☆》I'm catching up here Brother🙏Let's bring Mopar back home if possible✌️😎☯️
Our Dodges and Jeep have been parked for over a month now.
I worked for a tier 1 supplier in the early through mid 2000s until our jobs were outsourced to Mexico. Ford and Jeep wouldn't renew contracts unless manufacturing was outsourced.
I'll stick with my 50 year old 440 six pack challenger, and run my 16 hemi ram both paid for😊
As an avid Mopar fan, this all saddens me. Im 50 and my grandfather always had a ram truck to do the work we had to do. I know the hurricane is faster but they dont have the feel of an eight! I know this because I have tested a couple. I am just truly saddened.
I still have my Challenger 1320, but just traded both Jeeps in for a Chevy.
After WWII people were earning raises faster than the executives. Then consultants became more prevalent and they started to turn the tables on the workers. Now it’s common for executives to earn insane salaries and bonuses.
This what happens. When one company buys a other. The company that was purchased loses a lot of its work force.
Its sad that at least the perception was back! Muscle cars. Beautiful classy looking rides. And now this....
Hi,Racer!
Im on the edge, what to do.
I have 2020 V8 R/T.
Rare here in Finland...
(Right now,NEW 5,7 R/T,is about 120k in Finland).
Swap my R/T to Shelby feels like good choice.
Wow that’s seems crazy for an RT .. not sure how the conversion works though
This is off topic but Carlos would make an excellent villain in the next James Bond movie. Time to go see what Gladiators are now going for.
The final scene could be the villian Carlos battling the hero Tim Kuniskis on top of the Chrysler building with the villian going off the edge...?
@@sandybeach7009too funny, like King Kong did in 1933 on top of the Empire State Building LOL
Interest rate offerings are the other issue.
Me too, lol. Though I'm in Cali so, Paul is up really late.😮
I was up really late getting this one in the pipe
I guess when i want a replacement for my 2023 RAM 1500 i will be buying a Nissan Titan.
I’m going to miss the Ram trucks I loved that truck for a long time but Stellantis is screwing us over and taking out all Dodge dealerships in the United States 🇺🇸
I listened to one of these videos (NOT RacerX) and the talking head was laying all the blame at the feet of the UAW for wanting the workers to get raises.
The ENTIRE justification for the union's "unreasonable demands" was the 60% increase Carlo received.
I just wanted to make that clear.
We knew this was coming, nothing shocking here. After the limited edition farse and the INSANE dealer markups. I get a very strong feeling dealers knew the score in 2021, 2022 timeframe.
I get the buisness aspet from being in corp so many years, but sad and glad we had this special moment in time to enjoy these vehicles. Maybe someday they will come back.
To be able to compete with China, this new CEO will have to cut costs by 95%! What are engineering and production costs in China??!!! It may be cheaper in Europe but even Europe can't match Chinese labor costs!
Carlos is basically snuffing the life out of Stellantis!!!`😊😊😊
After Chrysler abandoned US manufacturing of the Jeep Cherokee but kept the MX manufacturing of the Compass, I'm pretty much done with them. Belvidere closing hurt a lot of people.
What does Stalantis in Europe make that an,American would want at a price point equal or below the Dodge brand? You have to have a product people want to sell cars. Just curious what the answer to this question is.
Love your videos and energy!
Now..... If you think that a company is going to outsource or cut cost and PASS IT TO THEIR CUSTOMERS.... 😂
Man...... when has that been the case????
They will increase stock buybacks. per share earnings and executives bonuses.
100 percent of the time, THAT IS THE OUTCOME.
Not 99 percent... 100.
😂
Companies these days HATE THEIR CUSTOMERS. BUT YOU KNOW WHO THEY HATE MORE...??? THEIR EMPLOYEES.
Sabotage is an understatement
Cadillac made a twin turbo v6 with 464 hp and 445 lbs. ft trq back in 2016-2019. The ATSV very solid fun to drive car with Recaro seats and a PDR. Dodge is going back to 8 year old technology and they still are blowing up.
I knew something like this was going to happen when they hired someone from Peugeot to be the CEO. I believe In the original deal, the CEO was supposed to be an outside hire, so there would not be favoritism to the European brands.
The sales numbers lowered so they decided to massively price hike the units that they did sell to cover the lost percentages. Now they are stuck with all these 2023 models but people are unable to get the financing for some of them as the financing companies are not willing to finance the entire amount anymore as they are 2023 models.
Great video. Great facts presented and information made a lot of sense. Too bad the company is not loyal to us Mopar guys.
And why have the vehicle prices gone up by crazy amounts? Well one of the reasons is the government mandates for EV’s and the automakers have to use their ICE engines to subsidize their transitions to EV’s. Then you find out most consumers don’t want EV’s so they have to raise ICE prices even more due to their EV losses
